The Walk
November 12th, 2010
For day 12 of Art Every Day Month, I created intuitively and playfully. I didn't know where I was going, when I put ink on watercolor paper and let it drip. I let it sit for awhile and wasn't seeing anything I wanted to pull out, so I started painting over it with acrylic and let that sit for a bit until I saw an image I wanted to play with. I cropped the paper I was working on and drew in the figure.
It's was a little hard to take a picture with the shiny gold paint, but I think I got the essence of it. I'm calling it "The Walk" and it's about 6"x9" with ink and acrylic on paper.

I love the intensity of those colors.

I love the way you work, pausing at intervals and seeing what shapes/ideas inspire you onto the next stage.
Very passionate vibrant colours.

Leah – I love this one too! It reminds me of taking a nowhere in particular kind of walk, and pulling in all the beautiful colors.

As soon as I saw this it went ‘BANG!’ and whalloped me in the face – in a very good way! The colour is so strong, it’s full of energy. Great piece. This week I’ve been freeing up my style too. Trying to maintain correct proportions and structure but letting go with the shading, paint and backgrounds. It’s very liberating, if a little scary! It’s been a great week.

I love the blends in this. The subtle shift from one colour to the next. And you figure has such movement. Great work.
Thanks for sharing.

I am especially attracted to the reflections in the lower part. Maybe it is because of my love for river, I don’t know…. but I do know I love it.
