Creative Every Day Challenge Check-In: February 16th – February 22nd, 2009

February 16th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day 2009 participants!

Feel free to leave a comment on this post or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 2/16/09 - 2/22/09.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post or posts during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

To find out more about the Creative Every Day Challenge check out the details here.

If you want to sign up to be a part of the challenge, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know (a link to my email is in the sidebar.) When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required to participate!) Please email or comment to let me know you're participating before you start posting links in the Mr. Linky widget.

The totally optional theme February is Words! I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the themes here.

Happy Creating!!

"Not every thing you create will be a masterpiece, but you get out there and try. Sometimes it happens, the other times you're just stretching your soul." -Maya Angelou

**p.s. In the transition to my new server, I may have lost some of the Creative Every Day participant links. Please check to see if your blog is still listed in the right sidebar. If you don't see it, let me know and I'll add it again. Thanks!**

so last week was crazy… i was still creative everyday, but i just didnt get to blog it. anyways this week we are back to a regularly scheduled program. :)

I am enjoying this challengen and am finding it very easy to incorporate words into my art. It seems a natural fit.
Thank you for the challenge,
Cindy

i, on the other hand, am very challenged at naturally incorporating words into my art. i did play a wrod game last week, but ended up putting images to the words and not merging the two. oh well…… still managing the ced part ok! maybe by the end of the month….

I’ve been following along with the challenge since the beginning but this is my first post. While I haven’t managed some creative action every day, I find I’m playing in my craft room for at least a few minutes more days than not. I’ve finished a few small sewing projects and am currently working on a large beaded piece as a gift for a friend. This has been a wonderful way to stay in touch with my creative side in the midst of the busy-ness of every day life. Thanks so much for the challenge!

Hello everyone! I’ve posted several photos of my sketches, etc for the week on my Moxie blog and pictures of a doll with a story about her dress on my Scribbles blog.

I’m having fun with the word challenge too, Leah. I find myself incorporating words into my sketches more. They just come to me while I’m sketching or slinging paint. Fun stuff! :)

I creating art again! Everytime I return to creating I’m so excited and happy. I will be posting a new painting today or tomorrow, it still hasn’t dried. I’m also working on a collage that I will post today or tomorrow. This past week I’ve discovered a photography site, learned something about myself in an interview, had a dream I’m still trying to figure out (dreams aren’t always about the obvious). Oh and I ordered two new art books that I will get this week, check out the library.

Happy creating everyone!

It was a good week for getting in a little play and just about finished a painting which I posted.

Hi Everyone, I’m new to this challenge, and today was my first day to take part, it seemed to take forever to decide what to do! But I ended up gaining inspiration from a picture of twisted trees, and this is what I came up with: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35416147@N05/3284899741/in/pool-creativeeveryday2008

I’m looking forward to meeting you all, you’ve posted such beautiful art already in the Flickr CED Group, you all inspire me so much!

Thanks for letting me join,

Angela :)

Thanks for being the incentive to continue on the path of artistic growth.

How fun! Thanks to CED I learned about the Pictures, Poetry & Prose website – and today, a prompt I submitted was posted!

It’s been fun reading what others have written, in response to it!

Word !

Hi Leah and CEDers!
I have redesigned my blog and moved from Wordpress to Blogger. Please feel free to check it out at http://christinepierce.blogspot.com.

Leah, at your convenience, could you please update my link in the blogroll to reflect this change?

Thanks!

Christine

For goodness sake! The link in my previous post seems to go to a Blogger message page! If you just click on my name you should be able to see my blog directly. Thanks!

I’m also new at using words in my drawings so this is a challenge for me. But I’m so inspired and excited by everyone’s blogs. And by the way, I love the Maya Angelou quote about “stretching your soul”.

made my affimart card for today . I wish abundance to all

Just a little something:)

This one is for you Leah!

This last post shows my painting “Awakening” and talks about how I upped my productivity with a little self-love.

I’m still rather anal about sharing my words. My journal ends up fake and a little paranoid if I think someone’s going to read it- so I’m still too shy to share. Maybe later. Still, the “words” theme has been lots of fun to work with.

This was timely, considering how little time I’ve had for art this last few weeks… And before I saw the post I created mine (linked here) and it IS about mini-projects! More synchronicity!

Life has kept me so busy to catch up on all the postings I want and have to do!!

Nevertheless, I’ve done a lot of things with words. My daily haiku/senryu challenge is still ongoing. I’ve written a couple or so poems, drew a few mandalas, and borrowed what looked like stencil art and wrote a letter on it for Valentine’s Day. But bear with me while I try to slowly post a few of those “old” entries! :) Sadly, I don’t have that Valentine letter to post, since it’s personal!! :D But maybe I’ll do another one just to show you all what I mean. :)

I just added my link. :)

Doodling with thread while learning embroidery: http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/threaded-doodles.html.

My first mixed-media painting… I’d love to hear what you think.

Although I haven’t been posting daily, creativity is a bigger part of my life than ever before. And boy is it juicy and delicious! I am walking on air…

Just some photos:)

Hi, just sending some hugs your way! Have a grate day!

Shayla, you don’t *ever* have to share your journal. (I mean, just in case you don’t know that.)

And whoops, I didn’t mean for my name to have last week’s (another) in the link. Mr. Linky has a good memory, apparently.

I started along with Caspiana’s soul journaling instructions from last year. It’s weird because that kind of thing is definitely NOT my usual style, and I’ve always had a hard time wrapping my brain around collage and art that is, what, not so controlled? But I’m just letting it be, or trying to, anyway. So that’s been partly inspired by your Words theme, and I think I found the link here anyway, right?

When you first suggested the Words theme I was baffled, thinking I never incorporated them in my art. Which is ridiculous–most of my pictures are labeled with the name of whoever the subject is right on the bottom! The things you don’t see when they’re right under your nose…

Here’s my page for WORDS. http://knottyneedle.blogspot.com/2009/02/words-sword.html
It was great fun. Thanks again for all you are doing.

i have taken on the challenge of continuing to learn Japanese independently, even though the person who had been my greatest resource is out of my life ~ so your theme of “words” is right on time! you never said they had to be english words ;)

A quick and fun design exercise to stretch the creative ligaments. http://athenadreams.typepad.com/design/2009/02/design-an-album-cover-meme.html
and there are some words…

I combined two recent sketches into a new piece for fun. (Raven) http://nopolar.blogspot.com/2009/02/raven.html

I’m slowly scanning a stack of my dad’s 35mm slides, created a journal pages around one of the photos… http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/art-journal-35mm.html.

I’m testing a new camera, and I’m working on a new quilt.
