Creative Every Day Check-In: March 19 – 25

March 19th, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 3/19/12 - 3/25/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for March is mixed-media which you can read more about here

Happy Creating!

Hello Leah, here’s hoping you and Annabelle are doing great, Spring is at our door step now, so enjoy when the sun shines and have a wonderful week!

This week’s post is about lessons from a wonderful e-course I’m participating in. Specifically, learning from the Mother Goddess Demeter to create a space of nurturing and love.

Just had to share my latest watercolor painting that I finished.

I am really enjoying the CED Challenge. I love to see what everyone else is creating as well. Thank you for hosting this challenge and inspiring us all!

happy to be able to finally post something creative again!! thanks & peace

These are all wonderful examples of mixed media art, which is my favorite way to paint. I typically use acrylic paint as a base, along with papers to layer and create texture, and then I add ink, oil crayons, and charcoal. Finally, I finish each painting with matte acrylic sealer. You can see my most recent mixed media painting here. http://amusingmuses2.blogspot.com.

Happy Spring!

I shared my photographic capture of some real Love Birds!

This week I’ll be working more on my oil paintings and starting an encaustic painting for the Small Feats show to benefit the Niagara Artists Centre here in the Niagara Region of Ontario. I’ve taken photos of my preliminary sketches and beginning of the oil paintings, so will post those within the next day or two.

Also, I am going to be starting to teach again, in a art workshop format as soon as the space is ready here. I’d really appreciate taking my workshop poll and giving me any feedback on the workshop courses I’m planning.

Thanks and have a creative week!

I’ve been having a wonderfully creative week, working in oil pastel over vine charcoal blind contour sketches. The latest post is “Warm Front Meets Cold Front,” and it is about storms.

I’m back. Had a few off weeks. Good to see everyone again. xoxox Terah

I gave myself some time to work on a mixed media piece yesterday. It’s def out of my comfort zone and I’m not sure if I like it at all but, as always I was happy to try something new! Thanks for the challenge Leah. xoxo Kristen

This week…yo-yos and paper.

Happy Monday! I posted my latest postcard for the postcard challenge so come see what Evie and Brian are up to. I also finished my large canvas last week and that is posted on my blog as well. I am so happy with how it came out and am ready to start a new one.

Spring is almost in the air, need more sunshine. Started seeds this weekend and the first flowers are coming up.Flowers are my inspiration this week.

Just have to say thanks for creating CED! I looked around my studio this week and realized how much more productive I am now compared to past years. And creating a blog and sharing my art is less scary and more fun than I thought it would be!

I was in the newsagency this week and I saw this extraordinary piece of magenta-coloured cardboard so I bought it for 25 cents. I’ve decided it will be the beginnings of first my mixed media piece. We’ll see what happens!

Did you hear about the candle who wanted to dance with the flame? Made this painting yesterday and then wrote the poem. ♥ ♥ Leave me a comment if you liked ♥ ♥

Wow! It’s so exciting to see how inspired everyone is about mixed media! It’s always been my favorite so it’s fun to see what others are doing too.

A friend of mine and I are doing our own version of Art Every Day Month, starting yesterday. So far so good. :)

Leah, your work is SO beautiful…. i absolutely LOVE LOVE the woman with the flowing hair… and what looks like people sitting on the bus (or train) – you are gifted with the mixed media art, my dear! Beautiful. THank you so much for sharing and for starting CED. xoxo

The blue cloud is shadowing over me and blocks my creativity, but I did attempt to burst through it.

Did I mention I’m returning to my Making a Mark practice? This year I’m calling it Making a Mark: Art Improv

aaah with the first flowers and the first spring sunrays my new website emerged out of the ground :-) I have spend so many days of happy writing and playing with images during these last weeks of winter!!

So proud to reveal my new creation, yippeeee!

And…drumroll….

I wanted to invite you Leah and all of you creating here to the Bodyness Blog Wave, an opportunity for women to write and create around the topic of bodyness and drop a link on the Soul&Spice website to connect!!

lots of spring love and belly-butterflies!

I’m a bit late to sign in this week because it took me a while to get going. The most creative thing I did for the first few days is find imaginative ways to procrastinate ;-) But today I worked on a new art journal and blogged about my experience.

Hope you’re all having a very happy & creative week!

I found your site via Daisy Yellow. I have to say that this is one way to keep me creating something during the year. Please feel free to have a look at my blog and let me know what you think. Leave me a comment and some feedback on my work. Hope to get a chance soon to make it around to everyone’s little corner of the internet to leave a little love!

There seem to be many artists here, so I guess I’ll be different  My creative activities involve gardening, cooking, writing and photography, so I have a (primarily) food blog. On Friday, I blogged about making Moroccan preserved lemons. Thanks for the opportunity to share.
