Creative Every Day Check-In: February 8 – 14

February 8th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 2/8/10 - 2/14/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for February is Home. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with it here.

Happy Creating!

Update: Mr. Linky has been going in and out today, so if you don't see it, you can leave a link in the comments or check back a little later. Thanks!

I have been creative every day, perhaps not entirely through ‘art’ per say. But I have been creative none the less. ((I have had to focus on other things besides strictly art recently ~ like, clothing making and hat crocheting :D All very worthy, creative things  ))

I have been working on somethings…. been actually trying to get over the flu and sinus infection but inspired by many thing I have been reading!

organizing as a creative act…making space

It’s so bitter cold here that I cannot help but lean towards the prompt for Feb. of “Home”…it’s good to be holed up here in the nest on these cold days. With puppy Fergus completely housebroken now at 4 months (must be some kind of record!) I do have more time to paint…yay!

For some reason, I can’t see the mister linky today, but wanted to share coz it’s soooo exciting… my Woodmont Ave collection was released today:

Miracles!

I can’t see Mr. Linky either, but here is my weekly check in post. I’ll look back later for Mr. Linky.

Its been a wild and wacky week!

Ok, Hi everybody. I don’t see MrLinky, so here’s a post from me. MsKitty and ToyPony are at home dancing with tulips in CurlyCueLand….flight of fancy? And, enjoy being creative at home!

Every time I come home, my wonderful dogs are waiting to greet me. Named after great artists–Hendrix and Joplin–they are an integral part of my home.
They help me to remember one of the things about home that I like best: to be with people (or creatures) that you love.

a good art week… a painting completed, greeting cards made, and progress made in my visual journal.
Working on ideas for a painting I will do at the fundraiser Unforgettable Art.

well, it seems Mr.Linky was down again.Use http://www.inlinkz.com. It is free, stable, easy to use and even supports linked thumbnail lists.

being part of CED is definitely helping me to stay focused on being creative.
Some of my creativity is still taking the form of getting my art room set up, sorted, decorated and settled into. This fits right in the Home theme for me as does potting plants which I’ve been doing a lot of too. :-)

I’m continuing with my goal of at least weekly creative results. I have started a wc class with Laure Ferlita that is a virtual trip to the beach. My first homework assignment is posted on my blog. Perfect day for it as we are getting 8-12 inches of snow today.

It’s a perfect time of year, at least in the Northeast US, to nest, or fluff the nest. I love the “home” theme, and will use the month to continue making myself home with creativity in every shape, form, or room of my heart. Hugs, Leah~

Hi Everyone ~ This is my first post on Creative Day ~ Ta Da! Great to see you and read what you have posted. My main post is on my blog ~ http://artmusedog.blogspot.com
Suffice it to say that I chose a very different type House Goddess that I had sketched in my daily sketch book ~ She has the essence of both male & female qualities because I believe we all have male/female archtype energies that we need to call upon depending upon the situation. A good book about this is Living in the Light by Shakti Gwain ~ would love hear what you think of my interepretation of “House” ~ namaste, Carol

Thanks, Leah, for all your inspiration! I’m really enjoying the home theme.

The winter weather is getting to me. I keep day dreaming about camping. Right now home feels more like a tent at Kickapoo and the sound of a crackling fire. I’m so restless although I did work on a quilling project I’ve been putting off for a while. I need to get some sun!

Been trying to use these prompts for monthly projects, though I’ve been pretty good at fitting something creative in (not just theme related) every other day or so. Thank you for the inspiration! Please check out this week’s entry….I think it’s pretty cute :) Love to hear what you think!

Hi everyone! I really like this theme of “home”…seems to be just perfect for me in my life about now! happy monday!

Another cold day in North Dakota, but the sun is shining. When the sun shines it makes me happy.I’m thinking of my home away from home today. There is just so much inspiration on here, thanks everyone for sharing.

I had a wonderful weekend of creating taking an Intuitive Painting class. It more than ignited a few passions.

I finished my body themed painting just moments ago! Now that I’m done with the body theme I need to get cracking on the home theme ;)

here’s to a more creative week than last week was:)

Hi everyone, I feel like I have been a bit slack the last few weeks, after participating in OWOH, opening up on etsy and trying to get my exhibition stuff completed I have run short of time!

so here is something we did at home on sunday for our daughter, she loves cooking so we made her a cooking sandpit area.

I love to make magic spaces for children, I get to do all this cool stuff for her that I wish someone had done for me, its like healing myself by fulfilling all the wishes never granted to me.
Lets hope I am wise enough to see where I end and she starts!!! smother mother hahaha

I’ve had a good week of creating! I did post a link, but here it is again since poor Mr. Linky appears to need a vacation—

http://mariasangel.blogspot.com/2010/02/while-i-didnt-work-on-any-of-my-home.html

I have been struggling to be creative the past week or so, but managed to turn it around yesterday, waiting in a doctor’s office for my son after a surgical procedure. Instead of bringing a book to read (it was an hour and a half of waiting), I took my sketch book and some pens, and did a zentangle drawing. It was fun, creative, made the time disappear, and now I feel better. Not exactly in the “Home” theme, but better than nothing.

Now with the threat of another winter storm (we had 26 inches over the weekend!) looming in the next few hours, I think I will just turn up the heater and snuggle down in my studio room, and create – especially since I won’t be going anywhere in the next couple of days!

hi leah! well, i haven’t made it to a home-inspired post yet, because i’ve been totally sidetracked this month in a journal making frenzy involving rubber bands. i’ll leave a link here to the tutorial in case anyone is interested. they are so fun and easy to make!

I’ve been making progress on a freehand embroidery mandala, totally fun! http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/embroidered-just-dream-mandala-14.html

I’ve been creative by singing with my kids every day as we paint, craft, cook or or JUST SING – so have posted one of the songs we most sing in French at the moment! Another will come tomorrow. And have been catching up on planks I have promised of which I posted one yesterday (Tuesday) with colours inspired by Vincent Van Gogh – to go with one of my favourite sayings of his, “You know, the more I think, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people!’

I’ve had a pretty busy week this week, but fun! And quite productive. I made all my valentines, and I’m working on drawing hands for my class. It’s not easy, but I’m coming along.

Also, to tie in with the home theme, I’ve organized some of my crafting things; there’s still a lot to do, but not much space to do it in!!

And I made cupcakes that looked like brains for a Zombieland viewing party! Wicked!

Spring is on it’s way and I think it’s putting a spring in my step. Either that or I just wanted to finish things this week!

Creativity has been great but I’ve been lax on check in and about a week behind with updating on my blog pages-oops. I guess you could say that happens when getting in deep with being creative, with realizing there’s a creative/learning moment to live in and letting other things fall to the way side for the moment. I have my sacred space put together, find I love sitting in front of the bay window on the sofa to work on some things when I have time for myself, or sometimes, just a good book or short nap will do in that same spot! Being pregnant with my second child has brought back my nesting, which is propelling me into a major purge and organize mission before July when my life becomes even more interesting than it already is. Here’s to those moments that are priceless-raise a glass, no matter what’s in it (could be milk).

Hi Leah, I’m enjoying this theme. I’m sharing a photo of my artwork in my home and all the bright, insane colors. The sofa is deep purple velvet, the chairs apple green, there’s blue, red, pink, orange and more.

My latest painting is bright purple and a favorite, because like Matisse, I think it’s great if the art goes with the sofa.

Wow! How amazing to see so many creative souls all in one place!

I just updated my blog with some results of my creative juices over the last month.

Doodles galore!
