Creative Every Day Theme for May: Flowers

April 30th, 2013

At the end of each month I will announce the totally optional theme for the following month. For the month of May 2013, the theme will be Flowers

As always, this month's theme for the Creative Every Day Challenge is totally optional. Use it if it inspires you, continue being creative every day in your own way if it doesn't, or do something in between. You can sign up for the 2013 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime. More info can be found here and the sign-up page is here.

I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month on the blog to help keep you inspired. You can use the posts here for jumping off points or interpret the theme in your own creative way. If you need some suggestions, here are a few ideas to get you started. You could:

  • *Plants some flower seeds in your garden or in your home.
  • *Visit a greenhouse and be inspired by the color and form you see.
  • *Flatten flowers between book pages and use them in your work.
  • *Use the color of your favorite flower as inspiration in a piece.
  • *Write in a free-form style about a special moment you've had with flowers someone has given to you or not given to you.
  • *Give yourself flowers.
  • *Make a paper flower chain.

How to use the CED themes:

If you're feeling creatively stuck or blocked at any point during the month, use the theme as a source of inspiration to get you moving. Feel free to focus on the theme in your creative activities for the entire month or as much as you'd like.

Using the theme is entirely optional for CED participants. Use it if it inspires you, ignore it if it doesn't. I'll be sharing posts throughout the month around the theme (among other things) to get you thinking about how to incorporate it into your life. I'd love to hear how you use the theme in your creative world.

And have fun with it!

Hi Leah! I love the theme of flowers for this month, thank you. Nature is my favorite all time topic to draw and I just had to come and see what you created. Of course, it is intriguing, as always, and I love it!! I hope all is well in your world. xx

Love this theme. Can’t wait to start. In fact, I had been working on some flower related projects on Saturday, which I posted on my blog. This gives me incentive to continue. Thanks for the inspiration, Leah. Hope all is well.

This is an awesome theme for this time of the year! It will fit perfectly with a lot of the graphics I have planned to be designing for this month. Flowers in spring are such a wonderful way to get back to nature and the outdoors after winter is just a memory :)

Oh my… this is certainly a lovely theme and one I’ll have no problem participating in so it’s your creations I’m looking forward to seeing, as always. Thanks Leah~

I am new to this challenge, just joined on April 30. I snuck in a quick drawing for April!
Yesterday, I started with a sketch to use as my first watercolor project. Today I worked a little more on that one and then did a quick sketch of some flowers. I am enjoying this challenge! Thanks for the inspirations!
