Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 13

November 13th, 2010

aedmlogored

Today is day 13 of Art Every Day Month. Sometimes it's harder to create on the weekends when time is (for some) more loose and unstructured. It may help to carve out a "date" with yourself, an hour or two that's dedicated to your creating.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

I’m actually posting twice today because yesterday, although I created a set of rune stones, I was a bit under the weather due to a couple of bad nights’ sleep with hip pain. So the first post is for the rune stone set, and the second is for the piece of artwork I worked on today. It’s been good working on two different projects.

I tried doing an ecard today. Would you be interested to send one with my drawing?

I posted two versions of today’s painting. Everyone is invited to come over and tell me which one you like better (or if you hate them both!).

[...] My Art Every Day contribution for day 13:  playing with copper etching.  The round copper was retail and clean, the rest was recycled and I didn’t wipe it first with alchohol which may have made it less etchable.  The coin words will go on a charm bracelet sometime this week. [...]

A little creative advice (from me) for when you are stuck (like me) in a big project.

Morning all,

Despite this being a much needed catch up day, I am so thankful for all the inspiration and sharing this month.
Thank you Leah and thank you to everyone who shares.

How true is that quotation you used today?!

Offering a little hope and inspiration with the mandala for todays AEDM post. I think we need these symbols in our lives when days are dark and unfamiliar.

I took an amazing photo of sunkissed clouds late yesterday afternoon. I hope you enjoy it!

I titled this entry “Miz Katie is losing her ever loving blogging mind”. I complain a lot about the blogging part of this challenge in this one.

What’s the hardest part of the challenge for you? Please leave a comment on my blog, and let’s talk, especially if you have any suggestions for making it easier.

A quickie post of “Fire and Rain”. Hooray for perylene scarlet!

i made a necklace!

Finally had the gut-feeling that my piece was finished. I’ve been working on it for a while layering color, changing my mind, layering some more, until my gut said, “that’s enough!” Now I move on to the stage of: ‘crap!-i-hope-i-didn’t-overwork-that-piece-too-much.’ *sigh* lovely work as usual everyone.

I haven’t posted for a few days but today’s blog catches up with my last few days. I miss not painting big and bold and doing the fine touches..Hope my hand heals soon.
Leah love yesterdays and congratulations and the coming new life.

Imagination and happy accidents posted on my blog today!

Hope you’re all having a happy & creative weekend.

Kat :-)

I’m wondering who will get my joke today.

I’ve been drawing on a watercolored mandala, usually I draw first, then paint, so that’s a twist! http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/havana-rev-21.html

I decorated my current art journal (a moleskin) and a new one I just purchased (a strathmore mixed media visual journal)

I’ve been doing a lot of drawing and painting of faces, as well as working on an altered board book (my first altered book!) That’s what you’ll see in today’s blog post. I did more work today, but my photos didn’t turn out very well so will have to wait until tomorrow to photograph them better in natural light.

Today I practiced bravery.

I linked twice because I got the wrong day.

I have no idea what I did wrong. If you can and want to, just delete the extras. 11/13 should be http://bit.ly/alXneJ and 11/14 should be http://bit.ly/cqqhfd.
