Storytelling & Collage: A chat with Kathryn Antyr

March 17th, 2010

I'm so excited to be able to share this chat with the super sweet and creative, Kathryn Antyr! I've known Kathryn through the world of blogging for some time now, but this was the first time we'd had a chance to speak. And oh, was it fun! Kathryn is bursting with wisdom and insights about the creative process and the magic of telling stories through art.

I could relate so much to her collage-making process of letting go and allowing intuitive feelings to guide the process. I loved the way she talked about using art to re-tell our stories and I also loved how Kathryn is using the Hero's Journey as a framework in her Storytelling + Collage online workshop, What a beautiful idea!

Learn more about Kathryn's beautiful process by listening in to the interview below. Click the link below to listen or right-click (ctrl-click on a Mac) to save it to your computer and listen to later.

Lots of love from Germany!!

yes, yes, yes. to all of this.

Thank you, two beautiful inspiring women, I hope I get to do the story telling class, I don’t think I have ever won anything, but I suppose there is a 1st time for everything!!!!

Oh, Kathryn is definitely a sweetie and it’s nice to hear her talk, thanks for sharing this. I totally love the idea of unlocking stories with our intuitive creative processes. It’s fun but self-exploratory at the same time…

I am SO ready to tell my story!!! to learn..to grow…
to fly! Throw my hat into that ring please!!

The point that really stuck with me was how the storyteller has the power to name our experiences… That one point was exactly what I needed – the reframing… THANK YOU!!!

What an inspirational conversation. Thank you for sharing & thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I would love to participate in this.

Fabulous! Thanks for sharing.

I would love to win a spot in your class! Thanks for the opportunity!

Love Kathryn! She’s such a dear!
So of course I’d love to win a spot in the workshop…

THis is all too fabulous! Loved listening and learning. THe wonderful hing about collage is that I can always make one..whereas sometimes I feel blocked when it comes to painting,,etc. I just go to my box of clippings and voila..a collage comes to life. the giveaway for the workshop is incredible!

I love Kathryn’s work! I would love to learn more about storytelling & collage and I think that she would be great leading the way!

I think collage is a perfect way to inspire stories, whether they be internally and/or externally motivated. The chance to be a part of this workshop would be fabulous! =) Happy St. Patty’s Day! (and thanks for the beautiful images, yay!)

I love Kathryn ;)
I’ll listen when my girls will have their nap (hard to concentrate while they’re playing around).

Yay, I would love to take this class ♥
Thank you Leah and Kathryn.

Leah,
What an inspiring post…and love the collage. I look forward to listening to the audio (I’m at work right now)… and I would love to be a part of her Collage + Storytelling online class. Our collages tell our stories, especially our unconscious ones! Congrats to you both!

Thanks so much for sharing this. Please enter my name.

Great to be able to put a voice to a name. :D
I had a look at the workshop slide and wow! I´ve already lernt something (I hadn´t thought of the “coming back” part). I´d love to learn more!

I’m looking forward to listening, and glad to have a shot at the workshop. Personal storytelling and the Hero’s Journey are subjects near and dear to my heart.

If I win the drawing or not – either way, I’m taking this storytelling and collage class, and encouraging anyone interested to sign up for it, also!

ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!

great interview. i loved the whole magazine collage part about how it ends up telling some kind of story. great stuff. thanks Kathryn for being interviewed and thanks Leah for doing it. you ladies rock.

What a great idea for a give-a-way! Storytelling would be a totally new experience for me! Thanks for the opportunity!

Pick me! :)

Congratulations my friend Kathryn
I am so very proud

Great interview……..
Keep up the great work
Love Jeanne

Wow, my life is busy as heck right now but I would defiately MAKE TIME to do this workshop!!! Never let it be said that I don’t have my priorities straight!!

great ideas and insights. Thanks for sharing your inspiriational ideas through CED and interviews.

I would love to win a spot in this workshop. I do SoulCollage cards and teach workshops and this is another way to tell your story and soul’s journey through collage. But I would like to explore the storytelling idea more and learn how you are using it in collage arts.

I would LOVE to take this class for myself, but more importantly to share this with my students. I teach Art to at-risk youth and I think this would be a great way for them to “get their stories out”!

Kathryn and Leah, so lovely to listen to this wonderful chat. Sounds like a wonderful workshop.

that would be a great birthday gift! Plus – my master’s work was on story and social change – this looks right up my alley – very exciting! My hat’s in the ring!

I’d love to do this! Thanks for the opportunity!

Wonderful interview. Very inspirational, and gave me a lot to think about!

This is a wonderful interview and a wonderful giveaway. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I win! hee hee :)

Thank you both for the inspiring interview. I love the idea of reframing our own stories. Yes, food for thought.

The video was so inspiring. Will I ever be able to create art that speaks to others? I really don’t know but I would love to try.

As always I am inspired by you both!

Leah and Kathryn…
I listened to your conversation and oh, how inspiring! it’s wonderful that we can all be inspired by..and encourage one another, simply by being who we are…and expressing..and celebrating it in all the ways we’re drawn to. I am thankful for such a warm community of beautiful spirits!
Abundant blessings to you, both..and all who enter here :)
