Creative Every Day Check-In: July 5 – 11

July 5th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 7/5/10 - 7/11/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for July's theme is Life. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with June's theme here.

Happy Creating!

Thank you again and always Leah.
Enjoying the journey with you all.

There has been a lot that has been going one with “life”… peoples lives ending that I knew and didn’t know… bringing back memories of my best friend that passed at a young age.. then I loss my horse. It all affected me, my emotions and being…. live for the day… enjoy and take in everything…. the sad and happy part of life.

Life… great theme Leah! Before I realized it I wrote about it today. I look forward to celebrating life this month with you all, the ups and the downs are all part of the journey.

Hi Leah, hope you are well and rested after your short break.
And Hello to everyone else! I noticed that several people last month talked about finding bliss in the everyday, and that’s what I’ve posted about here – combining the bliss and life themes.
Wishing you all a good week.

Life can be hard on us and challenge us to rise to the occasion and then it can also be wonderful and sweet in the next breath. That’s why we must always have an upbeat spirit and continue to put one foot in front of the other owhile enjoying what life has to offer in the good times and the not so good times. There is always joy to be had…

i love the life theme.
last night i held a healing circle and it was a huge success. now i am thinking of different ways to create the healing circle, to hold one every month, each one unique but still carrying the same healing energy.
it’s so beautiful how much life can hold. the pain and the bliss and everything in between. i got so much out of the circle last night, just listening as everyone shared with openness, courage and vulnerability.
it’s such a gift that we are not on this journey of life alone.

LIFE has been such that I haven’t been able to create art much lately, but I have still been creative. My LIFEline to the www (my trusty computer) has been sluggish and sleepy –and is now taking an extended nap from which I cannot wake it up. So, I’m having to switch things up a bit, and get creative in finding ways to post! Right now I’m using another sluggish computer :{ But hopefully I’ll soon be able to update my blog with my recent creative endeavours :)

My brain is still clinging to last month’s bliss theme — but it’s such an important aspect of LIFE, that the two themes tie beautifully together. I look forward to enriching my LIFE as well as (hopefully) the LIVES of others by creatively exploring this theme :)

I am working on balancing life and art. You know, sometimes it gets all out of whack. How do you guys manage it?

Still posting The Daily Photographâ„¢. Noticing lots of folks get there from here. And thank you, for that.

How odd to read your blog as I sit here with tears in my own eyes. But how can we find and understand joy without also feeling and understanding sadness. It’s part of the Yin and Yang, right? You have to have the two halves to form a complete whole. Lots of good Ju Ju headed your way from me. Take life slow and savor the smallest joyful moments. They are everywhere.

“Life” is a wonderful theme for the Creative Everyday Challenge. I’ve been working on drawing from life and have a fun time doing it!

Leah you were on my mind this morning. Last week was the first check-in I have missed in many, many weeks. I am here today though with two oil paintings completed on June’s theme of bliss. Now for “life” so interesting because I have been thinking a lot about mortality which is a significant aspect of living. I wonder where this will take me over the busy days ahead in July as my daughter gets married and I help to open the Mayne Island summer group show. Hummmm… Terrill

Do I love being Creative Every Day? I cockadoodle DO. I’m still on a bird kick. Hope you guys aren’t sick of birds yet, HA! As for the “life” theme, well, I guess I’m just enjoying it. Happy July, everyone!

Sorry I messed up linking the wrong post!

But thank you for having this space of support and encourgement … I come here this week and feel it is a touchstone to remind me of all that I am capable of and how dearly i hold my creative life close to me for guidance and insight.

Life … right now it is rocky, offering me challenges I must face and in doing so, I must not loose track of myself and my power and my truth. Thankfully, art does help me process and heal.

mostly my creativity seems to be my blog posts…since I am working as a chef this summer…not much time to do art (yet) ..but blogging about Alaska—with photos— is my creative outlet so far…

To answer your question, Leah: no, I’m not always very good at dealing with sadness in my life. I try to push through it faster and keep it at a distance. This only makes it more painful.

Right now, I’m terribly unhappy at my job. In this economy, if you even hint that you’re not grateful to have a job, people get upset. I AM grateful to have a job, but I also want a job that feeds my soul and is in alignment with my values and goals. I’m just not built to be a corporate crony.

So finding life-enriching experiences in my time off is now crucial. I’m doing my best to treat myself well and give myself plenty of little treats. The good bits of life sneak in, even when the stress and heartache try to block it out.

Love these long weekends. So much so that I took last Thursday and Friday off as WELL to make it even LONGER! :)

Finished up a canvas collage today and have posted on my blog. I’ve named her Annie. In keeping with the theme of “life”, Annie is from a loooong time ago. Not sure what her “real” name was, but I hope she had a good life and likes that I am giving her a new one :)

Leah, can you delete #38 please? It was linking people to a really old post. Thanks!

Life – what a great theme for this month. Sometimes it seems like there is too much going on in life… all it takes is a step back and a deep breath and things look better.

I’ve been working on a painting called Lay Your Weary Head to Rest. I’d love to take a rest, but as long as there is paint in those tubes, I gotta keep going.

seems like photographing various life forms (wildflowers, birds, the garden) is as creative as i have time to be lately- hoping for time to do more this week.

Still trying to paint abstracts with acrylics. Stalled on my latest, so I’m going to try a small triptych to loosen up.

Stay inspired!
Michelle

Since I’ve joined the CED-club, I found it hard to connect with my true creative soul because the most important thing I do -dancing- cannot be “shown” on a blog. But for this check-in, I found a solution: the only way for me to share what I do, is to let you all EXPERIENCE it. So here’s an invitation for a little dance meditation on my blog! ENJOY!

excellent theme Leah.
LIFE is pretty much what my life is about lately. Trying to find ways to live this life so that it is fulfilling, learning to weather storms and value them for the rainbows and peace that come afterward.
I’ve posted a doodle on my blog that is a reminder to not wait – to do something you love TODAY.
I find life so much better when I do that.

I love ‘Life’ as a theme. It’s deep, and wide too! Lots of room to move and play and explore. This is going to be a great month.

I’m trying hard to get back into my creative self..to live the creative life that I have always dreamed of. So I am digging through my studio for things to inspire me. I finished a few projects that I had started and have been looking at completed pieces again. It has been very good for me to do this and I’ll share what I’ve come up with in the next few days. =)

slowly getting back to creating – this time I tried a rectangle zentangle – not sure about it tho~~~
hope all is well with you and yours~!~

My goal recently has been really to increase the good in my life. I’ve had enough of the bad circumstances. Time to get more of the good.
