Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 1

November 1st, 2011

aedmlogored

Welcome! Today is the 1st day of Art Every Day Month! I'm so glad you're taking the leap and joining us for a month of creating. I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, last year for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2011 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2011 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

Thanks for orchestrating the challenge again this year. I am looking forward to the opportunity to swap ideas. I know that you must be busy with your adorable little one and I appreciate all that you do!

Hi Friends :) I’m glad to be back again this year. For the last 3 or 4 Novembers I’ve participated in Art Every Day Month and have soooo very much enjoyed it. I can’t tell you how many project and ideas were launched from my focus on art during the month long challenge which manifested throughout the year.

I just got up so haven’t started anything just yet but I plan on working on lots of mini pieces getting ready for a show. woot woot. Did I tell you that I finally quit my day job? October 1st was my first day as being a “full time artists” :)

For those of you interested, I am giving away a class tuition to my re-launch of “Fearless Faux Encaustic” class. Stop by between now and Nov. 3rd to enter by leaving a comment!

What a wonderful way to share our daily creations! Looking forward to participating this year.

I’ve been toying with the idea of AEDM for quite a few years but I am so excited that I’m ready to jump in this year! I can’t wait to share and see what others are doing!

I will be posting a picture of my AEDM work every day at the end of my “regular” post. This is a great challenge, and I appreciate you hosting this! Thank you.

I’m so happy that its this time of year again. I’m so very busy with work and family, but this is great to add to the excitement of life. I’m working on zentangles. I’ll post them soon. Have fun everyone. Happy Creating!

I’m excited about AEDM. I really want to be consistent in my creativity. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s art.

Don’t know if I’ll make the DAILY challenge — but I’m sure going to try. My latest post is of some art I did from my hospital bed. Now our family is on our traditional end of October visit to a water park, so while they’re all in the water, I’m hoping to at least get a little doodle done for the day ;)

I´m ready to play! Yay! :) My 6th AEDM. Let´s see where it takes me this time around.

So excited for this month’s creativity. So different to have a plan although I am open to the variety of places this project will take me. Grateful, as always, for the support.

Love, Love, Love to each and all!

Woohoo, we’re off :)

Thanks for organising this – hope I can keep up ;)

I SO need this! Thank you. I’ve just painted three small watercolors this am. I will be posting them a bit later.

I turn 30 this month so this is a must for my creative spirit!

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I did this for the first time. Here’s to another fun month of November!

I’ve been in a sort of “hold” pattern as far as expressing my creativity goes lately, so this is just the kick in the pants…i mean, supportive environment i need to get my mind, heart & hands back into the creative space i long to be! Looking forward to an exciting & challenging month!

This is my first year and I am determined to do the whole 30 days

My first AEDM, I’m so excited!! I can’t wait to see everyone’s creations for day 1 – thanks so much for hosting this great project :) xx

My art is my story. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for letting me participate. Thanks for putting this together.

Another AEDM–I’m so excited to be jumping in again! Thanks for all the work you put into organizing this Leah!

Excited – yay! Happy creating to everyone.

I am so very excited for this. I need a commitment to not only create each day, but most importantly, to document it and share it online. This is the perfect way to build that habit. So happy to be doing this… my first year and I’m sure, not my last. Good morning to everyone and lets go full speed ahead! I’ll be posting my art for the day this evening.
HuGGs to All!

I just signed up. Thank you for the inspiration!

Well, I decided I definitely wasn’t going to do it, and next thing I knew I’d signed up, so I guess I AM doing it! Looking forward to sharing work and being inspired by others’. Happy November to you. :)

Wiiihaaa! We took off! So excited!

I will use the wave of creative energy of AEDM to start writing for my new blog, Soul&Spice. A post a day, keeps the doctor away :-)

I cannot imagine a better way to start than under this explosion of creative sparkles that AEDM is! Thank you, Leah!!

Love!

Yay I made it! I wasn’t sure I could manage anything because I’ve been struggling health wise. But I did and I am happy with my little creations.

Happy AEDM everyone!!:-))

So good to start my 2nd AEDM. I am going to dedicate this month to recovery of health in my art and creativity.

So excited to be a part of this community – to challenge myself and to share with others. Looking forward to checking out the links tonight!

Great incentive to keep my creating every day going!

Happy Start to AEDM!

I am starting off AEDM with a painting of 2 little girls in a boat. Something fun and whimsical.

Yay! Excited to see so many posts here already. Love connecting with other artists during AEDM.

so excited to get started! I’m moving cross-country this week and next, and I’m counting on creativity to keep me sane. So I’ll be art-ing & blogging & AEDMing from the road. Thanks Leah for hosting again this year!

Great to be here amongst so many talented, creative and courageous people! So appreciate the support!

Day 1 down! I’m working my way through the “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” book & workbook for my AEDM project. Today’s pre-draw self portrait was…interesting- lol! Glad I signed up though & excited to see where the month takes me. Good luck to everyone!

Today, 11-1-11, my new blog and website is live.
I’ve been blogging for a year now. woohoo Terah

November already!? I worked on an art journal page in my exacompta journal: http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/an-art-journal-page-about-frumpiness.html.

Thanks for hosting this! i sure do need this to keep me focused on creativity. Thanks! my first post is here: http://wethree3.blogspot.com/2011/11/art-every-day-month-2011-november.html
And of course it has to do with Halloween:) Looking forward to a wonderful November. Very glad to see that this will be on flickr too!

Okay, off we go! This month will surely be an adventure! There’s no way I can finish art and visit everyone’s blogs, but I’ll try to see a few each day – wish there was more time in a day!

[...] Leah Piken Kolidas runs Art Every Day Month (or AEDM as we fondly call it). It is based on the idea that everyone should do something creative every day in November, which will help form the habit of daily creativity. Here’s the direct link to the check-in post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2011/11/art-every-day-month-check-in-day-1.html. [...]

This is my first challenge in a LONG time. I started with a simple magazine collage. I’ll probably do a lot of these since they are so easy and quick but they still keep me connected creatively.

Thank you for getting me going…I am also trying to take part in a 30 picture book ideas in 30 days. Plus going to work. This maybe folly! At least creative :)

Day 1 done! Hooray!

Actually posted my day one yesterday, but forgot to come here and add my post to the list. This is my first year to participate. This is going to be fun!

OK, only figured out how to do this properly now. So just posted yesterday’s piece for day 1. I suppose better late than never.

Catching up from yesterday…sorry for arriving late! Looking forward to the linkup! Thanks and LOVE your WIP!

Thank you for hosting this challenge. I’m really enjoying it so far. I was surprised that so many of my friends thought that it would take up extra time, but I believe that creativity is so engrained in our daily lives and I’m using this challenge to help me to further realize that, especially on bleaker days when I need the affirmation.

I will be posting periodic updates in my online journal. When not posting there, I plan to snap daily photos to put on flickr.

Diving in. I look forward to this challenge each year. It comes at the time when I need a little push to keep going.

Day 2 – This is my exploration of a landscape scene I am working on, through a series of preliminary drawings.
What a great way to encourage creativity!

Well, I forgot to link up here with day one even though I did post..so here’s day two! This is my first attempt at this so I’m looking forward to doing this everyday. Thanks for making it possible!
Susan

Playing catch-up, but so glad to be here! Feels great.

Really enjoying everyone’s creativity here!

I remember finding this challenge a few months ago. I am glad I can participate this time around.
