Creative Every Day Challenge Check-In: Oct. 26 – Nov. 1

October 26th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day Challenge participants!

This weekly post is a place for CED participants to share their creative activities.

Ways to share: Leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 10/26/09 - 11/1/09.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

Join in the Challenge: To find out more about the Creative Every Day Challenge check out the details here.

If you want to sign up to be a part of the challenge, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know. When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required to participate!) Please email or comment to let me know you're participating before you start posting links in the comments or on the "Mr. Linky" widget.

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for October is connect. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the inspiration theme here.

Happy Creating!

Update: Sorry this was up late today! I'm not sure what happened to the original post, but I re-posted and here it is now!

Hello Leah and everyone else! Hope all is well with you all. My ‘connect’ post is a 2-parter this week. Part 1 posted today and part 2 will be up tomorrow – just because it was a bit long to expect anyone to read all in one go. It’s actually a collaborative project between two blog friends and me. Hope you enjoy it and looking forward to coming visiting – I’m not used to being the first one to post here!

this week i am doing a lot of connecting with other people… doing 2 lectures on creativity as a tool for relaxation and self-care, and starting teaching a discovery class at the centre for conscious living.
and i just made and animated a sweet little “creativity prayer” and put it on my blog :)
happy creating everyone!

“Connect” you say?! Well, I haven’t read what has been written about the inspiration theme, but I can tell you that when I first saw the word “Connect”, I immediately thought about the 160+ people I just connected with on a most awesome art cruise!

For 8 days and 7 nights, I spent time creating with women and men from around the WORLD. It was probably the best time of my life so far.

I have been blogging about my journey since I returned on October 18th. There are photos of some of the projects I have completed and some that are still WIP. I would so love for you to stop by and take a look when you can.

cyber hugs and kisses and artful wishes! sherry

moving forward in fits & starts…..the weather has been fabulous, and fall is my favorite time of year, so i have been taking photos & connecting with nature, to be reflected in future projects no doubt! and collaborating with a friend on a holiday window project….

I write in this blog post about reconnecting with a many years old dream… through the creative life force of being an actor, performing… I tell you… this was an exciting, landmark week for me. Still on a high from it!

Hi Leah and everyone else!
Connecting with nature is an activity that we do a lot on these last sunny days of the year.
I have been taking lots of photos in fall colors lately, for future paintings during the cold winter days.
Looking for yellow trees and interesting leaves in the city, I have found an unusual artwork, connecting with my photos to the creative imagination of an unknown person.

Hi there, I’m connecting with my family and myself. I feel that my priorities are rearrenging around my home and immediate family. Very sweet really.

Today I started making Christmas decorations with my youngest little messmonster. It’s school holidays so I have to put my ‘own’ creating aside for a change. It’s a great way to re-connect with family. Photos on my blog tomorrow so I will put the link in then… Ange

Oh Heavens, If I didn’t connect this weekend then I don’t know who did. And although I was running a race and not painting for once, I certainly found a unique artwork right in the middle of a tiny village in the middle of France. Over the space of 3 days, 5000 cross country runners visited this village which probably only has about 500 people living their normally! So tomorrow home made Christmas decs – today, a story of someone else’s art!

I’ve been loving the connecting theme this month. I’ve focused on connecting with the past. I’ve been experimenting with photoshop using photos of my ancestors combined with photos I’ve taken and It’s been a lot of fun. I took my daughters to a cemetery and got some great pictures there. I was so amazed at how much fun they had!

You know, I get really sad as the month comes to an end and we have to say goodbye to a theme. I am wondering if a theme should last 2 months since it takes me almost the whole month to get into a real groove with the theme. Yeah, ok, that’s me, I’ll admit I am a slow one!

I am loving the connections of this month! Thanks Leah!

Life has been so busy lately and happily, there is a lot of “connecting” going on as I get ready for my first art show! Who knew that it would be so much work? But it is a fun kind of labor. Making the art was the easy part! =) The opening is a week from Friday and I finally have everything ready (I hope) so on the 6th, I sure hope to be “connecting” in a big way with other artists and art collectors!! My poor blog is limping along during this busy time but I’m hoping everyone understands that we must have our creative priorities…

Hello everyone. I’ve been using the theme of “connect” this week as my inspiration to make several sketches that I hope to turn into paintings. My recent postings about how I did at Open Studios and the long list of things I need to get done for my art business to get it beyond being a “hobby.”

I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys have all been up too! Life’s calmed down this week so I can start getting to know you guys :)

Haven’t been posting to the blog much (or visiting others either). Never the less, I keep on being creative every day. Just posted my latest painting.
Art On!

A short Photoshop tut on making digital mats.

Leah,

I love the look of your Mexican Chicken Soup, especially the topping of avocado!

I have a small collection of teapots, too. I think maybe I should try drawing some of them as art exercises. I have some that are shaped like fowl and some that look like vegetables. They are such fun.

Sure wish I lived closer. I’d love to come over and see your new house.

xoxo

count me in on the november challenge!

I truly connected with my creative side this month. I expanded to write and explore other forms of short poetry and writing such as fragmentary writing, renga with Twitter poets, and many more micropoetry. As always, I have seen how my haiku, senryu, and tanka became more complex in emotions and topics. Furthermore, to connect with my physical well-being, I took a “haiku break” this month. After all, every poet, writer, and artist needs to have some rest to be a good poet, writer, and artist!

Happy Halloween, everyone! :)

Due to lots of outside diversions from family events and dh’s medical problems, I have drifted off course. I have been doing better for a couple of weeks. I hope this challenge will get me back on course.

Sorry, I hit the wrong box for posting. It is a neat tool, but I can be a little slow on these.
Thank you again for all your inspiration.

I have decided to take the challenge, it gives me the incentive to walk into my studio and do something new while working on my larger pieces. As Xmas is around the corner yesterday I made a bird using some William Morris fabric and I liked the results, maybe all the family will get one.

Cheers

[...] there’s also a woman challenge from Italy on Sunday and the theme this month on Creative Every Day is to connect. Somehow all those ideas together struck a chord within me and I decided I had to do something. But [...]
