Itty Bitty Kitty Art: White Cat

November 8th, 2009

white cat

I've been thinking of doing a series of "itty bitty kitty art" for so long, so I'm glad that Art Every Day Month has prompted me to give it a go! I've done small cat art before, but I'd like to do a whole bunch of them. Plus, I like saying "itty bitty kitty." Hehe.

This little white cat is acrylic and ink on a 4"x4" cradled board. Oh so cute. I needed something light today after the busy weekend of having house guests over night and hosting a baby shower. Phew! It's been busy. But I'm so glad I carved out this art time. It's amazing what we can do when we set our minds to it, isn't it?

And now to kick up my feet and relax a bit. I'm a tad behind on emails, but will return to them tomorrow.

Oh I love this little kitty! I love the polka dot wall too! I appreciate the way you share so authentically in your posts. Happy rest*full Sunday night!

This itty bitty kitty is sweet. The kitty looks like he has an itty bitty secret :)

Oh! Very cool! I like your ittybittykitty’s expression!

Oh my gosh, I absolutely love cats, and I couldn’t help going: aaw, and oooh. totaly adorable.

I love your itty bitty kitty. He looks so aloof :)

Sweet itty bitty kitty (I love saying it, too!), with the perfect little kitty-doesn’t-need-your-pathetic-human-love expression on her itty bitty face. My Leo Chapo often wears this expression ;)

Well, as you must know by now I have two white cats and I love every square inch of them. I like that you did this on a 4 x 4 area. I have to consider doing something like this when I am pushed for time. Art can be small!

love it!

I love it!

Love Love!! Do a series-yes!

I am a dog person, sadly allerfic to cats, and I love your itty bitty kitty! Very sweet!

This is absolutely adorable, and I love the ‘itty bitty kitty’ name!!
The cat, the polka dot wallpaper….just too cute!!

So simple and clean, yet expressive. Very nice. Do more, please!

I LOVE IT!!!!

Oh, I so love this! I think it’s the kitty’s shadow on the wall that gets me. Awesome!

There is an itty bitty kitty in each of us, don’t you think? Thank you for sharing yours with us today!

Such a sweet kitty Leah! I love the simplicity. I really appreciate your comment about carving out art time. It’s amazing what we can do when we set our minds to it, isn’t it?

I love Wendy Richmond’s writing. In her book “Art Without Compromise”, she states: “When I say do not compromise about your art, I’m not referring to your final product. Instead, I am saying do not compromise about what you need along the way. Not compromising means finding, committing to, and protecting your own unique requirements for making your strongest and most relevant art.” To me that also means prioritizing the time to make art. The intro is here: http://wendyrichmond.com/writing_ArtWithout.html and I believe worth reading.

We have had 2 litters of kittens around here this past summer and my youngest daughter calls them “the itty bitty kitty committee 1 and 2″ Love you itty bitty kitty art.

I like saying Itty Bitty Kitty too!! (So does Claire.) This is a cute one! Do more, please.

White Cat has the same look on her face that my cat does when she thinks you might be thinking of stuffing her in the cat carrier for a trip to the vet……….

p.s. you are too busy! rest up!

Amazing work and this is something light!!?! Very impressive…I just love the whole look and especially kitty’s expression. You are right that “itty bitty kitty” is fun to say…hehe.

what a sweet itty-bitty kitty!!

LOVE the itty bitty kitty – love cats – how very cool – I really look forward to the series – thanks for sharing it all~!~

Ooh! So cute! I love this piece and how sly the kitty looks.

Love it. Such a cute little kitty. Maybe I should look at something small like this, just to get into the every day thing. Lately, even flying girls are too much for my day.

I just love it, Leah! Sooooo cute! :)

So cute! I usually dislike cute art, but this one speaks to me. :)

This will be a great series. He’s awesome.

Wow, what a joy to see! I love your creation, it is so beautiful and so you. :) It is amazing yes when we put our mind to something. You know I’ve not had the pleasure of using acrylics yet, and I have been drawn on many counts. One day, one day. heehe. :)

I adore your itty bitty kitty! Rest up and take it easy!!!

This is so sweet. I’m impressed with all that you are doing this month and to think that you have guests too! I’m amazed at how organized I am these days. I think AEDM has inspired me to be creative yet to pace myself. I’m trying to keep in balance! Oh look at the time, it is time to go get some more rest. I’m loving the colors of this piece and the sweet simplicity of the form.
