Creative Every Day Check-In: January 14 – 20
January 14th, 2013
This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.
Join in the Challenge: You can sign-up for the 2013 Challenge here!
Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/14/13 - 1/20/13.
The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.
You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter or Instagram you can use the hashtag #CED2013!
Theme: January's totally optional theme is Dark, which you read more about here.
Happy Creating!

I loved working with the theme of Dark this week. I think in the week to come, I will deal with the concept of sleep… I love the piece Leah did about dreams and I am taking that as inspiration… lovely. THANK YOU, Leah, for all you do!

I’m slowly working on getting back into a routine after moving house over Christmas. This is my first sign in for the year for CED…. which reminds me, I have to change the button on my blog lol
I’m doing Fat Mum Slim’s photo a day challenge this year (lets see how far I get! lol) and have made a promise to myself to ‘just make more art’ whether it be with paper and paints/pencils or crochet/textiles… I just need to make time and do it.
Thanks Leah, you’re one awesome chickadee. Creative Every Day gives me the kick up the backside I need every now and then

I’ve just completed my review page for last week:
http://sew-in-love.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/creative-every-day-ced-7-13-jan-2013.html
A very mixed bag again. If I added in all the ideas as well, it would get too long to read!!=)

I am still working with the theme of dark while editing my photos. I love the effect of dark backgrounds and patches of clarity. And the more I work with it, the more I understand the powerful effect of shadows in photography. This time I have processed a self-portrait (see here: http://myhealingmoments.blogspot.com.es/2013/01/day-36531.html ) to illustrate my word for this year: respect. It´s the last one of a challenge I started last year, 48 selfies over 12 months

Hello Leah I’ve posted a piece on candle light and darkness, I love the depth of the Winter nights, they can be quite magical!

This is actually from last week, but it took me a few tries to get it posted for display. I’m still “looking through a glass darkly” on being creative every day, but am loving the challenge.

Hi everyone! This was painted last week, but I wasn’t sure if it linked up or not…Anyways, the theme “dark” reminded me of sleeping and dreaming. Thanks for the inspiration!

I didn’t work within the theme but linked up all of my posts with the label art to this hop – I hope that’s OK. I have created quite a bit of art this month with some new supplies I got for Christmas.
Thanks for hosting

It’s interesting to me that now that I have a baby – and waaaay less time – I make more alert, and WANT to make more. It is so refreshing, and helps me be a better mama, I think.

This week…a little art journaling and a little cardmaking.

I’ve just done a blog post on the themes of love & gratitude ‘lighting’ up my mood. So then I get to this month’s theme of “dark” and I’m briefly flummoxed until your post below pointing out that the stars shine brightest in the darkest sky. And suddenly I’m thinking positive things like peace, space to dream, velvet darkness soothing and then crazy celebration fireworks cutting across the night sky. Amazing how a shift of perspective can change so much!
Wishing you all a happy and creative week!

I’m working on finishing up a bunch of paintings this week. I have two “bandit sister” paintings I am almost done with, so will be posting some “work in progress” images this week and the final images once they are complete. The “Dark” theme suits this time of year, so after I finish up other work, perhaps I’ll come up with something with this month’s theme.
Have a creative week everyone!

I painted some hearts for a fundraiser. I really like them.

I managed to get a lot done last week on knitting and quilting projects and have posted an update on my blog. I’m not really working on the Dark theme other than digging out of the pile of projects that need to get done! Actually blogging about it has been an experience for me and I hope I’ll keep up with that aspect of it as it helps me see what I accomplish!

The Dark of January brought some very bright smile to my heart. Thanks for hosting

It’s often bright during January in SoCal,but I am convinced that my Midwest upbringing has instilled a “dark” mindset for this part of the new year. The pieces I’ve created this month have been sharing the dark theme quite nicely. I’m grateful to share them with so many as my goal is to post daily. Visit me anytime!

Making mandalas….I always seem to go back to circles and spirals. Even my knitting this week was circular.

Hi! This is my first post. Some weeks it is hard to document all the results of my little spurts of creative time. Had something for nearly every day. Then had to play taxi driver mom.
can’t wait to follow all the links. But now I must make dinner!
