CED Challenge Check-In: May 18 – May 24

May 18th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day Challenge participants!

This weekly post is a place for CED participants to share their creative activities.

Ways to share: Leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 5/18/09 - 5/24/09.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.)

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

Join in the Challenge: To find out more about the Creative Every Day Challenge check out the details here.

If you want to sign up to be a part of the challenge, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know. When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required to participate!) Please email or comment to let me know you're participating before you start posting links in the comments or on the "Mr. Linky" widget.

UPDATE: There may be a technical issue with the Mr. Linky widget today (they're having server trouble and doing some behind the scenes repairs), so if you don't see the widget, please leave your link in the comments. Thanks!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for May is nature. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the theme here.

Happy Creating!!

I want to be light and frolicsome.
I want to be improbably beautiful and afraid of nothing,
as though I had wings.

I have been enjoying the theme for May – more in terms of photography than in painting or drawing. These birds were the perfect chance to observe nature up close.

Thank you for doing this challenge. It reminds me to do something everyday, even if it is just giving myself a refresher course on how to draw hands or organizing a drawer.

whoops – i’m a goof. i posted a comment elsewhere when it should have been here. my post is not “about” nature, but since clay comes from the earth, i guess it could be considered my nature post. plus i am now going for a walk in the beautiful spring air.
have a great, creative day.
cheers

I have been inspired all month by nature. Spring has sprung officially here in the tree house and appreciate the ongoing creative challenge by CED! I agree with Beverley–my camera has been in hyper-mode!

Thanks for providing us an outlet to post, share and grow as creative souls.

Thank you so much for all your help, Leah!

A little bit of poetry and finally another installment in my orient express blogventure. No art yet, but I’m working on it.

I’ve been in the background for a few weeks, but steadily plugging away, even with yet another cold virus running through the house this week. I have managed to pick up the camera, sing and create. This site helps me remember, every day, to put something in. And plenty comes back. Thanks so much, Leah.

I’ve got a couple of irons in the fire this week, first and foremost-I am excited to announce that I will be offering my first workshop over at Creative Workshops, “Fun with Faux Encaustics”. For a blurb, scroll down the page to see my class offering and then on the left you can sign up:

Also a couple of blog posts this week highlighting the class and then my playing with photoshop (love doing this now!).

Have a great week, Lia and all!

Leah, Thank you for being a steadfast encourager to create every week. It helps.

Hi Leah! Long time no post! I’ve been so busy with school, but somehow managed to keep on being creative every day!! :) I’ve been writing lots of poetry, especially haiku on the theme of nature. And what do you know! I just found out right now that THAT IS our theme for this month!! Haha! I’m so glad things worked out well. :)

The link I left is a journal entry that describes a collaboration between myself and a fabulous artist! There are also some sample links I’ve posted. Please enjoy! :)

I had a dream last night on a collage made of found bits of leaves and sticks, something I have been thinking about for a while, this is my sub conscious reminding me to get started on this project!

Hi Leah! I am still doing a doodle drawing a day. I just love pulling an image out of all the random lines and shapes. I’m also at least laying in the base colors and sometimes finishing them. I have tons of drawings in various stages of being painted. I have also begun writing little stories to go with them, which I’m enjoying very much, plus it satisfies my writing cravings. :)

I have some new posts on my blog Moxie Blue this week. So far there are 3. Not much to do with nature, except maybe the mixed media one. It has leaves, a star, petals, & eggs, and I’m going to post it now. :)

Thanks so much for giving us a place to share our endeavors. It keeps me motivated to do something creative every day. Plus, I get to see what everyone else is doing. :)

spring:nature:birds….

i am still working on my prayer dolls every day for an art exhibition i am in next month. having an exhibition coming up really helps keep me on track with doing art every day. now i am finding that my creativity is inspiring more creativity. new ideas, new projects, i feel like i am riding a wave of creativity and it is so fun!

just back from yellowstone & montana and immersion in nature- inspiration everywhere!

Thank you for all the inspiration, every single day.

Hi Leah and everyone else. I have missed checking in for a couple of weeks because I was away at a conference and it has taken me a while to get back into some routines. I have given a link to a new art journal photo on Flickr because my blog is being moved and I am mid-stream. Unfortunately I have had to change my webhost and it is a lot of work setting up the new blog and migrating all my posts over there. Hopefully, by this time next week my blog will be all new and operational!

The photo you see is of a journal page that I did to experiment with using leaves I gathered in my back yard to stamp an image in paint. I had fun with this and love how it turned out. I also was playing with making a multi-colored background, using tissue paper and some nice origami paper I had around the studio to collage onto the page.

It reminded me of spring and how all the leaves and flowers are starting to bloom again – just as in my life I seem to start over again often (where I live, what kind of art I do, new outlooks, new web hosts!) Hence the title “Begin Again”.

I have been taking a lot of photos lately… my “room” I create in is under construction… meaning cleaning out the clutter…. trying to get it under control…
