Creative Every Day Check-In: January 25 – 31

January 25th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/25/10 - 1/31/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is Body. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with it here.

Happy Creating!

You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. -line from Mary Oliver's "Wild Geese."

Update: It's Thursday evening and the Mr. Linky widget is down. In the meantime, you can leave links in the comments section. I'm sure it will be up and running again soon!

who’d a thunk it? I’m first up this week. I think I’m always going to be a week back when ever I post but hey, I love how this is not a stressful challenge and that we are all so friendly here! Check out what’s I’ve been up to. :) cheers! Stephanie

Following my own whims and energy level. I’m playing in my visual journal on a more regular basis. Found that I can work on pages in stages and not feel pressured to finish in one or two sessions. Also getting more comfortable with actually writing on the pages which is a positive step for me.

Hi Leah, hello everyone,
My contribution to this beautiful theme this week is my last painting, a fantasy with embracing strange bodies in a cave.
Thanks Leah for hosting this beautiful challenge.

My creativity has been erratic lately, I think it has something to do with the Candida diet detox that I’m experiencing, I’m preferring to spend free time in the horizontal position. But it’s a new week and I’m feeling more enthusiastic!

This past week I’ve just been trying to take care of this body of mine and get rid of a wicked headcold. I am feeling so much better and ready to do some new work.

A friend mentioned this challenge a few weeks ago and I have been so inspired to do something creative every day, no matter how busy or tired I am! My personal theme lately has been hearts… that’s a body part, isn’t it? ;-)

Hi Everyone,

This month the theme is the body, and for the past week, I’ve need to honor mine by slowing down and giving it some much needed rest. My quiet time gave me a chance to check in with my Inner Artist to see how she was feeling and what her needs were at the moment. I found out she was feeling a little pressured and overcommitted by some of the things I was taking on, so I made a conscious decision to scale back. Today, I feel renewed.

I’m excited to be participating in the One World One Heart giveaway – please stop by to see what it’s all about and enter for a chance to win a beautiful heartfelt gift from me!

Creatively Yours,
Ramona :-)

Hi Leah, My first link is for the wrong posting (#33) I’m a little mystified about how it showed up. The second post is the one I intended. I talk about my “body” ideas. But, they’re both about my “body of work”: working on drawing MsKitty! Thank you!

This body theme combined with my goal setting is working me, working me, working ME! ARGH!!!

I love/hate it.

Hi all, I love hearing about the creative work you’re all up to!! And I love hearing about how you’re following your hearts and being gentle with yourselves too. As I’m recovering from this cold, it’s a challenge to remember to be extra patient and gentle with myself!

Julie, I don’t think you’re alone with the love/hate thing!! I admire the way you’re diving into it though. And soon we’ll be on to the next theme. I’ll be announcing that tomorrow.

Peggy, I got rid of the extra posting that was at #33, so you’re all set. Love your MsKitty drawings!

xo

This is my first week in the challenge, and I don’t really know that I did much. I think I learned a good deal and did a good deal, but actually creating things, I didn’t do much. I think it will take me a while to get into the swing of things. Hopefully next week I’ll have something a bit more exciting to share. I did post a tutorial on my blog! So that’s something

i’m signing in even though i didn’t get much art done over the past week- here’s hoping next week is more fruitful! but rest is important too, right?

A little bit every day! And the post writes itself if you keep twitter updated. Then on Mondays I just search twitter for “From:Blade21292 #ced2010″ and cut and paste the list!

I’m always slightly confused as to what week I’m talking about – the one I’m on or the one I finished?
At any rate, I’m still scribbling and splashing away in my spare time and sleepless nights. Recently I started practicing drawing things in front of me again, but haven’t abandoned the freeform relaxation of doodling and mandalas.

Hey, Sophie! Either way is fine. Some folks like to wait til Monday to talk about the previous week and others talk about the current week. You can do whatever works best for you!

My spouse guy and I made a music video for a song he wrote with a guest appearance of our cat.

I always seem to be one of the last ones to post on here :P I got through 28 of the blogs last week … hoping to do better this week :)

I am working on the great adventure of getting healthy and losing weight as I’m unfit at present. So I decided I’d paint myself healthy and this is the artwork which resulted. I’m late posting as I lost my little Jack Russell, Rosie, last week, been dealing with the grief of losing our companion of 16.5 years. So this artwork is also a dedication to her and the heart health she’s given me over the years through the love she’s dished out so generously.

Hey there- I have been a little behind on the ‘body ‘ theme- though trying to keep up with being creative EVERY DAY. Thank you for the inspiration Leah and all!
peace,
slee

My check in this week is about body — finally addressing the theme of the month! And sharing other creative things we have going — including the OWOH give-away, new listings on etsy, and more. After being sick this whole month it feels good to have the energy to do a little more! MIracles, k-

I have been slowly working on my body painting but, haven’t posted any updates since earlier this month. Sorry about that. I plan to post before the week’s end! I have enjoyed seeing everyone creations and I think I’m understanding the creative every day goals more because of it. I have been creating in some way *almost* every day :)

Hello Leah and Everyone, This is my first link through this month but I haven’t been slacking! Just put up a post about body on my blog and hope to have another one at the beginning of next week to finish off the body theme. I hope the year has started well for you all. Can’t believe it’s almost February!
Janice.

I just joined in the fun, and will be doing some body-themed pages this weekend to finish up my CED book for January. I still have more of the pages to post, but here’s what I have so far…

I must be nuts. I can’t find the check in page today! I think today is Jan. 28

Hi, I’m Valencia and I’m new here :o ) I’m checking it in and I have made a post on my blog for Jan. 29th 2010! I love the creative challenge, I can’t wait to do next month!

I’m excited and I love to see what you guys have made!

I have not been good to my body this week, moving furniture is hard on this old body, lots of aches and pains.I do have some ideas for reorginizing my art room. Not sure if that has any thing to do with the body, maybe it does.Hope your feeling better Leah.

It has been an interesting experience connecting with my body for this month of January. I am finally learning yoga (taking a yoga class) and a fitness walking/running class. I can’t believe how much tension I have around my neck and shoulders! I guess I have to at least take care of myself better instead of putting myself last!

The link I put above is a haiga collaboration with my college buddy from out multicultural studies class. Also, this haiga is a perfect reflection for what I feel (in my own skin!) for this month, and it gives a sense of something new and fresh!

Enjoy!

Hi Leah and everyone,

I just added my link. It’s my first time here and I’m enjoying looking at all your creative works.

See you.

Added my link–glad I got to do a few body image pages :)

Well as per usual I’m a week late but what the heck! I had fun!

A note to Valencia up above- I tried to leave you a comment on your blog, and also eamil you, but neither option is working at present…just to let you know so you are not discouraged.
I liked your art, I wanted to say.

I’m doing my first mail art project, pix at http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/mail-art.html
