Squirrel in a Snow Storm

November 8th, 2010

Day 8 of Art Every Day Month. Not every day can in a direction you like and today's art did not go the way I hoped. Ah well. I do like the little squirrel, inspired by the crazy squirrel I've seen flying through the air to get on top of our bird feeder during the crazy wind storm we're having. He's an acrobat! And it was still fun to play.

And by the way, weather gods, I'm not looking to call the snow forth by painting snow! Heh. I'm not ready!

I don’t know, Leah, you may be invoking cold and snow with that one. Brrrr! You can feel the wind that squirrel is riding on! Very lovely:)

This one does look cold and blistery! Love the squirrel. We have a crazy red squirrel that gets very agitated when you walk h=under his tree. This one reminds me of him.

that is so wonderful – you totally caught the feeling and movement of the wind – I really like this

Beautiful!
There´s a song I love that has the line “It´s more difficult than seeing the wind´s shadow”. I should send the singer this piece. I can SEE the wind :D

Love the swirls and movement of the trees. Great way to depict the wind. Your little squirrel is cute too :) .
Stay inspired!

I can almost feel the cold just by looking at this picture. Wonderful work,Leah!

It may not be how you planned but I really love it. And I thought that before I read that you didn’t like it – so this is not a kindness type comment. This picture is full of movement and power – love it. I would hang it on my wall for sure.

I’ve tried to get photos of the squirrels flying from tree to tree – but alas my camera doesn’t have a fast enough shutter speed to properly capture. They can be annoying destroying our bird feeders but they are still lovely creatures I think.

love this … you can sense the cold but I also get a sense of joy and freedom and as always I love the blues..

ooooh, it looks lovely to me… and i have a feeling that is on the way sooner than we think! i love the feeling of the movement of the snow and the wind!

This would make a beautiful Yule card! Love the squirrel too!

I can feel the wind blowing and see the snow flying in this painting. Brr! Not ready yet, either. I was lucky to enjoy 75F today, and I’d like to keep it like that for a while.

that squirrel is absolutely adorable – thanks so much for stopping by my blog – I so appreciate the feedback and encouragement – take care of you!!

Hi Leah! I love seeing the patterns of your work that makes it you. The trees here have this flowing energy that I’ve seen before in other work. The squirrel is very whimsical. I enjoy seeing the fun you have with your work.

When I was in Massachusetts last Spring I stayed in a second floor apartment. It was like sleeping in a tree house to this California girl. Seeing a squirrel up that high delighted me (used to California ground squirrels)… so your flying squirrel delights me on SOOO many levels. LOVE it!
