CED Challenge Check-In: June 1 – 7

June 1st, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day Challenge participants!

This weekly post is a place for CED participants to share their creative activities.

Ways to share: Leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 6/1/09 - 6/7/09.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

Join in the Challenge: To find out more about the Creative Every Day Challenge check out the details here.

If you want to sign up to be a part of the challenge, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know. When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required to participate!) Please email or comment to let me know you're participating before you start posting links in the comments or on the "Mr. Linky" widget.

UPDATE: There's been an issue with the Mr. Linky servers, so if the widget is missing please leave your link in the comments. Thank you!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for June is sound. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the theme here.

Happy Creating!!

Not much creativity on my blog this week. Spent the last two weeks trying to correct the code when I had attempted to install a plug-in. I was fortunate to get the help of a pro or it would have taken me months longer. Next time I think I will just hire someone to fix it as the thought of losing my art blog is so overwhelming. I do have exciting news but want to wait a week before telling as I want to pull together a proper post. I am wondering how others deal with the loss of thier blog due to bad html or issues with servers etc. Artists need a blog more then most bloggers. What steps do you all take to make sure yours is maintained and can be reconstructed? Sound from me this week? The sound of going through the seven stages of grief at the thought of the loss; wishing for acceptance at the time so I would know how my journey would change. This time I get a second chance.

I found my copy of ‘Animal Speak’ and was blown away by what I read too. The White Elephant story (http://onthewrongsideofthemirror.wordpress.com/2009/06/01/queen-of-the-heavens/) is just one of several stories I have roaming around…and it was actually a dream I had last night…..
And look–it has sound in it–sort of :-) so it fits this months theme.
I asked several people what elephants made them think of….memory and strength were the major ones that came back…but the stuff in ‘Animal Speak’ is still swirling through and processing…I can’t wait to see what comes up next. :-)
Thank you for letting me share. :-)

Cool theme! I think for this month’s theme of “sound” I will take special notice of the sounds I hear every day and try to use them as a jumping off point to create some relate art.

I mean to write “related” art – not “relate” :)

Just reading through the posts above, and Ascender, if my blog was shut down you would definitely hear the sounds of frustrated sobbing. Being a computer knucklehead, it would take me forever to fix it. Thank goodness for those who come to our rescue.
As I work on my painting, my background sounds are the from the old summery tunes of the Beach Boys :)

happy monday! thanks for the visit to my blog & the kinds comments. i am excited about the sound theme- i love music and often think that if i could make a piece of art that made people feel like some live music makes me feel- like it goes right into my heart- that would really be something.

I’ve been away for a couple of weeks acting as caregiver for my Mom. While I got no art done, I was very creative while there.

Hi Leah and All! Still not a lot going on here creativity wise. I’m still drawing/painting some every morning, and I did write a new long post for Scribbles about my kitty jungle and a couple of other things. I’ve made several pictures this week. I just don’t have them uploaded yet. I did upload one on Moxie that I guess has to do with sound. She has on ear muffs to shut it out. LOL I plan to upload more this week. I feel most alive when I’m painting/writing. Hope you all have a blessed week of creativity and love. :)

I have not been very creative this past month at all. Totally slacking and overwhelmed and lazy and losing my creative routine.

Because of this, I started a new challenge for myself to get back into the flow of things. I am going to paint and finish 100 paintings in 100 days. I opened it up to others for any creativity they want, as I posted in the other comments, I just wanted to put it out there again, in case anyone has been in a slump like I’ve been and needs a push.

My challenge starts June 1st! So here I go.

Leah, another fabulous inspiration! I used it for my Bench Monday idea! As far as my sound…I lost the ligature (thingy that holds the reed on) to my Saxophone out in the fields during this. Hmmmm is nature trying to tell me something?

Hi, this 010609 post is about trying out twitter. Made a painting and a video!

I have been away from this project for a while, starting up a business. This group was part of the courage to do that.
I am looking forward to getting caught up and reading everyone’s blogs. I posted a few pictures for May and Sound will be fun for June.

Listening to the sounds of bluejays and thunder this June morning.

This isn’t exactly an art post but it * is* about art- and it is something I’d like to share:)

a quick post to try getting back in the habit after a very hectic month.
I’ve been trying to stimulate ideas for new small pieces of art to display in an art fest in july. It will be my first with artwork along side my jewelry.

My IF entry. Pencilwork on Moleskine. *Adapt* ^.^

Leah,

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my blog and leave comments. It is greatly appreciated.

The bluebird has a lovely song. This is my “sound” for June.

xoxo

Leah, It looks like I still had your link copied and pasted it from adding it to my post and then added you to you…hee hee are you following that.

Thanks for letting me know!

This week was my first week of summer art camps. It was four days of creating with 4 – 6 yr olds to the sounds of giggles and splashing.

My creativity has stalled out a bit. My family and I are spending the summer in IL where my husband is working for the Shakespeare Festival. I told myself that packing up some of my supplies would be just one more thing to take care of. WHAT WAS I THINKING? While here (and with the extra $ my DH is making) I was able to buy a DSLR. That is probably going to be my creative outlet for the summer. I had been a photo major at Ohio State many moons ago and worked in that field for years before moving on. I didn’t realize how much I missed it. This challenge is really helping to get the juices flowing. Thanks!

Just a little card I made for my sister.

Hope you like it.

xoxo

Hi, everyone. I pondered and pondered how (or IF) I was going to use the theme of sound this time, though I have certainly been creative this week. In fact, I joined in with Warrior Girl’s 100 in 100 challenge. Still in wonderment at myself for committing to it. I was a couple of days late, so I am on Day 4 (just posted Days 1 through 3 on my blog). I am amazed at what is coming out of this. I like it! I feel like my creative juices are finally releasing. WooHoo!!

And, the past few days I have been putting on different kinds of music in my studio. It is really helping me get out of my head and into my heart – the perfect way to allow the Muse to assist me!

Thanks for all you do, Leah. By the way – Loved your video – Now I have a mental picture of you when I think of you. :-)

Yes, still around. Some frantic days, but always something to add. Thanks for keeping this alive, Leah!
