Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 18
November 18th, 2010
Welcome to the 18th day of Art Every Day Month. You are all amazing. Yes, you! Thank you for sharing your creativity!
The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!
If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work. If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.
How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.
Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.
Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!
Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.
Your creativity is waiting for you like a dancing partner. -Barbara Sher

I can’t believe I am the first one to post

And I’m second, Rae! I cheated a bit today as I was tired and didn’t want to push myself to do artwork for the sake of it because that way it usually turns out to be mechanical. I re-visited a painting I did just before the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria in February 2009, and fiddling around on Photoshop found an effect which actually lights up the fiery effects in the painting. It looks alight and it’s an Earth Goddess figure, which is why I’ve re-named it Earth Alight.

Hope it’s Ok to post my butterfly boxes. Not creative enough to do a project every day but happy with these ones done today.

Wow! A haiku inspired by a picture I painted over a photo. This was so fun.

I’m giving myself permission not to post every day now… it was taking me down, becoming an obligation instead of fun.
But hey I’m so glad I’m here, it changed all my days into a challenge and it’s slowly establishing creativity as a state of being, WAW! The last days I was just haunted by this severe inner judge, so giving myself permission is really just a way to ban that tough man!
Here’s some fun: I made a crochet head-gear for the gear-handle! Made me feel like decorating that whole dull car interior
Love you all! (still working on that surprise for you guys, I drew my hubby into it now for professionalizing

Leah – look at all this red showing up in your art! Is baby going to be a fire sign?!
Posting some new creations in ceramic and jewelry – more new lines springing into existence because I am focusing on creativity every day. Awesome! As always – thanks for the space to do this!

Nele, good for you for giving yourself permission and making it work for you. Looking forward to this surprise!!

Mo, I don’t consider that cheating at all!! I think it’s wonderful to re-visit and/or re-work older work during Art Every Day Month! Why not?

Yesterday was all about crafting with my Grandkids and sketching with my Granddaughter. Fun creative outlets!

I continued working on my music themed collage today. I started it last week but put it aside to work on other things. Today was a learning experience – ie. learning through things going wrong. I’ve posted about it on my blog.
Hope day 18 has been good for you all!

I always enjoy checking in here and reading the various discoveries and viewing the inspiring and eclectic blend of creAtivity!
My discovery for this year’s #aedm is: Being creAtive every day is not merely a tangible practice {photographs, writing, painting, collaging, etc.} it is liberating yourself from shoulds and shalls, regret and obligation — of running faster. {Step-by-step …}
pavinee: a change of environment is a great idea!
Mlissabeth I have been using Paint, too! Love what I have been able to do with it. And I just received PhotoShop Elements and look forward to learning how to use it, too!
Nele I ♥ your pink crochet hat {and I agree about allowing ourselves the liberty of not posting our art very day}. I have learned so much during the year’s #aedm {!}

This began with a zentangle, to which I added watercolor pencil. I wanted to see how the Micron pen would work before and after washing the pencil with water. Now I know – wash first, then add pen. But I learned.
