Creative Every Day Check-In: October 25 – 31

October 25th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 10/25/10 - 10/31/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for October is the element of Earth. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with October's theme here.

Art Every Day Month: Next month, the focus (and totally optional theme) is Art Every Day Month (AEDM.) If you won't be participating in AEDM, you can continue to share your links in any of the daily AEDM Check-In posts throughout November. Want to learn more about Art Every Day Month? Check out all the details about the challenge and how to sign up here. And if you're interested in a little extra help, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide here.

Happy Creating!

There are times when I cannot believe I am separate from this earth, when I could swear the wind blows through me as it does the woven needles of the pine tree by the creek, when I feel my feet planted deep in the earth with the roots of trees and wildflowers, drawing essence. ~Cathy Johnson

I have been missing for a while, October has not been the most creative month for me overall with travel and visitors. I am gaining that back, slowly, right now focusing on “the habit of being.”

i’m so excited about art every day month! yah!

This is my second Monday to join all of you and I must say, am way impressed with all the creativity flowing from you. I could spend hours visiting each blog, but I choose about 5 a day so it’s more manageable. My collage a day project is going well, day 39! I still am finding that putting toward the effort to be disciplined each morning is paying off, but I do miss those chaotic, impulsive days of art making just a bit. Hope all of you are surrounded by beauty and much love this week.

I haven’t joined in for awhile. I’ve been participating in The Big Draw this month – click on the logo in my sidebar to see all my sketches so far for October.

See you next month for AEDM!!

this weekend’s posting are a photo celebration of fall in my part of the world. i love this time of year and this weekend was a great reminder of my connection to nature-

My blog post today was about finding earthy inspiration in ancient woodland.

Wishing you all a happy & creative week!

Kat

I am busy getting ready for two Open Studio days Nov. 13th and 14th as well have the inventory of photographic canvas prints, cards and calendars ready for local retail story. Busy time of year for artists I think. Not so busy I couldn’t go searching for Mayne Island Tree Spirits though which resulted in a mysterious post on Friday and like a special calendar – I can find a moment to get it pulled together. Best of the week everyone!

(Leah I accidentally posted on last week for this week – it was what came up when I arrived on the home pages and I didn’t read very carefully… sorry)

I’m loving the fall weather too. Went on a walk and took some nice photos. I’ve been really in the mood to try different textures, dipping sketches in beeswax, sewing paper…

Hello! This morning’s Earth post is an image called Ready Returns that I took and placed under the Purple Shoe Photography section at my blog: Ready Returns.

Hi Leah,

There is no art in this post but I have been creative by making my own network. Check it out on the blog or here http://queenofcreativity.ning.com

Hi everyone,

Yay! I think I am breaking out of the slump I have been in. I have been very creative working on ways to decorate my house. Projects I’ve put off for a long time. I am also starting some new work that centers around maps (which I love). That fits with this months theme of the earth. Maybe I was subconsciously inspired. And I am always inspired by all of you. Have a happy week!

I’d love some honest feedback: should I even continue with this small quilt? Perhaps I should and then just donate it somewhere, a yoga studio in need, maybe. I can’t wait to visit everyone’s blog or website. Thanks, as always, for you all and this website,
Hugs, and joyous creating!

FYI. I have moved my site and in the process of having it designed, so it’s just a template for now. My post this week wasn’t necessarily about the plush toys as it is about the fact that I can photograph them now!!! Yay!

Hi everyone, Everything about October & fall is earthy. This week I’m posting pics of my wedding (hope to have them up by this afternoon) that was held in one of the most beautiful places on planet Earth. Each state we visited on our honeymoon inspired me to my core because of their panoramic beauty. These states are home to my birthplace, first memories and the final earthly resting place of my grandparents. How fragrant it is to walk on familiar soil and inhale its heavenly perfume.

Hi there! It’s been a long time… The theme couldn’t be more beautiful, Earth, coming home into one self… Love and light, Nele

And I forgot to tell: my post is about… reconnecting with the instincts, with Bear as great symbol and representative of Mother Earth…

Hi, I’ve been enjoying the “earth” theme. Odd how I keep coming back to leaves when I think of the earth!

I’ve been missing for a long while when it comes to reading blogs and commenting. Hang in there friends – i”m getting back in the game.

Getting excited about Creative Every Day Month!! Thanks for keeping us going Leah!

Making less serious art is a good thing. I’m not heavily hung up about writing because no one ever told me I was a writer. The bar is set pretty low. But I was told that I could paint and draw. So in my crazy brain I think I have to do something “painterly”…maybe not…. phew what a load off. ( drawing is at bottom of post if you dont feel like investing the time. :o )

Still working on the earth idea!

It’s a good thing you are pretty relaxed about what counts as creative every day because I kind of have that wide angled approach covered. This is such a wonderful gentle and encouraging program. Thank you for running it!

I love your collage, Fall Collage. In today’s post I’ve hosted a little quilt show, of my Wednesday group’s block swap and the wondrous quilts that resulted.
Hugs,
and happy viewing.
Tina
Thank you for this!

I’ve been writing more gogyohka (Japanese form poem) and experimenting with haiga (Japanese form poetry with pictures). I completed two 5k races and went to a few football games. I think that’s plenty of earthiness! :) It was a hectic, busy month but I’ve learned a lot about myself, how I need to keep myself GROUNDED when things are chaotic!

Just finished my new journal to use for Art Everyday Month… very excited… third time and it is what got me going in being creative again! Thanks Leah!

Hi! Just popped in to see if there is a theme posted yet for November. I’ve been posting images using the earth theme since I added the Creative Every Day 2010 icon under Fun Things to Do on my blog in October.
