Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 15

Today is the 15th day of Art Every Day Month. We're half-way through. Congratulations!! Remember to focus on all that you've done this month instead of what you haven't done. I'm incredibly inspired by your creations and I hope you've been inspired as well, both by yourself and the work you've seen by others.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, for day one I would link to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I've been using the hashtag #aedm2010 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

To be an artist is not to wait for others to define us, but to define ourselves, claim our lives… -Jan Phillips

UPDATE: This morning, Mr. Linky was down for maintenance, so some folks left their links in the comments. If you don't see the widget when you're here, you can leave your link in the comments too. Thanks!

The Owl and the Pussycat, Take Two

Day 14 of Art Every Day Month. You may remember that I did an Owl and the Pussycat painting already this month (on the first day!), but I came across a different sketch I'd done for this painting and really wanted to bring it to life too. So I did! This one is also acrylic paint on 6"x6" panel.

I can't believe we'll be half-way through the month tomorrow. Time flies! I hope you're having fun with this. I am. :-)

Out of the Woods

Day 13 of Art Every Day Month is upon us! Today, I had an idea, but not a lot of time to bring it to life, as I spent a good part of the day being lazy with the hubster. So I may do another version of this another time. It's about 6"x10" with acrylic on paper.

Today is day 13 of Art Every Day Month. Sometimes it's harder to create on the weekends when time is (for some) more loose and unstructured. It may help to carve out a "date" with yourself, an hour or two that's dedicated to your creating.

The Walk

November 12th, 2010, Comments (26)

For day 12 of Art Every Day Month, I created intuitively and playfully. I didn't know where I was going, when I put ink on watercolor paper and let it drip. I let it sit for awhile and wasn't seeing anything I wanted to pull out, so I started painting over it with acrylic and let that sit for a bit until I saw an image I wanted to play with. I cropped the paper I was working on and drew in the figure.

It's was a little hard to take a picture with the shiny gold paint, but I think I got the essence of it. I'm calling it "The Walk" and it's about 6"x9" with ink and acrylic on paper.

What’s Behind

November 11th, 2010, Comments (26)

For day 11 of Art Every Day Month, I had the urge to play with collage. I put the elements together first, glued them down, and then let it sit for awhile. Eventually, a curve stood out to me that made me think of the curve of a shoulder, so I started sketching and this image came out. I was going to develope it a bit more, but decided to leave it simple. It's about 9"x12".
