More Subway Stories

August 15th, 2007

More art for ya! These from yesterday. Seems like the day's art won't be getting up on the same day. Today started out slow for me. I felt all tired and slow, like I was wading through mud. But I did some work, did some yoga, took a shower, ran an errand and perked up a bit. I still feel a little heavy-headed, so I'm going to go rest and read shortly. Here's some art for ya. These are both 8"x10" pieces with acrylic over collage on cradled wood board. Below is Subway Stories: Blue Line and Silver Line.

thanks, kristen! i’m doing this series for a show in September and they’re all be for sale when the show opens. And after the show they will be for sale on my website along with prints of them. :-)

omg…I LOVE these!
You are so talented! I can’t believe how great these are. As a frequent visitor to Toronto (and subway rider), kudos to you!!!
You are awesome…truly!

I LOVE these!! They remind me of the times when I used to love riding the London Underground (before the terror attacks), there was always something special about this kind of transport. I can totally see your art presented on big posters in the Underground stations. Or in Subway brochures. I reckon you are onto something here …

These are awesome, they remind me of roaming around Portland & NYC. Please let us know when you have them up for sale!

These are so atmospheric! I’ve never been on a subway before, but I get a good sense of them from these pieces.

p.s. Just wanted to let you know That I’ve missed ya. Sorry for diappearing.

These are GREAT! I’m so glad you’ve taken this idea and run with it. I LOVE this series!

I really love Blue Line (I believe that’s the first one?). The composition is really interesting, as is the contrast between the blue in the background and the light white figures. It tells a real story. Great job!

Oh, I love these subway pieces–the text in the background, the writing on the people… wonderful.

Leah – I just love this series! You achieve such depth and a feeling of life with the limited palette and materials. The angle and perspective in the top piece is expecially good:> These are fabulous!

Reading your blog tonight I am reminded I must go make my daily clay lump – whew – I got caught up in blogging but your art everyday reminded me. I’m sending you an award Leah – you may have already gotten one but you can see it here:http://spiritdoll.blogspot.com/2007/08/thanks-tinker.html

Hi Leah, I found you over at Kara’s blog. I like these subway pictures very much. The mood puts me in mind of Edward Hopper, my favorite artist. Count yourself in very good company with him.

I love the way you have captured the body language of the passengers. Very cool!
