Creative Every Day Check-In: January 2 – 8

January 2nd, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities. To those who celebrate, I hope you have a beautiful Christmas!

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/2/12 - 1/8/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is New, which you can read more about and get ideas for here.

Happy Creating!

Happy new year and happy creating to all my ced pals!!

So Sorry! I didn’t mean to put myself on the link twice. I forgot to link it to today’s post and not just my blog. So, I did a do-over. It stuck and I don’t know how to change it.

I’m happy to be here and it does challenge me to be creative on a daily basis.

My theme for “new” is creating abstract paintings and just being loose. Abstract painting allows me to later approach my traditional paintings with fluid brush strokes.

Happy New Year!

I made an announcement yesterday on my blog that I was going to do a blog posting every day for the entire year (that’s 366 because of Leap Year). Now I’ve decided to go one step further and be creative every day, because that’s where my path has been leading me. I look forward to this challenge!

This seems easier to get to which is good ~ thanks and Happy New Year to you ~ namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey)

My year with a pocket camera. Happy 2012 !!!

I am soooo excited to get started for the New Year! I just browsed everyone’s site and there are lots of lovelies to look at!

My word for this year is Renewal. Thanks for inspiring and encouraging me with one of my resolutions….do something creative everyday. Crae

Looking forward to a year devoted to creativity.

thank you, leah, for your inspiration and devotion! if i’m already part of Creative Every Day from last year, do i need to sign up again? blessings, katy

Thank you, Leah, for inspiring us all to take up this challenge again in 2012. I am really hoping to post to my blog more frequently this year!

Well, here we are in the new year 2012. I spent New Year’s day making artist trading cards. What fun. Stay creative.

My words for 2012 are “Claim it”. I am claiming all of the things which make me who I am, including my creativity and spirituality. There are many things in store for this year…drawing, writing, knitting, and other random projects as they strike my fancy. This week I’ll be working on my first ever knit garment. I’ve been knitting for about a year now and to date have done things like hats, scarves, stoles, washcloths, headbands. I recently learned to knit in the round so working on this sweater is really exciting to me. Thank you for doing the challenge Leah! This will help to keep me inspired. :)

Thank you for your inspiration, keeping the challenges that help us all keep at our practices. Creativity is often about the practice, the beginning…the rest will follow :)

wow! Leah–I can’t believe we have been doing this since 2008!! —4 years! this year I am determined to “make a living” with my creativity…see what I have planned at my blog ;-) and welcome everyone to a fresh year!

Oops, sorry for listing twice; had a brain-glitch!
My current post reflects “new” because, believe it or not, decoupage/collage with fabric and paper is new to me.

I wish you all the best creativity, contentment, and peace in 2012.

Creating something every day is part of my project366 for this year. Try outs, finished items and work in progress will feature in the post somewhere on most days. If it isn’t there a link will be placed to direct you to it.

Welcome everyone! So glad you’re here.

Tina and Denise, don’t worry about it! It happens!

Katy, yes, I do a new CED participant list every year, so if you could sign up again for 2012, that would be great! http://creativeeveryday.com/2012-creative-every-day-challenge

Aurora, that’s awesome!! I’m so glad to have had you along for this journey since 2008. Good luck with your business endeavors this year as well. That’s so exciting!

New… seems like the perfect theme for the month. What is new in my creativity is to take it one step further some new tools. First I must sell enough work to make the investment but I am off to a good start with three extra large canvas prints purchased yesterday. But I also want to enjoy more time in my creative process this year… like the first sunrise of 2012 that is shared in eleven images on my blog. In many ways, I may appear to be quieter this year but it will only be because I am carving out more time to paint and take photographs. What will be new is possibly to hear less from me at times. Happy New Year Leah and fellow creative everyday beings! It feels good t check in :)

Just saying hello, and looking forward to this <3

Off we go again for another yeaar of creativity. Thank you, Leah for hosting this. It is so great to see what everyone is doing.
xx

Good morning! I’m just jumping in today and super inspired to be part of this 2012 challenge. Happy new year. See you all throughout this awesome challenge!

Hi creative lovelies, I really want to take part in these monthly themes more actively this year, and thought that setting my creative intentions would be a great place to start for the theme NEW, with my word for the year: stories. I look forward to being a part of this community :)

I just found your site today…searching the internet for some daily artistic inspiration and there it was! Thank you for creating this community/outlet/haven/motivation!!!!-Jenny

Happy New Year, everyone. I don’t have a new post up just yet, but am doing a painting in acrylics which is new for me. As soon as it’s a little farther along, and I get caught up with an email backlog, I’ll put something up. Meanwhile, great theme, happy creating!

Hitting the ground running creatively speaking so far this year! (About freaking time.) New painting, a bit unlike me I think but I’m very happy with it. Looking forward to having a moment to see what everyone else is up to!

Love, love, love this as I make my “new” art room useful!

Please forgive me, I changed the set up on my blog from a page to a category. I am listed at #258 on the participant list – could you please delete that one? I have added my name and new link again. Sorry for the trouble! Thanks for offering this fantastic challenge.

Happy New Year friends!! It’s wonderful to begin another year in this creative space! Looking forward to our collective creations!

This week’s post – my 2012 Vision Board and tapping into the language of the soul – the creative feminine.

Happy New Year! I’m so excited this is my first year participating in the challenge and my first blog.

I used a pattern that was new to me and really challenged my creativity process. It was difficult to figure our some of the stitches, but I am really pleased with the results.

A new painting, the first in the new year. I know, not a very original take on the theme, but I hope to come up with some better interpretations during the journey (my word for 2012) through the year and while creating (nearly) every day. I’m looking forward to this challenge, and the inspiration!

I’ve posted a sketch… I’m beginning to sketch when I go out and will post when I return. A NEW activity for me.

This one is of a pelican. He was outside the restaurant where I had breakfast the other day at Port Canaveral.

Lou

Love this creation ~ also can relate ~ as my post on A Creative Harbor today is Love ~ thanks, namaste, CArol

Happy New Year! Looking forward to see all the wonderful creations!

I’m in again this year. Last year was my first go and while I was mostly successful I didn’t post about it. This year the plan is to show up at the blog consistently. Got my feet wet in December with 30 Days of Drawing and hope to keep the momentum going.

So glad to be participating once again, now that 2012 has started. See you next week!

2 posts in one week. I’m on a roll. xoxo Terah

I’m working on a new cardboard painting series. I’m aiming for 100 pieces, so I have a lot of work to do.

My first post for this challenge! I’m SO excited! Love this month’s theme too!

I have made more creations since the 2nd, that I have not uploaded to the blog yet, but here are a few.
If you scroll down far enough you’ll see my “farewell 2011″ post, which shows my “phrase for 2012″ which is “let it go”.
A fellow blog friend suggested the one word…”release”

I wish you and yours, and ALL the CED ppl…
the Love of Family, the Warmth of Home, the Gift of Friendship, Health of Body, Creative Imagination of Mind, Calmness of Soul, and Prosperity in Life for 2012!!
Hugs,
Susan

I have just signed up as I have just started a new blog based on the idea of creative every day and I am hoping it will keep me inspired. I find it can get very lonely in my studio.
Andrea

Just found you, love this site!

I’ve enjoyed stretching my literary critic muscles again by writing down a few thoughts about some good reads lately.
Hugs,
