Art Every Day Month, November 17th

November 17th, 2008

Today is the 17th day of Art Every Day Month. Another day in which you can carve out a bit of time to be creative, to express yourself in some way, no matter how small.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post, the previous day's posts and the links in the sidebar for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post (or specific image if you're linking to a flickr page or other website) instead of your main blog page or website. If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation! For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

If you're new to Art Every Day Month, check out the before you use the link widget to share your creations.

I think the greatest enemies to creativity are within ourselves – that’s what we need courage to overcome. Creativity is like an inner journey, and it feels safer to just stay at home.

I am so enjoying this community. It is a great way to follow links to other artists and see the wonderful variety and awesome talent that exists. And I am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Another week off to a fabulous creative start! I’m feeling courageous today. :)

i posted about the release of my mandala calendar today!
it has been so much fun to meet new artists this month. what an amazing group of creatives! wowowow!

This is my link from yesterday. Hopefully I’ll have another one this evening. And i finally remembered to link to the specific post rather than to my blog in general. Yay for me! Thanks for the applause! ;-) Happy creating! ~Sara

When I read the quote for today, I smiled because it reminded me of Matisse’s Blue Nude II. I am a big fan of Matisse. His creative expression has been a favorite since high school. I love what Matisse said about creativity takes courage. I think it takes courage for anyone to present his or her artwork because creative expression is deeply personal. It represents your soul and illustrates your emotions and experiences. Sharing from the inside out makes one vulnerable. Revealing one’s vulnerabilities to others is an act of courage.

Finally (almost) finished some of my Inspiration Cards! Now I have to work on the ones that I’m going to paint and to start on some of the other suits.

17 days in and I’m finally getting official! I have, though, been mindfully creative every day since I learned about this brilliant plan to further instill creativity in every facet and cell of daily life…

Getting there….gosh I wish I was painting right now.

I had to rename the project AAEDM for me as in “Art almost every day month” Lol!
Missed a day but was corageous enough to say it instead of cheating. ;)

Love the quote for today. It took a lot of courage in some respects to hang artwork for my exhibition with my twin sister Sherry (also participating in AEDM as Sankofa Doll Journal). We both felt very vulnerable as we hung our work today at our exhibition space. It is the first time we exhibited together (outside of a group exhibition) and publicly. The work looks great…creativity takes tremendous courage!

BTW: If you are in the DC area, my sister and I are in a two-woman show entitled “Double Visions” at Space 7:10 @ Kefa Cafe…a small cafe at 963 Bonifant Street, downtown Silver Spring, Maryland from November 18th – January 3rd. Our reception is December 5th! A lot of the work you have seen on AEDM from me is being exhibited!

I finally got pictures of my art up on my blog today. Enjoy!!

I had fun this AM helping at my youngest grand daugher’s play school – & took up the pastels for a quick dragon which you’ll find on my link :)
The photo with all the paint shows the original ‘Creation Station,’ where the kids have access to tape, glue, colours of various kinds, etc; & the quote hangs on the wall.

I always have fun doing art with kids, & it’s great for them to see that you CAN still colour when you’re ‘grown up!’

My post is several days’ worth of stuff; it all sort of got worked on at once and finished (or to a point to show) at once.

two posts two blogs i feel like im running a marathon but im having soooo much fun! i can hardly wait to see your calendar.

I’ve done a lot of promoting my art, did a trade show with a nice feature of some of my artwork, prints, and ACEO’s. I also finished a few pieces but haven’t posted them yet. This challenge has been great fun. When it’s said and done, I most likely will have finished 15 or more canvases and so far–44 ACEO’s!!! Thank you for starting this great movement!

The flu had me out of commission for a few days, but I’m back in the game today with a Suzi Blu inspired goddess.

how I love this challenge, I am not able to post much but seeing all your beautiful work here is encouraging me to do more at home and try myself in subjects I could only dream about…
thank you for this!
