Art Every Day Month Check-In: Day 7

November 7th, 2011

Today is day 7 of Art Every Day Month! Can you believe it's been a week already? You're doing fabulously! Keep on creating!

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. (If you're receiving this post via email, you'll have to click through the blog to see the widget.) If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, last year for day one I linked to my first post: instead of my main blog page: This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2011 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2011 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

I’ve only done three and realized this is going to be quite a challenge! The most I have challenged myself to do ever! Loving it though! :)

Thanks for all the support and encouragement you give us, Leah. You’ve created a wonderful community here!

I am sharing the results of week 1 with everyone, so I would really appreciate it if you could visit my page and comment on the results of week 1. :-)

Happy Monday everyone!!!

When I try to leave a comment for Donnna Peach, my computer won’t let me. If you see this Donna contact me at and we can arrange another way for me to leave comments for you.

This week’s post is about vulnerable and courage, walking towards my dream as a writer, and a special request from you.

Wow! It really has been a week of AEDM! It has really been a challenge (some days) to keep this going but I’m so glad that I have. Thanks Leah for the all the support and encouragement!

[...] morning!  to all of you visiting from AEDM welcome to Mandala Monday and for those of you who visit here on Mondays regular, Welcome back!! [...]

Thanks again for the incentive to make art. I haven’t been able to get around to other blogs yet in trying to catch up, but I will. I love to make new art friends!

Thanks again! Lori at LeissnerArt

A picture of my AEDM project is at the end of my regular post. This week, I’m playing around with yarn vases.

My 7 Nov piece Inspired by Hundertwasser is up on my flickr page. I had a lot of fun doing this – I need to go larger than 8 x 6 though for a bit more fun.

Thanks for a great linkup! Inspired today by my new job…off on an “art-venture”

Good Morning, I have signed up both blogs ~ Wondering if you can help support my second blog by signing up for my Magical Monday blog hop? ~ Thanks, Carol (A Creative Harbor and Share the Creative Journey) ~ am sure you get lots of requests but had to ask ~ namaste ^_^

Leah – thank you for the encouragement. I am having such a great time creating.

Wowser, I’ve done drawing or painting every day for a week! Not all publishable, but this morning I started and (I think) finished a painting ~ it just fell out of me. Happy happy :)

Did my first day yesterday. I was in the studio all afternoon. It was such a relief after a month away from my art. Thank you for the inspiration!

It’s been a busy week and AEDM has pulled me out of a creative hibernation – thank you! I realized, as I share in today’s post, that what I’ve been creating these first seven days has messages meant for ME…it’s like I’m sending little notes to myself through my art.

Some circles and two frame type pages in the sketchbook from days 4, 5, & 6.

I am new here…but what a wonderful place !!!!

I managed to do something almost every day since I joined last Thursday, although I had to give Friday a miss. Such a great challenge, I’m enyoing it so much already!

I haven’t kept up, but this is definitely pushing me to do more. Thank you for doing this!

I love the inspiration I get from this challenge each year.
Things have taken a turn from what I thought I wanted to be doing, But I am loving the fun with hats and hat stands that I have been doing.
As always, Thank you Leah for doing this.

THis is fun! I just started yesterday for the first time ever, so not sure I am doing everything correctly…. but thank you to the two that left a comment on my blog! That was exciting! I will do my best to get around to others blogs, too, to leave comments. :) What a cool idea!

Well, Hello Up There – painting of a girl looking up in a tree at a bird is on my blog today.

I feel like a chicken without a head… and my post today will show you a bit of the why behind that!

I played with some digital painting today, and had fun.

Leah, Thank you for bringing us all together for this challenge each year. Today, practicing crochet… even though I’m having trouble learning crochet at least the yarn is photogenic.

Another creative day behind me! I worked on my Owl painting today. As I was working on the painting I found myself calling my little owl “Owlivia” kind of subconsciously. Then when I mentioned it to my husband, he asked me why I named my owl after our new granddaughter Olivia. Totally unaware. My roots are gray, not blond… but go figure! I am loving this boost to my creativity and I’m so happy to have this avenue to share myself and my creative endeavors!

A quick doodle will have to do :) Quite tired.
Thank you.

slow and steady

Photowhirled my way through the Pennsylvania countryside today!

I didn’t finish my drawing but I’m very happy with what I was able to do.

Took a “trip” back to Pern today to do this sketchbook spread….

Very creative weekend…trying a spoonflower tea towel design. It was a real learning curve! I would love to hear some feedback. I feel like I’m trying to find the right direction. Thanks :)

Little late getting into tonight but here I am !!! Tomorrow I will have more time:)

Sorry gang, I keep making this mistake. NOW my name below will link to the correct day 7 art:)

I was very hesitant about posting this, I don’t like it. You can go to my blog and read why. I’m planning on a more satisfying experience tomorrow … please read my blog and by all means follow me on my journey down this creative process and see what develops along the way! ;)

I work in an off-the-shelf, prompted art journal book with my son who has the ‘boys’ version of the same book. I work very fast and don’t worry about how perfect or artistic (with a capital A) it is. These pages are such fun. I was not going to post this particular creative endeavor, but thought — why not?
