Creative Every Day Check-In: January 30th – February 5th

January 30th, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/30/12 - 2/5/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is New, which you can read more about and get ideas for here. February's (totally optional) theme is Night, which you can read more about here.

Happy Creating!

Night sounds like a great theme for February. Happy creating, everyone!

I haven’t done CED in years! Good to be back!

Well, following on from the NEW theme, I’ve redone my blog header lol

Night is an interesting theme… I might see what I can come up with for that, seeing as that’s when I do most of my creating lol

I have been busy with visual journaling {collage and photography} — but blogging very little about it. And I am hoping that will begin to change as I incorporate {new} techniques and daily schedules during the month of February … which I am sure will leave me in a bit of proverbial dark.

But during the last several months I have realized that there are gifts in the dark places. Thus, I will value the opportunities of the unknown {dark shadows}. At least that is the plan! ;)

I think I will be buying a tripod and taking lots of night photos next month!

Night sounds like a wonderful challenge. Can’t wait!

This week’s post I talk about recovering the experience of dreaming and creativity, so accessible to us as children, and begin to think about how I can create my life from that place.

Also love the Night theme!

Yet another NEW journal.

I can’t wait to start a dark/night piece. I love the theme! Will be sure to share it when I’m done. Meanwhile, I’ve posted a new healing mandala on my blog.

I’ve opened up my Process Art Journal to guest posts. Please visit my blog for details.

I’ve now done process art every day since January 1 — pretty amazing since I could hardly find time for it at all last year. What a difference a strong intention makes!

I did a demo of using oil pastel and watercolor of an owl for an art class I was teaching last Friday that will fit the “night” theme, Once I finish it, I’ll put up the image on my blog, along with some of the other artwork I am working on.

My Sketchbook Project is complete. Who knew it would be so heart-wrenching.

I’ve been working on a lot of word art and really loving it. I’ve started a valentine collage, but am NOT loving it. Humph. But I’m thrilled to be using art as part of my healing process. :)

I’ve been working in my sketchbook and painting, but shared today something that I’ll be working with all year. It’s a very small project, but had a big impact on me last year, so I’m happy to work with it again for 2012. Looking forward to stopping in and seeing what some of the rest of you are up to! :>

I have been experimenting with many techniques. Everyday is a new adventure in creativity.

Back after small hiatus being sidetracked by life and travel plans… this one’s a work in progress.

I’m looking forward to creating something representing night.

I’ve had two painting classes so far and what’s interesting is that I believe it’s having a positive effect on my writing even though that’s a completely different art form. My painting is green and orange and I keep having green and orange dreams.

More wishing for spring, but the greenhouse is taking shape so growing will start soon :)

I’ve nearly appreciated an experiment (for me) in watercolor and pastel. Stop by and take a look if you have the time, and give me your advice.

Love the theme!

No time yesterday to say hello! It is the start of a new week and I have already created some new miniature collages. I have been having fun with materials! Have a great week everyone.

I am not sure I am ready for the theme “night” just yet but early evening and dawn are definitely working themselves up on my canvases at the moment. Just posted about – Painting the desperation of wanting to stay alive. Almost as if warding off the night I suppose. Best of the week everyone! Thank you Leah as always for holding this space for us.

One of the most inspiring thread painting artists and teachers, Ellen Anne Eddy, has a new book out. Read all about it here, and learn some of our background together.

Not finding much time to paint or draw this week, but spending some time outside taking pictures of beautiful winter. I’m looking forward to February’s theme, it sounds very intriguing!

Just added my first night illustration. I am not flowing with ideas.

my post of yesterday was about Valentine, but next week’s will be about NIGHT, for sure !

I’ve been working on Project 365 this year and am really enjoying it. I keep forgetting to share it here!

I haven’t posted for about 6 months but finally felt ready to post some of my paintings from an intuitive painting thing I did.

I love February’s theme. Very inspiring!

Hi Leah
I hope you are and your gorgeous baby are well and enjoying life too. I have entered a post today, not really art but some beautiful flowers; someone’s art, I just took the picture.
Have a great day

Good Afternoon. :) I have to say i’m very grateful to have stumbled across your blog. I’ve been going through some rough patches with friends and life, and so finding your blog that will help with inspiration with being creative was just what i needed. :) I can wait to start participating. Also, i’m taking it as a BIG sign that its meant to be. I’d just recently changed the background photo on my blog to a night scene, and then i found your challenge with the Night theme. ;) Look forward to participating and seeing everyone else’s entries. again, thank you sooooooooo much!! :)

Sincerely,
Spring

I have just started an art journal, and, started writing, a story which is telling itself, also, some micro fiction. The creative side of me enjoys it very much, while, laziness does try to keep me away! I will post more, I promise, and hope to visit more blogs. Thank you,
Za faran

I was challenged this week to do something I had not done before. So I made paper doll mermaids. I hope you like them.

really loving the “night” theme!

Pictures of small creative things of the week! Circumstances zapping my creativity a bit and feel as if need to come out of my comfort zone too.

this is going to be fun!! I can’t wait to see all the creative things that people bring to the table with this project.
