Art Every Day Month Check-In: November 19th

November 19th, 2009

aedmlogored

Today is the 19th day of Art Every Day Month. I love the Maya Angelou quote at the end of today's post. It's so true. Some days during AEDM we'll be over the moon with what we've created and other days we won't be. But in both cases we've stretched our soul and grown as artists. It's all good.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links in the sidebar for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post (or specific image if you're linking to a flickr page or other website) instead of your main blog page or website. If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

If you're new to Art Every Day Month, check out the AEDM info page for all the details, then send me an email to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. (If that email link isn't working, you can email me at leah at bluetreeartgallery.com)

Instructions: Please see the Art Every Day Month Instructions post if you have any confusion about how to post your link or how to sign up.

Twitter: Are you participating in AEDM and you're on Twitter too? I'm on there as @leah_art and I've been using the hashtag #aedm to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. I also started a Twitter list for AEDM which can help you easily find Twitter folks who are participating. If you're not on the Twitter list yet and would like to be, send me a DM (Direct Message on Twitter.)

Not everything you create will be a masterpiece, but you get out there and you try, and sometimes it really happens. The other times you're just stretching your soul. -Maya Algelou

Update: I've recently switched web hosts, so my spam filter is catching a lot of comments and storing them until I approve them. If you don't see your comment show up right away, it's probably because I have to approve it first. Thanks for your patience!

Today my art was music! Preparation for a concert in December. Listen to some of the songs we are learning, and look at some of my photographs.

Music is such an important part of my life, it is nice to share it with an appreciative audience.

Little art for a challenge : D

I sure am ready for my necklace to be done so I can move on to something else!

Why is it that I always tend to pick such long, complicated projects???

Rainbow people!

I am so loving this daily creativity and no matter how busy my days, I am making sure to get some me time in.

I have a new photoshop tut up today.

You’re the best, Leah!

xoxo

and some days it’s all about sanity and preserving your soul…..

Dear Leah,
That is an interesting quote, though I think the ultimate masterpiece is in the experience that we engage in through our own expression, and what we make of it. The stretching is part of learning who we are and I think we need that at times to find out how we are really feeling. Wonderful quote. Will make others think.
Just so you know, still working on that crewel embroidery gift and I am enjoying it very much.

doodled a little today, and practiced imprefection!

love that….”stretching your soul.” that is exactly why i’m drawn to yoga and to art. i feel both stretch my soul, my mind, my body…the more we stretch, the more we grow, the more we expand. ahhh….feels really good, even when it doesn’t turn out the way we want it to. TRUST is my theme for the day.

Like I said earlier in the week: the process is the product.. the soul stretching is a given.. and it isn’t ever a just.. it is sacred, holy, pure… and I adore Maya as well.

My theme for today is GRACE! YAY!

I had something for today to show but then when i read the quote by Maya Angelou, i when and took pictures of my “stretching of the soul” and wrote a post.
I guess, i will finish my project from last night and show it tomorrow all complete or at least almost complete ;-)
again Leah, Thank YOU very much for all of your time here.

I totally feel in tune with your thoughts of stretching our soul…even if something doesn’t turn out. Just do…a lot of times I just do without knowing why!

I’m late checking in today as I have been working on that Christmas tree project with 2 friends. We made little ornaments that look like gifts to hang on the tree. Tied up with pretty ribbon, a bow and then attached a loop of ribbon to hang them on the tree. I’ll take a photo and post it on my blog in a little while. The tree will be decorated in less than 2 weeks so with all our busy schedules, we were lucky to be able to get together today in my studio and finish them! They look so festive!

MsKitty is back…still at the beach though!

sometimes things don’t work out as envisioned, but the process and commitment to it are rewarding…

What a perfect quote by Maya Angelou for me today! I’ve been definitley stretching my soul! hehe My flowers flowed better today. There is much more stretching to experience and that is just fine.

[...] this morning on the 19th day, I decided to try a more free style approach. I like these a little [...]

The gift that keeps on giving. See what I made today as a gift for my Bat Mitzvah student, Hannah. Happy creating everyone!

Thanks Leah, for this wonderful quote… it stayed with me the whole time I was painting today!

Love this quote,I am a soul stretcher all the time it seems like.I will remember this, thank you.

I enjoyed your inspirational quote…so fitting for my blog post yesterday for Day #18 and #19’s work. Today I have something different in the works.

Today I posted a Zentangle doodle I made during a class on the meaning of prayer. It’s about self-expression and expressing the essence of our souls. I think you artists can relate!
Much love,
Sandy
