Day 30: Bird in the Woods

November 30th, 2011, Comments (13)

Day 30! Woohoo! I'm proud of myself for getting through this month and I hope you all are feeling good about what you've accomplished.

I started to feel like my paintings were starting to tell a story recently. Perhaps if I put them all together, I'll be able to see what the narrative is.

Tomorrow I'll have a check-in for the Creative Every Day Challenge to carry us through til Monday, when I'll resume the regular weekly check-ins.

Congrats to all the Art Every Day Month participants. You all rock!

Welcome to day 30, the last day of Art Every Day Month! Please celebrate your successes (small and large) today! You did it!! And thanks once again for joining me on this creative adventure. It was my privilege to create alongside you this month. I hope that this month is just the beginning of many more creative adventures ahead!

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. (If you're receiving this post via email, you'll have to click through the blog to see the widget.) If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, last year for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participants page to sign-up before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Survival Guide: If you feel like you could use some more support, prompts, and motivation to keep going throughout the month, check out the Art Every Day Month Survival Guide.

Twitter: If you're on Twitter (I'm on there as @leah_art), I'll be using the hashtag #aedm2011 to mark Art Every Day Month tweets. It helps to find others who are tweeting about AEDM!

Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2011 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

November 29th, 2011, Comments (11)

So close to the end! I'm both ready for a little break and sad that it's ending! I hope you've all enjoyed this month as much as I have. I'm always amazed at how much growth can happen in the span of a month and this year was no different. Thank you to all of you wonderful creators for sharing this journey with me. It's been a joy creating alongside you!

Day 28: Rabbit Moon Onesie

November 28th, 2011, Comments (13)

This is my favorite of the onesies I've done this month! It's another freezer paper stencil based on a drawing I did earlier this year. I can't wait to put Annabelle in it! :-) I'm glad AEDM pushed me to try this out. I'd like to do more!

Day 27: Mermaid Night

November 27th, 2011, Comments (12)

Sometimes, when working intuitively, I like to crop the page to a size that suits what I end up working on, which is part of why I like working on paper. It allows for easy cropping! This piece is an example of that. I liked the way the mermaid looked in a long strip instead of the wider page that I used.

Day 26: Twin heart inkblot

November 26th, 2011, Comments (10)

In a bit of a rush today as we're traveling, but I did manage to squeeze in an inkblot. I'm liking the colors! I might play with this some more later. Maybe not!

Back home tomorrow and AEDM is nearly done! The month has flown!

I have no idea of what it's going to look like when I start a piece. Making art is like having a relationship. You want to bring in some ideas, but if you don't allow it to develop naturally and speak to you as it develops, you end up imposing and projecting upon it. ~Nick Bantock

Day 25: A onesie

November 25th, 2011, Comments (4)

I took three onesies with me to play with while out of town visiting relatives. This one I did with a freezer paper stencil and a bit of fabric paint. The "a" is for Annabelle. I decided to do a lower case "a" because an upper case "A" onesie would have reminded me too much of Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks! I accidentally dripped a little paint on the sleeve, so I turned that into a heart and then put a matching heart on the butt. :-) Happy accidents.

I'm having fun making these onesies! I'll have to think more on what I could make with freezer paper stencils.
