Creative Every Day Check-In: March 14 – 20

March 14th, 2011

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: Read all the details and sign up for the  2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 3/14/10 - 3/20/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag  #CED2011 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for March is Nest. You can read more about the theme and some ideas to get you started here.

Happy Creating!

Dropping by to wish you a wonderfully creative week Leah. I know many with children will be enjoying March Break. Hope you manage fun activities, togetherness, as well as some rest and revitalization.
Stay inspired!

Hi Leah, Thanks for dropping by last week on my blog :-)
Wish you and all of you much fun and creativity this week. It’s almost springtime, YEAH!

Is there such a thing as anti-nesting? Because that’s what I think we’re doing. Getting ready to dismantle our life and move back to the US from Italy. :) It’s been interesting to observe my reactions to the this month’s theme.

This week I wrote about writing as a spiritual practice, and the sacred act of storytelling among women across generations. I wish everyone a great week!

Was a busy week last week & so exhaustion has slowed my productivity somewhat. But I’ve posted a little fiction writing on the theme of black, white & pink and an image I created.

Wishing you all a happy creative week!

Kat X

So happy spring is on its way.

[...] (don’t forget to visit all the other Creative Every Day peeps, there is some great art in the making out there [...]

It’s been a while since I posted much. it seems like I needed a little break, but I’m happy to be back and I even have a project going that’s on the theme of nesting! I’m excited to wander around and see what everyone else is working on.

Here is my sketch for Sunday, its a good start for the week,

Just finished creating a little spring themed notebook for a gift :) Also did some Easter/spring decorating around the house this week. Sure feels good to be actively creative again!

Have been on a quilting kick the past few weeks and just signed up for 21 Secrets art journaling workshop to re-energize myself and celebrate the coming of spring.

I made a crocheted shrug that fits my daughter and me, in different ways. When I took the pic of her modeling, my sister pointed out the resemblance of her to me at that age. I posted a pic on my blog to compare. Go there, and tell me what you think.

Nesting. I think that I am a secret nester. I think it’s a secret only to myself. But if you would walk into my home, you would probably think “…ah this is a nester, an arty nester, but she certainly, positively loves her home roost”. And if you’d walk into my office you’d see a godzillion little piles of nesting material!

i’ve been doing a whole bunch of different creative things.

Thanks so much for hosting.

I added a few new photographs to my daily project page this week. I’m struggling a bit with what being creative really means to me. In order to really embrace the Creative Every Day idea, I need a broader definition. In part it’s letting go of the need to have something to show for what I do, and just enjoying the creative process instead.

Thanks for hosting this challenge!

I’ve just completed a one-week exploration of rubber stamps intersecting with Zentangle and a weekly challenge given by “I Am The Diva – CZT” (aka Laura Harms). I’m debating whether to explore this challenge further this week or do the next on my wish list….

I am wondering what it is you LOVE to create when you don’t feel like doing anything else? What is the things that you all fall back on time & time again? Leah, is it your dreamy looking girls? Thought it would be fun to know. I guess anyone who is familiar with my work, would know what I LOVE to paint…..=) xo

Just found your blog and I have joined in the challenge. I actually started my own personal challenge 2 weeks ago to be creative everyday. I am still very novice in my creative/artistic endeavours but I am totally enjoying the process of playing and experimenting. Thanks for creating this space for us all to share.

Yay! I’m so happy to have found you and am excited to join in the creative every day journey. Can’t wait to see where it leads :)

It’s amazing to write about this month’s theme (”Nest”) with it subconsciously in the back of my mind, but somehow with all the short form poetry I’ve written today, that theme (with my not realizing it until after the fact) came out while bird-watching from my bedroom.

Thanks for this wonderful theme! :)

I’ve been doing nesting in ‘real life’ (my flat’s being redecorated) but only seem to want to paint angels…

Just posted a Venice painting that I think is finished, but not 100% sure. I wish paintings would tell me when they’re done.

Yet another perfect nesting opportunity. The Ravens are everywhere. And I love it!

Nesting has meant restin’-in-the-nest for me this past week. Being at ease and allowing myself to enjoy the comforts of my home.

Deep connections to the heart of the Mother.

I’ve been dealing with a wicked stiff neck for days, so to relax I did an experiment with using foam packaging to create art journal backgrounds… there’s even a little video. http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/foam-print-backgrounds.html

so glad i foud this. i think i am always nesting. making my house a home… for sure!

I made nut truffles from Goddess Leonie’s recipe! Yummy and really easy :)

Lots of sewing. Two Neo-Victorian costumes, then a photo shoot, and then playing with it to make the final product.
There is something great when one creation leads to another, then another and you are off down a new path of creation.
