Wrecking This Journal and Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone
June 5th, 2009
O.k., so even though I feel a bit self-conscious about doing video blogging (or vlogging) and this is far from great video quality (enjoy my wet-fresh-out of the shower hair and weird buzzing noise), I'm stepping outside my comfort zone a bit today and sharing this 1 minute video of me talking about Jamie Ridler's fabulous new book group, for Keri Smith's Wreck this Journal. Enjoy!

I applaud your stepping outside the old comfort zone! I’ve seen Wreck This Journal on Amazon, but didn’t know what it was all about -it really looks like a kick Good summer fun!

You look lovely.
Can I request another video? Where you have thrown the journal in the shower and are stamping on it?
Oops, this is sounding kinda creepy when I was trying to be funny. I am a straight married woman, I just have a loopy sense of humour.

Leah, You present a good case for looking into this book group. For me it is very difficult to even write in the margins of books. I was taught in school to never make a mark in a book never mind wreck it.
Well, I looked at the Amazon page and the book is one that encourages creativity.
Thank you, Leah – you are a Goddess!

Yay!! It was so wonderful to see beautiful you, Leah And what a great way to start the adventure – by stepping out of the comfort zone and into the world of vlogging!

Go Leah! I loved seeing you on video. I think you should keep doing it! Totally impressed that you made the video thing happen. (I don’t even have a camera. I think I’d better work on that.)
Looking forward to seeing more wreckage from you!

I’m so happy you decided to do a video — it adds a whole new dimension seeing you “speak” your post! I’m still trying to find my comfort zone with video, so I can relate .
Good to see you talking about this book too — Keri Smith has such a great website, and I was thinking about buying that book for my sister.

Boo. I can’t watch vimeo on my computer. I am so behind in technology. When I get my new computer, it will be a whole new worl. One in which I can watch videos and post them maybe, and where flash does not freeze everything up.
Until then, I shall just wreck a journal.

Leah! You are totally gorgeous. I love seeing you in motion after all these years of reading your words. (Though I haven’t been by in awhile, I adore your blog prettiness!) I know it’s hard to purposefully destroy ANY book; just not what we’re used to at all! I am trying to embrace my toddler’s attitude towards life and get comfortable with destruction, for sure. Good luck! I can’t wait to see what happens.

I like the video. (I’m working up the nerve to do one of my own.) I even liked the strange buzzing noise!

I’m excited to share this journey with you—I feel kind of weird destroying a book, too

I worked through that book about a year ago and it was so much fun. I practically destroyed it. I have pictures of it on my blog if you want to see. (I think they are labled “wrecked journal”.

When I found youtube and SuziBlu I thought that EVERYONE should do a wee vlog on their blog just for the visitors to get a view of how you look and talk, because that makes the blog so much more real. I wanted it to be kind of a rule, but I was afraid to do my own so I couldn’t really ask people to do it… hehe. But it really makes you A REAL PERSON and I love it! I hope to see more of you Leah, you did great talking to nobody. I think it’s so difficult!

So Fun to see you!

ARgh! I get the video but no sound, at all. I’m sure you are saying wonderful and inspiring things. And my goodness girl, you are so YOUNG! You are so very mature as an artist (and I mean that in a good way, of course!) Wow, what talent you have – and wisdom, too. A very very wise woman! Thanks so much for sharing both your talent and your wisdom with us all!

I tried a new browser and it worked! Yay! Yes, that “action -adventure book” – the publisher should pay you to get rights to that phrase. What a great way to put it!

I just adore you even MORE now after seeing a video of you… is that even possible?

Thank you!!!! I enjoy your blog and it has been such a kind, gentle nudge for me to return to my creative side. Your blog has played a role in encouraging me along on my creative journey over the last year. On a very fun note, I just read this blog entry today after making notes of fun things to do with our two children (age 8 and 12) this summer. I have ordered three of these books as a summer project of sorts. I think we are going to have so much fun with these. Thank you for bringing the book to my attention. Most of all thank you for your blog.
Wishing you success and joy in all that you do.
