Creative Every Day Check-In: August 1 – 7

August 1st, 2011

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: Read all the details and sign up for the  2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 8/1//11 - 8/7/11.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag  #CED2011 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for August is Red, which you can read more about and get ideas for here.

Happy Creating!

If one says 'Red' – the name of color – and there are fifty people listening, it can be expected that there will be fifty reds in their minds. And one can be sure that all these reds will be very different. -- Josef Albers

I really leaped right into the red theme wholesouledly. It usually is NOT my favorite color soooo naturally these associations are awesome as I must be reaching for something… as of now unknown to me.

Thank you, Leah, for the challenge and the theme and thank you, participants for reading and commenting!

This week’s post is a reflection on the transformational power of music. Where would we be without it?

And – having quite forgotten that today is the first day of August – I was all excited to be able to check-in with July’s color ‘blue’. Well – here it is anyway. Not red…but an awful lot of endless blue:

Good Morning ~ checking in and wish you a creative and fun week with that brand new baby ~ She is a doll ~ namaste, Carol ^_^

Another month, another week ~ this site and two other art site have been very instrumental in me getting back to creating and having that as my main focus ~ Thank you ~ Carol McKenna ( A Creative Harbor and Share the Creative Journey ~ ^_^ Have a great week!

PS ~ have your button on both blogs!

Happy August! For once I am with the theme. Hope to see more photos of your beautiful daughter, Leah.

Synchronicity is certainly in place. Before I even knew the theme of Red for this month, I had already created my post for today. It’s red! Cool!

RED! Hummmm I will have to think about this one for awhile. I am still finishing up BLUE. My STUDY of BLUE solo exhibition was extended from last Thursday until tomorrow. I only have seven paintings still available out of fifteen. It has been an exhilarating blue time. Now for red… hum. Best of the week Leah and all!

I posted a link to my recent mixed-media painting entitled “Red Hill.”

Thanks!

That’s amazing: my latest interest and art-form is birdwatching and bird photography. And the first bird pictured has a bright-red beak. Serendipity once again.
Hugs, and love Red Bear, Leah.

So its to be red this month, I may just have to do something with the theme. I find red fun and challenging to work with.

I was more in the line of sunset reds/oranges….

Red? Did you say Red? You are speaking my language…. Terah

This time I actually got around to posting. I haven’t been good at doing that since I joined. My contribution is a simple photo of the rail road while on my way home.

A little red here and there in what I have been playing with this week.
The garden is showing a little red as well with dahlias coming into bloom.

Thank you, Leah for having this site. I’ve posted two journal pages from two very different days. I look forward to the next challenge!

Happy August everyone. I love Red so this is a theme I can embrace. I think I’ll have to post a few of my red undertakings from the past until I can create some new ones!

I love that this challenge pushes me to do art everyday & I get to see so much work by other talented artists!

I took many days to create this first strip of five for a prayer shawl. It was worth it to me to unravel the piece at least three times to get it right.

I’ve come to red rather later in my life. Nowadays I embrace it! I have red living room walls, red clothing, a red ipad cover, red phone case. Lots of days when I put my foot in my mouth I get a red face too! LOL Red Is Good. :o )

Well, this is my first submission to the Creative Every Day challenge so im a bit nervous. I did two miniature paintings on canvas in tangent with another challenge which was to get out of your sketchbook and onto canvas so hope you dont mind… Here they are anyway

Hope im submitting them correctly. I tried using the widget but it said my link was too long (?)
