I’ve got a sick hubster!

February 12th, 2008

So most of my creative time has been spent trying to bring a flu-stricken hubster back to health. (The kitty coalition above has been helping too of course.) Poor guy. I have been doodling, sketching and reading while cozying him up on the couch. And I'm working on a super cute stamp! I haven't made a stamp in probably ten years, but I bought a speedball block to try out a while back. Today, I drew in fresh pencil over the design I had in mind, put it face down on the speedball carving block, rubbed the back to transfer the design and then began to carve it out. I thought I had a stamp carver tucked away in old art supplies, but I couldn't find it. I did find some old clay tools, which I'm using instead. So, this may not be the cleanest stamp ever made, but I think it'll still be pretty darn cute. Hopefully, I'll have a first try at using it with ink to show you tomorrow!

In the meantime, hop over to Mother Henna's lovely online gallery of art related to peace. My piece, "Lotus Heart" is up there now.

If you're in need of some artistic inspiration, check out Jen Worden's wonderful "Stretch Yourself Challenge," which is a weekly art challenge with loads of cool ideas and techniques to try out.

Lastly, I want to be sure to remind all you CED-er's out there that the Creative Every Day challenge is meant to be a low-pressure/no-guilt challenge. Don't be knocking yourself for what you have or haven't done. It's not worth it and it may scare you away from getting back to your creative activities. So, be sure to be playful, open your mind to the creative opportunities around you (super tiny to large and wild), and have fun with it!

As without light
Nothing flowers.

I’m sorry to hear your husband has come down with the flu! As a reminder to your readers, vaccination is the single best way to protect yourself and people you love from influenza. If you come down with the flu, there are still things you can do such as taking antiviral drugs if your doctor says you need them. To protect others from the flu, take preventive actions including frequent hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes. For more information from CDC on influenza and how to protect against it or keep from spreading it, visit CDC’s http://www.myFluNews.com.

Love the shot of the kitty coalition!

I’m sorry your hubster has caught the flu – we’ve been struggling with getting over it for awhile, around here. Tried my best not to pass it on to my own hubster, but it’s certainly a persistent little bugger – though others at his workplace were sick, too – so who knows where he caught it. Hope both our guys feel better soon.
Wanted to let you know there’s a little blog award for you over at my place. Wishing you well~xo

Hmm…are you moderating comments now? I just left one, and am not seeing it – forgive me if this is a double post…

Sorry your hubster isn’t feeling well – hope he’s better soon. We’ve had it around here, and it’s no fun.
Passing on a little award to you, over at my blog.
Wishing you well~xo

Oh sure – there it is now! lol

Sorry to hear your hubster has the flu… it is the pits! It is wonderful you are so open to how people create and how we can get off track, but come back on. :) Thank you for your positive attitude!

Love that kitty coalition!

If I get sick can I come and snuggle with your kitty cats too? Oh, what sweethearts! I love the way they’re all lined up on the couch like that.

And, Leah, your art show that you have photos of in your last post looks fantastic! I really get the feeling that CED is going to take you further than you have even imagined. Your energy is so focused and look at these wonderful things that are happening! :) Well, everything but the sick husband, that is. :) - I hope he’s feeling better soon!

Ohhhh, I love your kitty brigade. They can come play with my two while you are mending the hubby. Can’t wait to see the new stamp and I hope your household feels better soon. We did the sickness thing last week. It’s not fun.
Hugs,
a.

hi, thanks for your comment on my picture. I love your blog and your work. The lighthouse is my favourite of those on the gallery.
Such a cool idea to give people this challenge of being creative! I actually got out my watercolours for the first time last night in ages and just experimented.
x keep it going!

That nasty flu is making very thorough rounds! I hope your husband gets well soon! I just love this picture of your cats – it reminds me of my cat family when there were four. I had an orange tabby named Willie and a grey & white “tuxedo” cat named Romeo – both gone now, and I still have two girl tabbies, Jezebel (silver) and Samantha (brown). Your family matches mine! What sweeties:>

this photo is so great on so many levels! i’m sorry the hubster is sick, but it sounds like he’s getting great care!

Dear Leah, I love your Kittens, they are really beauties! Sorry for your husband but as the others said,he seems to be in “good hands”!
Your stamps are beautiful too! And with reference to the Sesamy Street: Elizabeth (from Elizabeth’s blog) and I have both watched recently the “christmas tale” played by the muppets characters on DVD (she made me this present she is a love) and had lots of fun!

I’m sorry that you are with the flu and suffering! I’d like to invite you to a game on my blog, you can win a lovely Paris Souvenir, you just have to say you’re in!

Have a good day and I hope you’ll be better soon!
Andrea
