Creative Every Day Check-In: January 17 – 23

January 17th, 2011

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: Read all the details and sign up for the  2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/17/10 - 1/23/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag  #CED2011 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is the Cosmos. You can read more about the theme and some ideas to get you started here.

Happy Creating!

I’ve been successful in being “creative everyday.” Mostly I’ve been working on The Art Sillyness 3. Working on finding my voice.

I’m really enjoying the challenge so far! I haven’t had the chance to incorporate the theme yet but I hope I will.

I am so glad I decided to join in this challenge, it has been a great experience so far!

sketching….

Hi all!

First: Leah, I really enjoyed your post on being a beginner; thank you!

My wrap up for last week, and ideas for this week, are posted on my blog: http://mosaicmamacreations.blogspot.com under “Days 10-16: Trusting Myself & Finding My Pace.”

Also, I posted a quick story there about a lesson my little nieces taught me about being creative: “Two Half-Pints Teach Me a Big Lesson.”

I appreciate this opportunity to check in because, if I hadn’t paused to think about and list what I’ve been up to, I would have sold myself short, thinking I didn’t really do anything.

I hope all of you are doing great and enjoying your unique creative journey.

I love this!
Tracey

Hello Leah, hello everyone.
Nothing to do with the Cosmos just yet … maybe later in the month. But for the last few posts I’ve been reviewing what I achieved last year (quite a lot, as it happens!) and decided to link one of these posts through here.
Wishing you all a happy week!

Leah, I gave the challenge a shout out on my blog today. I have found it so wonderful to just participate with the idea of being “Creative Every Day” over the last year, rather than have a specific “thing” I must do every day to join in. It is such a fun community of diverse artists and creativity. Such a great idea. :)

I had the horrible sensation of the clock ticking at double speed this morning. But visiting a few blogging friends has calmed me down and inspired me.

I haven’t done anything on the ‘cosmos’ theme yet but I have been busy creating. I hope to do something on the cosmos theme this week.

Wishing Everyone A Happy & Creative Week!

Have just blogged about my creative efforts since signing up for the challenge – not much each day, but the challenge has encouraged me to at least try something, however small, every day so far :)

Still trying to find time to be creative in the ways I want to be, and continuing to be pushed by this challenge. I love it!

Good Morning! I’ve started off this Monday with the Dragon in the Moon. Yesterday was full of creativity and poetry writing. I posted a link to the poem yesterday, on last week’s updates here.

May you all be graced with that which makes you feel productive in the coming week!

Stay inspired!

I don’t consider myself an artist or a photographer but I love the idea of being creative everyday. I post on my blog as often as I can. For me, being creative is through playing with my children, writing blogposts, writing in my journal, and making not-so-good art.

I love creative people!

Hello Leah and everyone! I am setting my intentions on finishing three paintings I am working on this week. It is a wrap-up week rather than starting anew. Feels good as this is sometimes when surprising things can happen. A new learning, a new idea, a thought that takes me in a new direction. I find it is a less frenetic time than at the beginning of a creative project. I haven’t pick up the creative theme of the cosmos this month but I have been admiring the moon and stars at night. Who knows where that may lead?

I’m having such a great time doing this so far Leah. I’ve actually done a bit every day so far.

Hi, Leah and all:
I’ve been enjoying my daily practice of writing on 750words.com, and the, when all the “brain junk” is cleared, writing on my blog. I’ve also managed to create some promotional materials for some workshops I’ll be teaching this spring, and had an idea for a new website — so stay tuned. Thanks for the nudges!

Hi, I just updated my blog with the homework for the Strathmore Visual Journaling Workshop 1.

Well, I haven’t done any painting in over a week now, but I have done some baking! I made banana bread and it was aMAZing. And very easy, which is the main thing.

Hi everyone.
I’m still trying to do a comic everyday. This challange is great thank you Leah.
Deb

Sorry I forgot to include my comic blog.

Friends, I am not sure about yours bur What a challenging week it has been for me! I had several projects started and yet found myself extremely overwhelmed by the mundane. But I did not give up. A large part of the week went in reorganizing my thoughts and trying to set up some of the glitches on my website. Then I got back into the swing of things and managed to complete one of my doodling projects and get on with a canvas I had started. I was hoping to complete that canvas tonight, but it seems like I was rather ambitious and was cramming all the fun…so I decided to slow down and enjoy it. If it takes a bit longer it may just be more fun. I have to learn to better pace my activities. This has been perhaps the most valuable lesson of the week together with giving myself the space to take in and learn as I move ahead. Lessons I already know and need to live by:Perfection is not the end of any work not is there an end to any work. I have to keep reminding myself that even though I have a lot to say, I don’t need to say it all at once. I must make space and time for emptiness and organizing of my thoughts and moving forth with play.
I hope to be able to set up a couple of pics on my blog soon. Yes, I must, please nudge me when you can!
I wonder how things have been for all of you…

I just found your blog, creative challenge and signed up! I’m looking forward to sharing with this group.

such a great way to share our art and lives. thanks, leah.

Hi Leah,

I’ve forgotten – when are you due? Do you know if it is a boy or a girl? or would you rather not know ahead of time?

Isn’t it a totally magical experience to be growing a child?

xoxo

I just watned to share some images of inspiration from my pilgrimage to Israel. I’m now back in the States and ready to create!

Fun quote, Leah! I’m working on a little bit of this and a little bit of that; most unworldly!

I’ve been creative every day in different ways and in varying degrees… I’ve painted, tried cooking a new recipe, played, shared on my blog (a lot), and have been brainstorming lots of creative ideas for my art and my living space!

I’m about as broadly unfocused as the cosmos… but ah, all that creative space ;-)

This morning’s post is One, a charcoal and oil pastel drawing.

Yay. I finished my valentines for a fund raiser I am entering. Now I can get back to my other artwork. I just posted a picture of a glorious sunrise I took a couple of days ago. The sky looks like it is on fire. Come by and check it out!

I did a lot with the this month’s theme and January isn’t even over yet! It made me look at the moon, sun, stars, etc. on a different, even higher if not spiritual level!

Thanks for this theme, Leah! :)

I am really enjoying this months theme, Leah! I have liked thinking about the cosmos, and all the ways in which we view what it is – and what it does. Thanks for all you do.

Here is the link to this weeks art –
http://reneeswritingonthewall.blogspot.com/2011/01/another-cosmos.html

In my mind I creative everyday, but actually getting it out in physical form is always difficult. However I will keep trying.

I love that the year is starting with cosmos…

A couple weeks ago, I posted the song Winter by Tori Amos on FB. I haven’t been able to get the lyrics out of my head since then! I have been thinking about white horses most of all..so, I had to paint one. It’s my first time, and it needs more work, but I like it!

I am loving my new vibration of creating my life everyday! I am the creator of a beautiful dream. I am not at the consequence of life….I sit in the driver’s seat. And it feels yummy to really know that. I am claiming artist in my life and all that means to me. Being a part of this challenge is perfect. Just about to post some recent pics on my blog that are reflecting my stepping into the dream. Love, Jeanie

Is it ok to link more than once? Have had quite a creative week! Doing this online photography self portrait class is opening me up to new ideas and ways to do things, plus I’ve had a commission for six mini paintings someone wants to sell on their website! Exciting times. My word of the year (expansion) is kicking in with enthusiasm! :)

Hi Leah – I’ve signed up – again. Finally figured out how to put your image on my blog!

Hi Leah – Love your full moon dream board. Went for a walk in the snow today and trying to get back in the creative groove! Had fun taking pix with my new camera and playing with the controls.

Wooohooo! nearly three weeks of creating!!

What I posted above in Mr. Linky is a haiga collage I did for this week! It was a wonderful experience! I’m having much more fun doing collages as it’s been years!

Hi Leah! I’ve been drawing chaotic doodles, practicing calligraphy, and painting on canvas (what fun!) http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/eating-tangerines.html.

Am busy machine-quilting a Star quilt, again it’s always serendipity with my creative output and your themes, Leah!

Also, included in this post two stunning sunset photos: have vowed to try and capture more of this cosmic beauty around me, this year.

Hugs, gratitude, and happy creating, everyone!
