Creative Every Day Check-In: August 29 – September 4

August 29th, 2011

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities.

Join in the Challenge: Read all the details and sign up for the  2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 8/29/11 - 9/4/11.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag  #CED2011 to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for August is Red, which you can read more about and get ideas for here. September's (totally optional) theme is History, which you can read more about here.

Happy Creating!

Flowers and beads and bookmarks (in Red)!

Hai every day creatives, happy monday and happy week!!

If you are in a voting mood, I could use your vote for my little red ridighood and the seven wolves illustration…

I did join the Uncovered Cover Art contest (very nice blog) with re-imagined bookcovers. There are lots of nice submissions.

Voting is possible till the 30th of August and is highly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

greetings from Nelleke

This week’s reflection is on death, family, and the power of love to bring a community together.

Creativity has been in fits and starts the last while as I can only sit up at the computer for a limited time.
Stay inspired!

Thoughts this weekend have been all about Irene.

Hope everyone who was in her path fared well!!!

My creative activities lately have been concentrated to helping revive a local “cultural society” in our community to promote the arts.We want to help provide venues for all sorts of artists to highlight their work and to bring different cultural events to our community. We are compiling a list of artists, crafspeople, musicians, etc. so that our weekly newspaper can keep the public informed as to where they can connect with these talented people! The first big undertaking will be an Artists and Farmer’s Market to be held on Sundays from early Sept to late fall. Exciting stuff!!!! I’m connecting with a whole new group of dynamic “worker bees”!!

My blog is about creativity and helping others be aware that there are many ways to be creative and we all are creative in our life. Today is Mental Monday with an article about healing trauma ~ It is the beginning of a series with characters Zena and Zoe ~ a weekly series ~ tune in ~ love to have you visit and comment ~ Lots of info at Share the Creative Journey and lots more at A Creative Harbor ~ my 2nd blog ~ Have a great week! namaste, Carol ^_^

Just posted my easy mixed media booklet with directions on my blog. I have not been posting regularly on the weekly Monday CED check-ins but definitely trying to be creative every day.
Mary :-)

More fairies and flowers, I think I may be done with them :) But have been drawing and painting almost everyday which feels wonderful.

Wow. Everyone is up to such wondrous things! This week my life was about transitioning everyone back to school and me back to more creative freedom. My art is a reflection of that.

Looking forward to visiting everyone’s blogs!

In focusing on this month’s theme of {red}, another theme emerged for me: living Red. It has now officially become a category on my blog! ;)

As I have journaled about {red} and adopted it as my visual cue for “puttin’ on my big girl pants” I continue to see new ways to live Red {passionately, fully, without regret and not constantly on pause due to what-if’s} …

All because of this intention to be creative every day and focused on the color red. And that makes me smile. :D

This is fantastic to find such a challenge. It is actually very fitting for me to take this on since my business, Club Creative Studio Art has a mantra: BE CREATIVE EVERYDAY! I have joined (late) but, have added several RED creations to my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ClubCreativeStudio to finish up the month of August. I plan on posting my creations there and include them on the Friday weekly posts on my blog:

This is going to be fun, thanks for the support. It wil be great to connect with other creative people here.

Created a new mixed media painting entitled Lava Road!
Probably would have never used red, but this August’s challenge inspired me to utilize it the entire month, and I enjoyed it!

I was making little art pieces for a craft fair when I learned that my longtime friend was sick. I made a piece for her and will send it tomorrow.

I looked hard at my clothing and realized since being a yoga instructor for so long I’ve sort of given up on real clothes!

I’m deep into making something nice for the trek up to the Wine Country Ukulele Festival, where I will enjoy building up my creative skills in musical areas, as well.

Have a great late summer, everyone!

I had a great time being creative with my kids – they were addicted to the marbling. I loved that it just used plain water – so easy to set up and clean up. My daughter went on to make a book with the papers she marbled.

Finally, finally able to check in after losing power after Hurricane Irene. I’ve used my time to make lots of jewelry

I just joined but have been doing things creatively for some time now. I remembered seeing your site a while back and wanted now to commit to being ‘creative’ every day instead of committing to doing a specific task such as photography or art journaling (everyday). I wanted to be a little wider and broader in my commitment so I could do one creative thing one day, something else another day . . . I think this will work out well for me. thank you for organizing! lenna

today I’m sharing the beginning of a 30 Days Photographic Challenge I’ll be doing through the month of September. it’s more a story than history, but I think it’s cool and creative anyway :)
