Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 8

November 8th, 2010

aedmlogored

Welcome to day 8 of Art Every Day Month. We've made it through our first week. Congratulations! I know it's far easier to focus on what you haven't done, but take some time today to celebrate what you have accomplished in the first week. It may be more than you would have otherwise, so celebrate that! And if you're just getting started, celebrate that! p.s. Sorry, I had this posted at the wrong time. It's in the right place now!

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

Hoo boy that post of mine; I did some more monoprints but that’s really the very small end result of a lot of musing on things.

No, I haven’t gone bonkers putting two links in. The first one is to pics of mandalas that were created by participants in the workshop held at my home on Saturday to honour the New Moon in Scorpio.

The second post relates to my stuffing around with watercolour pencils. I’ve had them for ages but never got around to working with them as I’ve never worked with watercolours before. But it was great fun. I’ve even got tomorrow’s artwork planned!!!

A CED’er checking in this week, waving hello through the window at the AEDM participants! :) Hope things are going well for you all!

I made it! A whole week of layouts! Thanks for the inspiration.

BTW: Your 8th day post is below the 7th. Somebody reading from the top would only see November the 7th and might sit & wait till the 8th is published. ;) I saw it on my feeds and looked for it as I knew it was here somewhere. :)

posted the pics of my pink wall!!

Well, I’m FINALLY getting started… and it’s only day 8!! I’m trying to pat myself on the back for even TRYING this year with all the stuff I have going on. I’m truly enjoying seeing what everyone else has been doing and feling totally inspired.

What a fabulous creative community has been created here! You go Leah!!

Today’s art is very different for me. Shows my cynical side which isn’t necessarily a bad thing…

So glad it wasn’t just me that missed Day 8. I thought maybe all of our creativity had crashed the system. lol
Stay inspired!

And on the 8th day SueDoodles had some help from a friend and had fun!

Haha! It was there, it was just published under day 7 by accident. Some folks found it earlier, but it’s in the proper place now. Phew! :-)

Woot, woot day 8! What’s up everybody?

Creating again with piknik. This is fun!

Looks like AEDM is still going strong for week two! Forty-four posts already by 10:30 a.m. mountain time. Thanks for keeping us all motivated!

I posted 2 pictures to the group on flickr. I’ll be coming back to link to my blog, once I’ve posted.

Photos of our day trip yesterday to Coronado Heights. Awesome views, and a castle!

Blergh.

Another photo and writing exercise posted on my blog today.

I’m really touched by the community spirit and support found on this AEDM challenge. Its been fantastic.

Happy creating!

Wonderful work, everyone. Keep ‘em coming. :)

Ooops, I somehow added my link and my comment to the wrong posts. Sorry about the redundancy. But, as I am very grateful to everyone, I’ll thank you all again for the support and encouragement. AEDM has been really great so far. And thanks so much, Leah, for organizing it all!!

you are keeping me on my toes! i’m loving this on the fly stuff – it’s making me realize that i can do a lot more than i thought in a short amount of time. this morning i finished illustrating a book-o-meter poster for my daughter’s school. a month ago i would have dwelled on it for weeks, and in this “everyday mode” i was able to finish in three days. thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you everyone for your great comments. Thank you Leah for this wonderful intense period of inspiration and creation..

I, too, am enjoying the challenge of not just creating everyday but posting and sharing it. I’m getting into a routine which is GREAT for me as I need structure. They say it takes 21 days to create a habit so maybe this is exactly what I need (and others I’m sure) to keep us going throughout the year!

Today’s post is about creating something outside ‘of the lines’…a style I don’t do a lot but love it when I tackle it (showcased in my journal). Also see a few bits of papers I created using citra solv altered papers which I use in my borders.

Happy Creating! Jodi

My computer needed an overhaul yesterday so I posted in the afternoon instead of in the morning. I did that today too. I am going to try to get back on track and post in the A. M. I like to do it first thing. It starts my day off on an upbeat note.

Today I sat and chatted with a grove of trees in the background. Still embedded in my head I came home to finish the start from this morning. Alphabet Grove..Ha!
I should put a little house in the woods and pretend Hansel and Gretel dropped the letters as they went in circles, lost in the woods.

Still having fun, but I am kind of bummed that I won’t have too much time this week to actually do much art since i have a huge end of the semester crunch of homework that must be done by noon on Saturday. But, what can you do? I will do what I can, but the rest of the month should prove more productive for me. I LOVE seeing all the other artists work, very inspiring!

I don’t seem to be able to blog every day, but I did blog today with the last 3 days worth of art. I really want to make this effort to do some art every day an ongoing practice instead of only in November. I always feel so much better when I do express myself a little (or a lot!) every day. I don’t know yet how I will cope in 2 weekends when I have family members over to stay with me for an early Thanksgiving celebration. I’ll just have to keep my sketchbook handy at least, or something.
