Creative Every Day Check-In: July 26 – August 1

July 26th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 7/26/10 - 8/1/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for July's theme is Life. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with June's theme here. August's theme is the element of Fire. You can read more about August's (totally optional) theme here.

Happy Creating!

Been away from the CED blog for a while, but not being CED!
New blog post show some of my latest works.

finally! time this weekend to make (and finish) some art! yay!

To clear away distractions I’m taking a hiatus from FB & other online activities to stand at the easel & paint, just paint!

My work is also getting very busy, but I must have playtime too. CED is a great way to play for me… so tho this week’s post was a “quickie,” it was no less FUN! Have a great productive yet playful week, everyone. (Hi Leah, sweetie! Love that you’re jogging, go girl!)

Summer means I’m freer to be CED in artsy ways — and I’m loving it:) I’m currently working on a little canvas collage for a newborn family member.

I’ve been working on so much these days, really enjoying the Life theme, and I am totally thrilled with Fire. Can’t wait!

Fire…that’s a good one because I surely need someone to light a fire under me!!

Attempting…

i am going to savour this last week of the life theme… creating balance.

We are just having a blast painting, singing, dancing and enjoying summer over at our house. Creativity is flowing along with lemonade and lots and lots of ice cream. It sure is sweet!

Yay, after months of not playing along, I finally have my new art blog up and running! It’s good to be back in Creative Every Day Land.

I’m trying to get up the courage to post my work more regularly, even though I am creating every day. Looking forward to posting more often. Thank you for this spark- I desperately needed it.

The theme of life, for me,has focused on the way I live my life including how I can integrate all aspects of my life with my creative work.

On my blog post this week I’ve included a graphic that illustrates: ‘Creativity makes the world go around and around and around…’.

A happy and creative week to you all.

have been creating even tho I have not been posting – but I am trying to get back to some sort of routine – first taking care of my health!!
happy creating everyone~!~

I’ve learned many things about life this month. A lot of the learning has come from both traditional and contemporary haiku and various Japanese forms of poetry.

The link I posted in the widget is actually the link to my poetry website itself. In particular, the links I’ve posted below are the main foci:

Have a good day everyone! Blessings!

“I am greeted by the garlic drying on the hoosier cabinet in the entry way, as I slipped out to get lemon balm and mint for my tea.” – a quote from today’s post “A July morning”

There is a lusciousness as tomatoes and peas ripen and we eat “the thinnings” from the carrots. I am finishing up two paintings of the Salish Sea and yes, the month of July has been about life in so many ways:)))) Thank you Leah as always for hosting this space to connect. Terrill

Leah,

Thank you for this place to post our beloved art work. It’s so nice to get or leave a comment or two. It just means that we touch each other a little bit.

hi leah-
i haven’t been around in a while but have been creating every day. most recently i’ve been playing more in my kitchen – which i guess goes with your august theme – cooking over the fire has been a blast and i’ve discovered new recipes along that way (that i’m sharing on my blog). would love to hear what you’ve been up to. xoxo

Thank you for CED!! – I know it has made me much more creative this summer. I am an art teacher and tend to get so overwhelmed with all the to-dos that I just shut down. I end up coming in to a new school year and looking back at my summer with a lot of unfinished regret. Keeping up with my blog has kept me motivated to finish things so I can share them with whoever is out there reading it. THANKS AGAIN – check out my latest post which is a fun how-to!

Hi Leah… Have not been online much this month and not getting much artwork done. The heat/humidity here really got to me, too much going on, and been studying for a big certification exam for work. Hoping for a more relaxed and artistic month in August. Am really getting into art journaling from the class with Dirty Footprints Studio!

Hello everyone,
I’m very late this week. Just wanted to sneak one last post in before the Life theme comes to a close. Hope you are all having a lovely summer.

Too busy creating to visit my favorite blogs the past couple of weeks! Catching up and just realized that July is just about OVER. Yikes! – where the heck is the time going?

My latest creation is a charm necklace that was made for the CCC#7 challenge. I used old (almost vintage!) photos mostly of myself as a child. When I look at those photos I can hardly believe that so much “life” has been lived since those days.

Life has definitely been a twisty, turny back & forth one this past month. But now July is ending with some peace and opportunity for growth–so time to heat things up with some Fire!!! I did use some heat in June tho & there is a drawing on my blog for some hot earrings….

I don’t post my stuff often, but I try to add what I’m doing to the Flickr group. CED is my favorite challenge each year! This has been a creative summer, and I’m not really sure why, but having art materials out and about definitely helps. I did a sort of self-portrait in my art journal: http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/a-self-portrait.html.
