Creative Every Day: January 19th – January 25th, 2009

January 19th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day 2009 participants!

Feel free to leave a comment on this post or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 1/19/09 - 1/25/09.

The use of this widget is not required. It's an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post or posts during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you!

To find out more about Creative Every Day 2009, check out the details here and then if you want to sign up, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know (a link to my email is in the upper left sidebar.) When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required!) If you start posting links on the Mr. Linky widget without letting me know that you're participating, I may not see that you're new. Also, if you notice that your blog is not in the sidebar and you thought you had signed up, let me know, so I can get it up there asap.

There are some folks participating who do not have a blog and for some reason their names are linking to the CED info page. I'm not sure why that's happening, but I wanted you to know that when you click on a name that takes you to the CED page, it means that they don't have a blog at this time.

The totally optional theme for January is Play! I'll be posting about this theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the theme here.

Happy Creating!!

I was playing with color all week for Misty Mawn’s journal challenge. I think I learned a few things and found more inspiration.

I’m finally feeling well enough to spend some time in my art room. It is great to be back – can’t wait to be 100%

I was also playing in Misty Mawn’s journal challenge…. and I do mean playing around… it was fun!

Yesterday I posted a new SoulCollage card at Sacred Ordinary and tonight I set up a Photo Album on Sacred Ordinary of some of my SoulCollage cards. Sacred Ordinary: http://redondowriter.typepad.com

Hi all,
this is the link to the second step on the way of my project: I will draw and paint a serie of view of the ancient towers of San Gimignano.
There are 14 tower availables and I think to make about 5 drawings of each one. So it will take about 70 drawings and paintings.

Cheers.

My blog shows what i’ve been up to during the last couple of weeks and my new project to follow instructions received for a bookwork as part of an Artists Book Collaboration called sub(missive)! Quite a challenge over the next few weeks – postings of how I’m getting along to follow! I have taken lots of photo’s also and now need to set up a Flicker account.Today I am scanning some old slide transpariences into a digital format to work on them in photoshop (a new learning experience for me) – lots of creative stuff happening – please check out my blog thank you

Have loved playing this month!

I’ve finished a healing art journal page.

I haven’t had a lot of time this week to create but I did finish a custom order for an old friend featured on my last blog post.

photo creativity the past few days, as there hasn’t been time to do anything else! one year anniversary of my blog, which i started last year to help me focus on art every day, whether i could actually make it or not. that worked out pretty well, and so is c.e.d so far.

Hi Leah!
I am having so much fun playing with my blind drawings. :) I will have some doodle embroidery to show you next week that I am playing with in my online class now. :)

I’ve posted a playful version of an orange blossom…

Happy Creating!

Sometimes I don’t know what to post, as the process never stops, what with CED, the 12 secrets book club blog and The Portfolio project. So I’m just going to post this one.

I think what I am doing for my 12 week portfolio project is actually figuring out how live the life of a professional artist while still being a full time stay at home mom with very young kids. I want to be creative everyday, but it doesn’t always seem to work, so I am trying to figure out how this balance works.

Here’s my latest piece I’m working on http://gotart4u.blogspot.com/2009/01/life-lesson.html Come take a look and leave any comments or suggestions you may have. cyber hugs to you this Monday!

thanks for the comment Leah:) I hope to work in my journal again this evening-it helps me feel better and get rid of some stress!
hope you have a great day!
Trish

I put new pics up on my blog of my latest journal.

Greetings, creative folk. I just did a new watercolor self-portrait for my art class, but it doesn’t really look like me. But I like it anyway.

And I worked on my Lobster float picture. :-)

My comment about my new self portrait does not seem to have posted so these are out of order. (It doesn’t look like me but I like it anyway.)

more play. yipee-ki-yi-yay!

i am a bit naughty; I actually posted this journal page on the 18th. But it fits so well into your post on Playing with Not Knowing that I had to put it in.

I’ve played in a variety of ways this week, including with Sammi and the Cats. I’m enjoying reading about and seeing what you all are doing so much. Here are a couple of pics of journal pages a list of some of the other ways I played this week.

I don’t know where my other post went, so I’ll try again. I’ve played in a variety of ways this week. Here are some pics of a couple of journal pages along with some of the other ways I’ve been playing.

I was playing in front of the mirror taking photos with my daughter, that was great fun!

My knee is getting better each day and I am feeling more like playing in my art room. I am so happy that I am keeping an art journal, but I am missing the daily chronicle I kept last year. I know I won’t be able to do both, so maybe need to incorporate some of the day to day in this art journal.

Finished up a painting I started 5 years ago. Reminded me of a time that I had fun PLAYING.

I’ve been painting, writing my mini-article posts, and even poetry! For all that I have a ‘tude I’m being creative.

check out my blog for my creative endeavors this week:
http://foxyartstudio.blogspot.com/
a giant doily rug and and a new drawing…and I’m 2/3rds done with a knit tam (not on the blog yet) and starting a pair of baby booties for my grandson…

I’ve been playing with beads again. It’s far too hot outside, so I’ve been escaping the heat by sitting in the airconditioned comfort of my armchair and seing tenny beads onto fabric. Lots of fun!

Ummm…that should have read “sewing teeny beads onto fabric”! Maybe I should stop until I can type straight again!

I’ve used neocolors for awhile, but never with water, so I’m playing with neocolors and water ~ http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/experiment-neocolors-in-moleskine-i.html.

Am having a hard time getting down to work this month… I think it may be the grey skies of winter… So good to see that others are creating though. Gives me hope!

http://halfformed.blogspot.com/2009/01/slow-reader.html

This is not at my No Polar Blog. It is a brand new poem and a “Broadside (accompanying art) posted to Half-formed, my blog of drafts and process. I probably should combine all my stupid too many blogs but that would take more time than I have available.

I had fun playing and working on this, but I never had any breakfast and I am getting really cranky. (Who’s fault is THAT?) I kept playing until my hands turned blue!

I also discovered that some of my links don’t work because the old urls stay there and when I put in the new ones, they pile up. AK! I’ll have to be more careful.

I participated in creative art everyday in November and it was very inspiring to do art daily.
Today i was experimenting and playing with different colors in photoshop to do a floral abstract for another challenge and thought it suits the topic’play’. I have also done 10 cards for different challenges this week and it was fun participating in them.you can see them at my blog
http://motivart.wordpress.com/

I did some drawings and then turned them into something that a toddler can play with.

hi all! :-D

New self portrait for my class: http://imagik.blogspot.com/2009/01/self-portrait-in-mirror.html

it probably looks more like the real (physical) me than any of the others.

oh!!! love that quote leah!!! i’m writing it down right now, it’ll be a good reminder when i’m in that blah mood and not playing… thank YOU!!!

peace and love

I’ve been playing with Photoshop this month…lots of fun and totally can get lost in all the possibilities!

Also ‘played’ with some winter pieces (love yours by the way Leah! )

http://sweetrepeats.blogspot.com/2009/01/searching-always-searching.html

HAH! totally doodled my way into the piece i just posted… and THEN read your post re: playing/not knowing. synchronicity strikes! wheeeeee!

Finally got some ATCs done that are due for a swap through one of my Yahoo! groups.

Still hurting, but making myself go into the art room and find something to do. It really does help.

My daughter and I played with extra cardstock, acrylic ink and a brayer in http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/psychedelic-batik-cardstock-i.html.

I’d like to solicit some advice…

what is a good pen(s) for sketchbook doodling and art journaling?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Friday and weekend to all!

Heh. My cat is going to kill me.

Added another entry, this time some fractal art.

Well, I have made it through another week and I’m not talking about the wintry weather. I know it’s only the 24th, but I have been consistent, some days just sneaking a little time here and there, but it all adds up. I am very, very happy with this approach, I find I encourage myself a lot more.

I just posted a couple of finished pieces, namely the final installments of “Family Angels” and the digital piece I worked on last night. So far so good, I’m keeping the CED faith, and as Kim said, some days I just kind of sneak it it at the end of a busy day!

I am finally putting sketches in my art journal. I have a separate sketch book that I don’t share; it is just for my practice. I have a long way to go with drawing, but the more I practice, the better I get. And I am having fun!

I wrote lots of haiku and a few poems. :)

Drawing in the car!
