Creative Every Day Check-In: August 2 – 8

August 2nd, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 8/2/10 - 8/8/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for August is the element of Fire. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with August's theme here.

Happy Creating!

Happy Monday everyone! I’m back from vacation and ready for some “fire” in August. :)

I think I’m going to attempt some pastel abstracts on dark papers this week.

Stay inspired!

happy monday everyone! today i created something new on my blog – a weekly intention post to take a few moments to check in with myself and ask “what do i need this week?” and then set my intention to receive that throughout the week. i love it so far! very centering.
and i am painting new paper dolls and really just loving them – i love watching them come to life.
no fire yet but the day is very early…
happy creating everyone!

Hopefully, I will get a “fire in my belly” soon for the Fire theme of August. But my post this week is on drawing for SketchCrawl with my class, so I will have to burn brighter for our theme next week, HA!

I too am ready to get “fired up”! Let’s go guys!

Wow, lots of excitement here this week already. It’s great to see everyone ready to be “fired” up! I, like Kat, am just back from vacation and ready to set my art on fire (in a good way!). Keep creative!

Fire of inspiration? Fire of passion? Fire under the butt? Let’s see what August brings.

July was kind of downer where my creating is concerned. I was so busy with things outside of creative space and the heat did not help matters any!

Maybe I will use that heat now seeing as August’s theme is fire. I could use that fire under the butt that rowena just mentioned!

I have a whole bunch of creative things planned for this week, so best get started.

Colorful and “hot” creating everyone!

I have been inspired by a practice early morning pages every day in my art journal … just getting the juices flowing before I even drink my morning coffee. I am painting a lot and starting to work on pages for The Sketchbook Project. I’ve decided August is my art retreat month – say less, create more. I plan to limit my time online and blogging and just dig in deep creatively. But I plan to come here each Monday for some accountability :)

and always, inspiration =!

This week I am diving into oils, experimenting all over the place. Portraits from life and from photos, cityscapes and still lifes. Using new mediums, playing around with mixing my own paints. I’m on fire! :)

Fire! what a great theme. Looking forward to playing with fire this month (oops!)

here is hoping that august pushes me to blog more – I am creating which is grand but just to get online to blog is overwhelming to me right now!!!

I just spent a very enjoyable hour, drinking coffee, unwinding from the day and cruising around visiting all the beautiful blogs. Inspiring stuff! Thanks to everyone.

Fire is such a great theme. I can’t wait to get started. I have a wood project that I need to finish with a fire motif so maybe now is the time. Thanks again for the encouragement to create!

I’ve been creating every day–like mad, working on a poetry Ms, working on a novel, drawing, painting, cooking. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to post and link.

Yesterday I made bouillabaisse from scratch, adapting the recipe I found online to my own needs and ingredients. I wrote a couple chapters in my new novel and a section of poetry in my Ms, which has been tentatively accepted for publication.

Looking at this blog, I am so sorry I haven’t been around much lately! I LOVE YOUR WORK!

I love the element of fire! :-D

I want to think about that and incorporate it into my work.

Just joined – terrified! not posted anything yet but thought I’d commit myself by showing my old stuff if anyone cares to look.

Yes, yes… fire and inspiration. What a perfect theme for the fiery month of August. And YOU, my dearheart creative girl, are certainly one of the creative inspirations in my life *Mwah*

fire relates to so much, today i was thinking i need a fire under me to get motivated.

Hello everyone,
Lots of thoughts about Fire. For this week I’m sharing a couple of posts about how to make your own herbal bath oils using the heat of the sun or your stove.
Have a great week – what’s left of it! – and weekend.

My latest “Ablaze” fits right in with the August theme.

Happy CED :) .

Hi there
All glass is made with fire so all glass beads must count for this months theme!! Ha ha!! My Azure Bracelet and all my own beads fit the Fire theme! 80))

I have been on fire this week with my creativity. I know I don’t add a link often enough, but I post something every day, even if I forget to come here and leave a link each week.

Ironically, there was a fire in our neighborhood this week, too, and I got a closeup view of firefighting in action. It was an eye opening experience for me. Although it was not art, it is still worth mentioning. I left a link on my creative wrap up, too.

I hope you are cooler than my neck of the woods. Happy Fire week :>)

Just joined! Late I know, but thanks for the opporyunity! So much great stuff you all are creating!

This is a great exercise…I have a quote up at my “real” job reminding me that if I get bored, I should get busy doing something useful, i.e. creative. I love the group aspect of this. Looking forward to participating!

Adding handwritten quotes to a book I’m altering into an art journal, playing around with pitt pens + white sharpie poster pens etc. http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/altered-book-orangeblue-rev-20.html. Getting into drawing doodly houses in neocolors. http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/pink-orange-neo-cities.html. A very creative week!
