Creative Every Day Check-In: September 13-19

September 13th, 2010

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the  2010 Creative Every Day Challenge anytime! Find out more and fill out the sign-up form here to join in!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 9/13/10 - 9/19/10.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for September is the element of Water. I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month and you can feel free to use it to inspire your creations, follow your own muse, or do some combination. You can find out more about this month's theme and some prompts to get you started with September's theme here.

Happy Creating!

I’ve been noticing how much water means to me in different aspects of my life lately and how it can inspire me in its different forms. Im not sure where this will lead me but we will see .

water is a great, symbolic element of change as it is always moving, just as we all are. it is cleansing and purifying too, which I really like.

It’s raining here, I can here how the water hits the ground. I think it’s a great time to be creative indoors! Cheers!

I got all caught up in last month’s theme and it took me a while to stop tinkering with fire related art, but I finally started doing lots of water art over the weekend.

I did do a post all about the Salish Sea from one of my many walks last week but it is the spirit of fall and death that has held my attention. This week too starting today with “Buddha in the Bushes” and a photograph accompanied by a death poem. Best of the week everyone!

Some still-life, some whimsy, some fine clouds this week

While I didn’t mention it, there is definitely water apparent in one of my paintings. The second painting is inspired by the inkblot technique I learned here in art everyday month last year. You can’t see it, probably, but my epitaph is there.

“With Gratitude,

Julie”

Enjoy!

Looking forward to showing my art off :)

Um… water… yes, well… drawing makes me thirsty? HA! Seriously, I did post frog art this week. And hot sauce. Which really does make me thirsty ;-)

Hmm. Hadn’t realized until just now that it could fit with this month’s theme, but the drawing I posted on my blog today is a SEAmonster.

I added my “water” painting that I did in acrylics’yellow on grey gesso. So I mixed all different amounts of white to the yellow and grey added to the different puddles of color. It was fun!

Ah, late checking in again this week. The last few days I have played with my art and it was a great release. I took some old, small pieces that I didn’t like and decided to redo them. I let my imagination run wild. When you get too tied up in thining about your art I think it can stifle you. So I have been letting loose and I love it. Oh, and water? Well I added it to both of the pieces I renovated! Geez, I’m really rambling, better call this a wrap!

None of my paintings seem to be coming out this week. But I’m painting anyway!

Having some ideas about the purpose of art in my life. But it’s all good. Life itself is taking over. Art is in service to life.

I haven’t been creative this week at all. Unfortunately, my MS has taken all my attention again, so I’ve posted old stuff on my blog. Trying to get out of this painful rut. I always manage to see my way clear and carry on, but it seems to be taking longer this time.
Stay inspired!
Michelle

oops! I’ve been doing a lot but forgot to link in Mr. Linky :-)
Hoping to post more pics on my blog soon of drawing and painting I’m doing.
