March Showers, Bring Me Flowers?

March 8th, 2008

Oh, that's not how it goes. Is it March mud, bring me crud? No?

It's a typical March weekend in New England. Rather gray and gloomy. A good day to be cozied up indoors with hot chocolate and taxes... Heh. O.k., no day is great for working on taxes, but the gloom outside makes me feel like it's a day to be inside anyways.

I've had a bite on a large painting at the coffee shop which is cool and also a request for art instruction which is slightly scary, but also interesting. I think I'll go for it. I've been brainstorming ways I can do some teaching, some kind of collage/mixed-media/intuitive creating class. I'd love to lead an in-person "Artist's Way" group too, but I'm unsure of where and I also want to plan it out so that the timing works with scheduled weddings and getaways. I can hardly believe it, but in just a few weeks I'll be flying across the country for Artfest! Ack! I just ordered some cute Moo Cards of my art for trades. I've booked my flight and lodging and rental car and I need to pick up the supplies I'll need.

In another coffee shop all the way in Minneapolis, my dear friend, Jessie is having an opening for her gorgeous dog portraits. I'm so excited for Jessie and the steps she's taken to make her dreams come true. I could use a little of her determination and bravery right about now. A bravery infusion.

Jessie is doing a great promotion through April on her dog portraits, so if you or someone you know would be interested in a dog portrait, do check it out. Her work is awesome!! I'm particularly loving her painting of "Murphy."

Wanna come visit me? Today we have lots of sunshine and temps around 70ยบ! All the trees in my yard have blossoms on them and Spring is definitely here!

We had SNOW here today which is just unheard of! Amazing! (I know it is odd to get so excited over snow but we never have it so it is just very odd… :) )

I would so love to be a part of an in-person TAW group with you but – alas – we live too far apart. That would be so wonderful though. I hope you get to do it.

xo,

Karen Beth :)

Have fun at ArtFest. I love Port Townsend! I just got back from Western Washington (Seattle area) and it was gorgeous! The weather was in the high 50s and no rain the entire time I was there for a week. And the mountains provided wondrous views!

hey leah~ are you going to be in seattle at all during your artfesting? I would love, love, love to meet you if you are. Coffee or something!?
I thought that i might be able to make it out to P.T. to meet up with people, but I don’t think tha’ts going to happen, unfortunately.
Let me know! bridgette @ guerzonmills .com

My grandmother always told me it was “March flowers, April showers”. :) Have fun at Artfest!

Oops, got those the wrong way round – March showers, April flowers. That’s why you shouldn’t type with coffee in one hand and a cat on your lap.

April showers bring MAY flowers. At least back in the day – what with global warming perhaps things have moved up a bit? Anyways – Artsfest looks like great fun! Talk about getting inspired….maybe next year I’ll go – looks like they’re pretty full this year…want to hear all about it! Also – the moo things from flicker…did they make things for you? I looked at their website and it’s obviously designed for the under 40 generation, not me, and I got frustrated trying to find prices and left. =] Call me impatient (hey, I’m an Aries, what can I say). Looks like a great idea though. May your mud clear up soon. (we had downpours but then crazy 50 mph winds for 12 hours or so and we dried out really fast!)

dear leah, thank you so much for the link love and kind words. you are such a wonderful friend who inspires me on a regular basis. i agree that a bravery infusion would be a good idea since i think, as artists, we all need one on occasion.

good luck with your taxes and OF COURSE you should teach an intuitive collage class! you would be excellent at it because you are so good at being an inspiration and investing yourself in others in order to help them succeed. that is a talent of yours, my dear. you should definately be using it. ;)

You are going to artfest?!? Lucky lucky you! I really really really want to go in October to Portland. I have friends up there too. :) Sorry for your crummy weather. This is the only time of the year I actually don’t mind the desert. It’s been lovely!

Oh congrats!! I think you would make a fantastic teacher. You are so genuine and you have so much to offer. I know you’ve “infused” me on more than one occasion.
Hugs,
a.

Taxes – have them hovering over my head, too. Arg!
I taught a watercolor workshop in early Feb. at a small gallery/studio where I have art & jewelry for sale. Now they are asking for more & I’m trying to work out plans. Good luck with your planning.
