December 22nd, 2014, One Comment

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the ChallengeYou can sign-up for the 2014 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widåget below to link to a blog post(s) or flickr image of your creative activities during the days of 12/22/14 - 12/29/14.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments. There is sometimes a slight delay in your link/image showing up in the Mr. Linky widget, so if you don't see it immediately, check back in a little bit.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter or Instagram you can use the hashtag #CED2014!

Theme: December's totally optional theme is Festive!

Happy Creating!

Creative Every Day 2015!

December 16th, 2014, One Comment

The New Year is fast approaching and with it a new opportunity to commit to a year of creativity with the year long Creative Every Day Challenge! As always, my challenges are low pressure and inclusive of all forms of creativity from painting to cooking,  crafting, photography, art journaling, jewelry making, knitting, fashion, dance, and games with your children. Really, anything goes. Creativity begets creativity. You can find it everywhere when you start looking, so let's make this year a great one filled with wonderfully creative moments.

You can sign up here and read more about the challenge here

I'm also looking for more monthly theme ideas! Please give me some ideas in the comments. If I use your idea, I will give you credit and link to your blog if you have one! The themes are always optional, but a fun way to frame the month when you need a little extra inspiration.

2015 Creative Every Day Sign Up Page

December 15th, 2014, 5 Comments

Welcome to the 2015 Creative Every Day Challenge's participant and sign-up page. Before signing up, please read more about the challenge and how to get involved on the information page, here.

How to sign up:

If you have a blog or Flickr page: Use the sign-up below (just once!) to make your commitment to the Creative Every Day Challenge. You'll put your name or blog name in the "Your name" box and the url of your blog or Flickr page in the "Your url" box. (For example: If I were signing up, I'd put "Creative Every Day" in the "Your name" box and "http://www.CreativeEveryDay.com" in the "Your url" box, then I'd click the "Enter" button. Ignore the bit about leaving a comment on this page.

Please do not put a store, or etsy shop in the url box. For this challenge I only want to link to places where participants are going to be sharing the work they create during the year. I will be checking the list regularly and will remove any duplicate links or links that do not go to blogs or Flickr pages.

If you do not have a blog or Flickr page: You can still join in! Simply email me your name (first and last name or first name and last initial) and I will add you to a separate list below. You can email me by hitting the contact button above (or at leah at bluetreeartgallery dot com.)

Once you've signed up, be sure to grab a badge to put on your blog (there's more info about how to post it on your blog here) and read about the different ways to participate here. Thanks for joining in!

After you've signed up, the Mr. Linky widget (below) will ask you to leave a comment. It does this automatically, but there isn't a comment form on this page, so after you sign up, feel free to come say hello on the latest check-in on my main blog!

Participants without a blog: (email me to be added to this list.)

Day 30: Fox Dreams III

November 30th, 2014, No Comments

Another year of AEDM complete!! Congrats to all the participants and a huge thank you for joining in and sharing your work. It inspires me greatly! I'm especially happy I got through this year's challenge with baby Alex here. Small pieces in small pockets of time worked well. And the late nights ended up providing lots of inspiration!

Art Every Day Month Day 30

November 30th, 2014, 7 Comments

aedmlogored

Today is the 30th day of Art Every Day Month! Congratulations!!! Whether you did all 30 days or 5, you added more creativity into your life and that's something to celebrate! Keep on creating!

I usually post my art at the end of the day, but every morning there will be a check-in post like this one, where you can share your work whenever you're ready to do so.

The box below is a widget that I provide each day as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to that day's creation. If you don't have something to share today, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from today's post and the links on the participant page for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group. Feel free to share your work there too!

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, in a past AEDM, for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to share what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Simply use the latest one of these posts to share a link to your creation. For some, it's too much to keep up with posting every day, but don't let that get you down. Do it if you can and if you can't, just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then visit the participant sign up page before you use the link widget to share your creations. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2014 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. A Facebook group has been created this year as yet another place to share.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use any of the daily Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave your weekly link.

Creative Every Day Theme for December 2014: Festive

November 29th, 2014, No Comments

At the end of each month I will announce the totally optional theme for the following month. For the month of December 2014, the theme will be Festive. I was thinking of the upcoming holidays, time spent with family, preparing gifts, foods, and decorations.

As always, this month's theme for the Creative Every Day Challenge is totally optional. Use it if it inspires you, continue being creative every day in your own way if it doesn't, or do something in between. You can sign up for the 2014 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime. More info can be found here and the sign-up page is here.

I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month on the blog to help keep you inspired. You can use the posts here for jumping off points or interpret the theme in your own creative way. If you need some suggestions, here are a few ideas to get you started. You could:

  • *Decorate your home for the holidays
  • *Prepare festive foods and drinks you usually prepare this time of year or try something new
  • *Work with the colors of the season.
  • *Take a walk in your area and take photographs of the small moments of festivities around you. Twinkle lights, winter berries, wreaths and trees.
  • *Sing songs with your family.
  • *Write about a treasured holiday moment.

How to use the CED themes:

If you're feeling creatively stuck or blocked at any point during the month, use the theme as a source of inspiration to get you moving. Feel free to focus on the theme in your creative activities for the entire month or as much as you'd like.

Using the theme is entirely optional for CED participants. Use it if it inspires you, ignore it if it doesn't. I'll be sharing posts throughout the month around the theme (among other things) to get you thinking about how to incorporate it into your life. I'd love to hear how you use the theme in your creative world.

And have fun with it!

Day 29: Late Night

Continuing with my night theme, another image of late nights with baby. I can't believe the month is almost over!!
