Creative Every Day Check-In: March 7 – 13
March 7th, 2011
This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.
Join in the Challenge: Read all the details and sign up for the 2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!
Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 3/7/10 - 3/13/10.
The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.
You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2011 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!
Theme: The (totally optional) theme for March is Nest. You can read more about the theme and some ideas to get you started here.
Happy Creating!

Not a lot of visual art happening — but lots of writing . . .
Hoping to have time to work in the art studio soon!

I love this outlet – to be Creative Every Day. It keeps me on my toes. It gives me courage. Thank you.

Looking forward to a very creative week this week. Maybe it’s the sunshine, but I’m feeling extra motivated. Hope others are feeling it, too!

Because of an annoying health issue, writing was the last thing I wanted to do this week – but I decided to write about it in this week’s blog entry.

Interesting observation this morning regarding the power of suggestion? serendipity? I have been journaling about how creAtive order begins in the closet realizing how {self} sabotage is so closely tied with our “nests” {living quarters}.

I am off to a good start this week. I am having some good, creative ideas for the conceptual piece that I need to do for my sculpture class this week. It is hard thinking outside the box and trying something new, but it can also be fun and interesting once you commit to it! I will check back in once I get my own CED update post up on my blog this week!

I’m feeling as though I haven’t done (or posted) much art lately, partly due to the window remodeling project happening in our nest. We’re installing double-panes, staining them ourselves and refinishing the frames. It’s been quite the project! BUT here are two journal pages if you’ve got the time to take a look : )

I think I posted my comment on the wrong page. . . oops. Check out my “Envelope Project” tab on my blog to see the daily envelope drawing that I do. Each day I draw on the back of an envelope and then mail a letter/note to a recipient. Each envelope is numbered and I almost wish I had mailed each of them to myself, but I’m spreading the love!! If you’d like to receive a hand drawn design and note, let me know.

I’m having an ‘is it finished or not?’ crisis! I wanted it to be simple but it feels unfinished. I am asking for input if you feel moved to give it!

Oops, that was the wrong link!

This week I used my creative eye to take some photographs. I added them to my blog’s monthly photo inspiration post – http://fionajphillips.blogspot.com/2011/03/photo-inspiration-for-march.html

[...] Nests: The Creative Every Day challenge or theme for March is simply the word ‘Nest’. [...]

New post up for this week. More jewelry. Yum. I am having fun with many creative modes. Jewelry, writing, photography. And dusting off the paints and easel too. Can’t wait to dive in there.

In a time where inspiration has been few and far between, this is the kick-start I need. I’ve always wanted my writing to take me somewhere, but the only way that will happen is if I keep writing! Thanks for giving me a challenge.

I’m feeling the nest movement in my weekly intention: claiming ground. I took a photo of something nest like on a hike with my kids the other day – perhaps I’ll blog it later in the week, Leah!

I did a trade with a wonderful artist who just got engaged….her only request was a pink house…
This got me to thinking about what makes a home, what is done there that makes it so special….and the honor of having people there to share it with you!
Glad to be back here participating! Thank you so much for the inspiration

I’m so glad I stumbled across this great group! I participated in the Fun-a-Day project in January, and was hoping to keep up the momentum from that, but have been struggling a little. Thanks for providing a new challenge!

Over on my blog I’ve been reflecting on creating without expectations.
Busy but good week ahead but hope to get to visit.

This is a really great idea; each week’s links are a wonderful treat to explore…

Feeling blah and sick lately, but I’m still committed to creating and drawing daily. Thankfully, creating doesn’t have to be making a perfect piece of art, just a quickie, wonky drawing stirs some creativity…..

I love the metaphor of nest, nesting, family. Spring is all around us (thankfully) with daylight saving the garden will cut into the painting time!

Drawing faces is something I find extremely difficult; I know I have to practice to get comfortable. So I drew 94 teeny tiny faces in my moleskine! http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/94-faces.html.

Found my nest! Nestling down into the Earth. 5 new posts since last week. Loving this dive into the creative well.

I haven’t really been writing, as with Passion, Nest and Nesting are ACTION words. I am purging, clearing energy space, reconstructing! I have almost entirely redone my bedroom. Cut my hair and wrote and added a few poems to my blog. Hope everyone else is feeling equally productive!

Cleaning up my nest a little with completing a journal. In my link I posted my last five pages. I love completing journals, there is a real sense of accomplishment.

I must admit that I have not had time to create for myself everyday, but in a way I have been creating for others. To see what I mean check out my current post.

Good Sunday! I am luxuriating in a recreated room! It’s most excellent! I did mark the post that I linked here as private. I was so excited about my nesting that I hadn’t thought that I didn’t wish to invite anyone else’s energy into my space by providing an image focus. Silly me! Perhaps later this week when the lighting is right, I can take images that are of the lovely bits that I added to the space instead.
Today’s post is another response to One Shoot Sunday and Picture Prompt Challenge and is called On The Way.

Another week of creativity.
I have been busy working on painting, they take a while to grow. I decided to take up a challenge of one photo a day, but I am choosing to use my cell phone camera to keep it as a playful exercise, not one that I turn into a burden.
