CED Challenge Check-In: July 6 – 12

July 6th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day Challenge participants!

This weekly post is a place for CED participants to share their creative activities.

Ways to share: Leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 7/6/09 - 7/12/09.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

Join in the Challenge: To find out more about the Creative Every Day Challenge check out the details here.

If you want to sign up to be a part of the challenge, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know. When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required to participate!) Please email or comment to let me know you're participating before you start posting links in the comments or on the "Mr. Linky" widget.

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for July theme is self. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the self theme here.

Happy Creating!

I’m telling you, I am sooooo glad I joined Creative Every Day. It has really kept me focused on what’s REALLY important in life. And that for ME is to continue to create! It is just so relaxing for me. And with the stressful “day job” I have . . . well, it’s just nice to carve out some “me time” in each and every day!

I’ve been creating a Tribute to Michael series of 4 pieces. The first one sold the first day and the 2nd one has been spoken for and I’m still working on it. Two more to go!

Here are the links to the first one (finished) http://gotart4u.blogspot.com/2009/06/first-in-mj-tribute-series.html and the second one (still a wip)http://gotart4u.blogspot.com/2009/07/sneek-peek-of-2nd-and-3rd-wip-and.html

Thanks again for having this blog Leah!! xoxo

happy july! looking forward to having more time to play, and to exploring some of the self prompts this month.

I totally agree with that Picasso quote. Painting for me is much like a diary. I’m having problems letting go of the pieces, because of it, I think.

There are just so many ways to take the theme of ’self’. I have a few ideas for the month but have simply started by being ’self indulgent’ with a focus on ‘my favourite things’ in a Skywatch Friday post. Looking forward to seeing how others develop this throughout the month. Thanks as always to Leah for the inspiration.
Janice.

I like the quote. It seems quite applicable, since the self portrait I painted today is a lot like a diary of how I’m feeling at this moment in time.

i love this weekly creative check-in :)
i have been bringing my creative focus back to my creative journaling. really having fun with it.

I like the idea of a challenge for the week. I posted about the past weekend, but I am going to work on this weeks theme and repost.

getting back into posting on my blog. I set the paints aside while I create new jewelry pieces.

Loving doing vlog check-ins! New vid of the newest pieces I did over the long weekend, plus a re-shoot of a few canvases I tried to show in a previous vid, but didn’t like the lighting from it, sooo… :) Miracles! k-

It is so funny what the term ’self-portrait’ brings up…there are so many pieces of me that encompass the whole…it’s so interesting to delve into–even if I have only posted a few of the results at the moment…at least I am exploring and getting there….thank you for these challenges…they are so awesome.

My Mum came in to visit for a week so I haven’t had much time for anything. However, just by doing a little thumbnail sketch each day has enabled me to sneak in that little creative touch each day. It’s been such fun! Now that Mum has returned home, it’s me time. Thanks for this challenge, Leah!

Leah,

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such nice comments.

Today’s post is more about family than art, but having a 6-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 1 1/2 year old stay the night and have a really enjoyable time is an art in itself.

I sure love my grandgirls and am enjoying them a lot more now that they don’t live with me.

xoxo

better late than never!
Over the last few weeks I’ve been compiling a list of all the things I love and plan on using each entry as a metaphor or symbol within my work. Also working on a project in which I make an inchie representing each year of my life. The idea of it has become very expansive because I want it in mixed media but I am excited about it.

Completely enjoying the deepening of my study of self this month.

Yesterday’s Photo Self portrait especially intrigued me.

summer is starting to get crazy ~ all good though. thought i’d have a little time to work on my own portrait, but it might have to wait a while. or i’ll do a really quick “free” one which could be fun.
