Creative Every Day Check-In: February 6 – 12

February 6th, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 2/6/12 - 2/12/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for February is Night, which you can read more about here.

Happy Creating!

Good morning. A fresh start to a new week. Who knows what adventures in creativity lay in store for us! Last week i made some good progress on my large canvas – stop by and take a look. I’m looking forward to doing more work today. Have a great week everyone.

Hmmm…not exactly a ‘night’ image..but – hopefully a creative one – nonetheless. Have a happy week!!!

I have a lot of ideas for night, but I am not always good at getting whats in my head out.

My post shares the way my creativity has inspired my own children to be creative – especially at bedtime so that is my link to night. :)

I am loving this month’s theme!

I’m doing process art every day and blogging about it ( http://www.processartjournal.com ). If you’ve never done process art, you might be interested in checking it out. It’s all about “getting out of the way” and letting out whatever is there. It may involve seeing an image in your mind’s eye and then recreating it, or it may be about simply asking what color your hand wants to touch, what brush your hand wants to pick up, and what movement your body wants to make. It’s quite liberating! It’s a way to cultivate presence and access inner symbols that are seeking expression. It’s kind of like meditating, but you don’t have to sit still. :)

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

I’ve been able to do a little knitting. For the most part though I’ve been spending my time packing to move in a few weeks. Things will more than likely be pretty sporadic creatively while I get things settled, however I look at this move as a creative groundwork. It is going to help so much to move to a different environment so look for better things in the near future. :)

I joined this group in the begining of the new year and have yet to contribute, until today. I’ve just been getting back into blogging again so my creative process has been a bit slow! I hope to post weekly now that i’ve begun!

This poem is not about night, but it’s something that deeply hit late at night. Because it’s personal, I didn’t put it on my blog, I put it on a private Facebook group for my writing group where I live. http://www.facebook.com/groups/111992092256324/doc/120785108043689/

Hum, posted a new oil painting of Orcas in Evening on Saturday and a new photograph of mist in the morning with another to follow tomorrow but nothing yet of actual night! With a full moon greeting us tomorrow evening I shall have to give it some thought. Best of the week everyone!

Playing with the flower fairies again, see what you think?
:)

beautiful work. thank you!

I have been cooking up a storm! From cookie dough dip and blueberry ketchup with butternut squash fries, to slow cooker recipes like overnight oatmeal and lentil tacos, to asian soups with shiitake and seaweed or a vegetarian pho! I also just started my first art journal today, with a beautiful first page, and took some time to continue work on my short story. AND, I am a third way done with a new scarf pattern. I love my creative life.

I’m trying to get a bit more creative and hope to share more of my art.

A little painting and January’s Creative Color Challenge.

It helps a lot to have this weekly structure. Thanks!

I haven’t tackled the “night” theme yet, just been working on some pencil portraits while watching the telly in the evenings. On the sofa, under a warm blanket really is the only option in this freezing weather right now :)

My latest work doesn’t really fit with the night theme, but I have an owl I’ll be finishing up that does, so will put that up soon.

I’m almost finished with, Anandi’s Boots, which is done is oil pastel and watercolor. Posted the image on my blog, and would love to hear from anyone who visits. Have a creative week! :-)

Wishing everyone another wonderfully creative year!!

I am enjoying hanging around all the talent here! It’s very inspiring. Thank you Leah!

Trying out oil pastels for the first time. Need some input and tips. Is there something you put over it when done to keep it from smudging so easily? Thanks.

Thanks for allowing us a space to roam artistically and share openly

Discovering this really made my day! Just signed up and forwarded it on to three friends who plan on signing up too! So excited!

I haven’t been posting much on my blog and was on retreat most of this week. I’ve been working on faces and it is definitely a journey. It has been stretching me in new ways. Will see how the night them plays out. May tie it in with Lent.

Just heard of your challenge — what a great idea. At first I thought, no way, creative EVERY day? I’d be doomed to failure! And then I thought about the bazillion ways a person can be creative in her life, and thought about of all the things I do that are creative but which I don’t think of as creative, and yes, I think I can do this. Now excuse me while I go do a little jig and then write a ditty about it. :)

This is great, because, I get to see and read lots of new and very creative stuff. I think, Leah what you are doing is great! My blog has art, micro fiction, poetry and whatever else I feel inspired to write.
You are welcome! :)

I’ve had a little rough go of things with catching various viruses etc., but am definitely on the mend. Yesterday, I posted reflections on the climate changes we are experiencing along with art work inspired by the glaciated regions of Wisconsin near Devil’s Lake.

I’m started to write again which is perfect since I’m traveling and wandering again. I’m excited to get back to putting my words to paper or in this case to blog post. :D

I am on my own path – thinking not about the night theme, but about lines and shape and design as I prepare projects for the new classes I will teach in Spring. Today I experimented with layers – with interesting results – come check it out.

I am developing a 365 days project, it involves daily blog post which consists of text and one of my photos. This project is about many things (mainly about my journey) and it´s based on my need to be creative every day. It´s been an amazing experience, yet being creative every single day is not always easy. I´ve found this group today and I´ve joined it right now. I am sure it will help me to deal with this aim, I have the feeling that I am going to learn a lot from all the participants, and also that it is going to make me feel inspired and motivated. Thanks!

I have done it again, I do keep forgetting about the theme and just go headlong into what’s inside my head. This seems a very long month, somehow; probably got everything to do with our very cold weather.
Have a good up-coming week Leah!
