Art Every Day Check-In: Day 3

November 3rd, 2010

aedmlogored

Today is the 3rd day of Art Every Day Month! I love seeing what everyone is creating and truly wish I could visit every single site every day. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough hours in the day! So please do stop in and see what others are up to and leave a comment. I promise, you'll be inspired!

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!  ~W.H. Murray

I woke up this morning feeling energetic with some sketch ideas in mind.
I am so proud that today I can at least finish something ;-)

Here’s what I did this morning:

Just wrote on my blog and posted a picture of my journal page makeing a commitment to doing art everyday this month.

Having insomnia has it’s benifits. I get to post early. Today I was soldering and making pins. My post shows a 1.5 inch Gemini pin. This is 3 days in a row….I think I can actually keep up all month long.
See you tomorrow!
Marianne

My post for today: felted soap.
Enjoy the day!

I posted a start to the day – hoping to get my fingers working for some fabric cutting later :) .
Stay inspired!

Oooops! Made a mistake. Left Sabine´s name on my post. Would you please delete #16? I posted my name on #17, that is the right one.

just wanted to say hey everyone! :)
i am so enjoying the challenge but haven’t photographed any of my work yet. going to do an aedm post once a week on fridays i think with my updates…
but it is great to see what everyone else is doing.

My project for last night turned out to be an inspiration to take me through this month long journey of creative project-ing.

I think she will live on my desk to remind me to have fun.

I am currently working thru a slump. This did not turn out the way I envisioned it but I created something.Yeah!

I had a lousy day today, so my results aren’t the greatest. But! If it wasn’t for AEDM, there wouldn’t be any art at all. So thankyou, Leah, and all you wonderful fellow arty peoples. I’m sure my piece isn’t the only piece that exists solely because of this challenge.

Nutty
(one minute to midnight, one minute before this lousy day is over…er, mostly lousy, there was art, so that was good :D )

Love seeing what everyone is doing…so inspiring. Thanks Leah, and all who participate!

Despite being busy because its my son’s 7th Birthday today – I did manage to carve some time out this morning to finish a large doodle I’ve been working on and have just posted on my blog.

Right must rush off – Birthday tea to prepare………

There is FOOD on my blog today. ’nuff said ;-)

Day Three! I have yet to get pix of my work (that which I can photograph) on line, though I am reveling in the awareness of how much I savor the art of living! Including the art of cooking for my family, 3 meals a day, every day, the art of rest, I actually slept in till 9am on day one (3 hours later than my 4 year old and her daddy) the art of blogging, and yes, the sweet, simple, soul fulfilling expression of art…in all her forms. Yesterday I painted a watercolor sign (my first watercolor since I was a kid!) “YOU ARE LOVE!”

Finished a mandala that I’ve been working on late at night, reminds me of totem poles! http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/vancouver.html.

Been making some great blog friends here!

I’ve just found the Art Everyday Challenge today so I’m signing up! Today’s post is a creative manipulation of a photo I recently took.

I’m looking forward to visiting everyone’s art – this should be so inspiring!

a doodle today about the value of an everyday moment. a LOT of navel gazing : D

Trying a new technique. It is still in it’s half-formed monster state.

I’m savoring this energy of excitement and working on an artful project everyday. I know this too shall pass. I also know that when I get enough sleep and do art first thing in the morning, it makes all the difference in my day. That’s something I can continue to do even when it’s not what I feel like doing and the energy and excitement will come. Thanks Leah!

It’s fun seeing all the different ways of being creative!

Lovely way to start the month.
Thanks for starting this, Leah :)

I posted on my blog my Day 2 art that I worked on. All I had time to do was the stained glass project that I created last night in the class that I taught. I demonstrated how to do a 3-dimensional piece, which happened to be a night light, with a butterfly overlay. This seemed appropriate for me though as I am trying to transform myself into a better and more consistent artist. My intention is to still work on some sketches in my Sketchbook Project book for today (Day 3). I may consistently be a day late reporting though, since I tend to do my creating late in the day.

Made my own AEDM icon. Free for all to use, as long as they link back to Leah’s page.

Thank you as always to Leah and this wonderful challenge

OK! Here I go… I can’t believe I made to day 3!!!
Excitement is rising! Thanks Leah.

I just joined up and I’m thrilled I found this (thanks to a friend).

Finished up the painting of the girl drinking a milk shake with a cherry on top today. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. :)

:) I’m #74 & #76. Messed up on that one Leah, sorry. #76 is the correct link for my day 3 – another journal page.

Thanks for your help Leah!

Sabine is very new to blogging. We created her blog together this past weekend while our daughters played together too. :D
We have agreed that she makes her post by herself and then I manage all the linking stuff. That´s what friends are for. ;)

I wrote and journaled about be persistent about your dreams. For me, it’s easy to listen to the negative inside of my head….but when I’m creating, I truly believe anything is possible. It gives me hope and then I start believing again. :)

Persist

I tried something different today.

and that’s my contribution to the 3rd day. hope y’all like it.

It makes me laugh a little that I post my contributions for Day 3 on the West Coast after Leah’s post for Day 4 has gone out on the East Coast! I feel like these first few days for me have been about getting things prepared… getting my ducks in a row…

I did some monoprints today for the first time since art school.

Yeah, I’m late too Sunny. Though actually I’m on the East Coast, come to think of it. Just a night owl, I guess. :)

I typically work late in the day, or at night, so here is my Day 3 project: a homemade rubber stamp. Day 4: a project made using said rubber stamp. :)

I am having fun with this….I need to scan what I am doing, the images aren’t the greatest since I took them with my IPhone….but I use the IPhone to get them posted quick.
