Art Every Day Month Check-in Day 1!

November 1st, 2017, 18 Comments

Hello, Creators! Feel free to leave comments on this post about your daily creations. You can leave a link or just talk about what you're up to. You can also share in our Facebook group. Or on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #aedm2017.

Remember that all forms of creativity are welcome. You can paint, cook, dance, write, photograph, doodle, sew, craft, whatever! And if you happen to miss a day (or more), don't let that stop you. Just start fresh the next day and get back to creating. I'm so thrilled to be sharing this experience with all of you!

Happy creating!

p.s. Because some folks are missing the Mr. Linky widget, I've brought it back! Although we've expanded into social media realms so that people who don't blog can share and participate, I of course want bloggers who don't use social media to be able to share too. I thought sharing links in the comments would be an ok option for folks, but I want everyone to be happy, so I hope this helps!

Art Every Day Month Survival Guide

October 31st, 2017, No Comments

Art Every Day Month begins tomorrow! Feel free to come back to creativeeveryday.com and leave a comment on tomorrow's post with a link to what you're working on or just comment about what you're working on. You can also post on the Facebook page, on Twitter, or Instagram with the tag #aedm2017.

If you've joined in and are worried that you need some extra support, motivation or a daily prompt, then you can sign up for the Survival Guide, a private daily blog with prompts, encouragement, inspiration and a weekly audio exercise.

And here's are some tips about getting ready for the month: Everyone will approach this differently. Some people like to have a project in mind they'll work on all month (like a large piece), or a specific act of creativity they'll do each day (1 photo each day), while others will do whatever they're inspired to do each day. I tend to go with the flow, but I also like to do some sketching sessions in advance, so on days when I'm feeling less than inspired, I already have some ideas ready that I'd like to explore further. And when those ideas aren't calling to me, I just begin and let my intuition be my guide. Some days the work is wonderful, some days it is not, it is all ok. What I have found is that the process of working every single day, is powerful and interesting things always come up. It's fun. And even more fun doing it with a group of people. So get excited, folks, this is going to be fun!

Art Every Day Month 2017 Sign-Up

October 18th, 2017, 184 Comments

Art Every Day Month is once again right around the corner! This will be the 16th year I have been creating daily for the month of November and inviting others to join in. Art Every Day Month (AEDM) is a low pressure challenge for anyone who wants to challenge themselves to create daily for a month. Low pressure means if you miss a day, brush yourself off, and get back to it. No worries. By art, I'm talking broadly. You could be cooking, taking pictures, dancing, writing music, crafting for the holidays, painting, sculpting, writing poetry, making jewelry, sewing, knitting, art journaling, you name it. You could decide to do a small 2"x2" drawing each day or you could do something different every day. Up to you! I tend to do more drawing and painting because that's what I like, but you can follow your heart. Just create!

This year, I'll mainly be posting my creations in the Facebook group where you can share your creations as well. If you're on Instagram or Facebook you can use the hashtag #aedm2017. I'll also have a post here on November 1st, where you can share links to creations you've made throughout the month.

Read more about the challenge here and then sign up below by leaving a comment. If you have a blog, website, flickr page, or instagram handle where you'll be sharing, share that below. If you aren't sharing your work online, then just leave a comment saying that you're participating.

The challenge begins November 1st!

Creative Every Day Challenge 2017

January 7th, 2017, 3 Comments

Hi, All! Some folks have been asking about the Creative Every Day Challenge for 2017. I've been preoccupied with other projects and while I'm still very committed to being creative every day in my life, I was feeling unsure if I wanted to continue running the project through the blog. I've decided on a bit of a compromise for now. I continue to have the Creative Every Day Facebook group for sharing images and creative endeavors anytime. I will be posting there mainly at this time, but I'll put the sign up here for those who want to commit to being creative every day this year (hooray!) I've created the button above for your use. As always, I encourage ALL forms of creativity and wish you an amazingly creative year! Feel free to sign up below!

Art Every Day Month Check In

Welcome to Art Every Day Month

The box below is a widget that I provide as an optional place to share a direct link (blog post or flickr image) to your creations. If you don't have something to share each day, don't worry about it! Share when you can. In the meantime, be sure to check out what other participants are creating! Check out the links from this post and the links on the participant post for instant inspiration. You can also see lots of great work in the AEDM flickr group and Facebook group. Feel free to share your work there too! I'll be traveling part of the month, but I'll be sharing my images on the Facebook group.

If you use the widget, please link to a specific blog post or image, not your main blog page or website (or you can link to a specific image if you're linking to a flickr page.) For example, in a past AEDM, for day one I linked to my first post: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2010/11/the-owl-and-the-pussycat.html instead of my main blog page: http://www.creativeeveryday.com. This makes it easier for people to find your work from that day.  If you want to share, but don't have a specific page to link to, feel free to use the comments section of this post to talk about what you're working on. If you're posting less than once a day, no problem! Just keep on creating, that's the most important part. If you get off track and miss a few days of creating, don't let that freeze you up either. Just pick up where you left off and keep moving forward. One foot in front of the other. You are making your life a more creative one with each step.

How to participate in Art Every Day Month: Check out the AEDM info page for all the details, instructions on how to get involved, and then sign up here. The Information page also has instructions about how to use the widget below, if you're having any trouble with it.

Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram: You can use the same #aedm2016 hashtag if you're playing along on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. A Facebook group has been created as yet another place to share.

Creative Every Day Challenge participants: If you're not doing Art Every Day Month, you can still use the Art Every Day Month check-in posts to leave a link to what you're working on.
