Day 19: She Put on her Phoenix Cape

November 19th, 2014

Today, I sat down not knowing what in the world I was going to do. I grabbed some oil pastels, put down a mark and then remembered, I'd really liked the look of orange and teal I saw somewhere the other day. That was a start. I started drawing a figure. One thing led to another and suddenly she had a firey cape. I wasn't expecting that, but there it is! I love the unexpected turns that happen while working in an intuitive way. It was fun to work with a different medium today too!

I’ve played with oil pastels, but never got the great blending that you achieved. I like the colors you used, too. They are two of my favorites. This is beautiful.

Just spent some time perusing your gallery/shop. You have such a wonderful eclectic body of work. You are multi-talented and I am always so happy that I stumbled upon CED so many years ago! I especially love your city scenes series and would love it if some day when you find yourself with “time” (I know…Mommys don’t find time often) if you would do a tutorial on how to achieve that look in City Scenes! xoxo

I like the pastel effect. You have a vibrant sense of color.

I can totally relate to the I don’t know what I’m going to do today. It’s so much fun once I get on the other side of that to see what comes out of me! I loved your description of your process for the Fiery Girl!
