Red at Night

November 28th, 2010

For day 28 of Art Every Day Month, I was back in my studio and feeling like playing. I worked with fluid acrylics on wet watercolor paper, sprinkled on some salt, and then let it dry. I looked for an image in it after, and then painted and drew in the figure, moon, and stars. It's about 7"x9."

Such a lovely image. I love the way she seems in deep contemplation and prayer as she gazes off into the sky.

What a cool effect! I wonder if that would work on a clay piece?

This is a truly beautiful painting. Left me totally speechless. Thank you!

Love the background effect. It looks so strong, might be powerful in a large scale :-)

oooohhh…I really love this one. Especially the royal colors!

LOVE, the background, Leah (– and of course your lady) ;) Thanks for explaining how you did it!

This is soooo cool. She reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood…It makes me feel like something dangerous just beyond the page is watching her…I LOVE IT!

the aurora borealis never looked so good. stunning.

Leah, this is breath taking. It evokes so many different emotions. Calm and power at the same time.

Red Riding Hood reminds me of a tall cedar tree… one that’s been hollowed out, for clothing, baskets, or canoes… what we in BC would call a CMT (culturally modified tree).
