Creative Every Day: January 26th – February 1st, 2009

January 26th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day 2009 participants!

Feel free to leave a comment on this post or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 1/26/09 - 2/1/09.

The use of this widget is not required. It's an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post or posts during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to.

To find out more about Creative Every Day 2009, check out the details here and then if you want to sign up, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know (a link to my email is in the upper left sidebar.) When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required!) If you start posting links on the Mr. Linky widget without letting me know that you're participating, I may not see that you're new, so do let me know! Also, if you notice that your blog is not in the sidebar and you thought you had signed up, let me know, so I can get it up there as soon as possible.

There are some folks participating who do not have a blog and for some reason their names are linking to the CED info page. I'm not sure why that's happening, but I wanted you to know that when you click on a name that takes you to the CED page, it means that they don't have a blog at this time.

The totally optional theme for January is Play and February's theme is Words! I'll be posting about the theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the themes here and here.

Happy Creating!!

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web" - Picasso

I hope I have done this right! I remember that I had finished a piece of jewelry last week that I hadn’t posted.

I’ve been quite busy with the painting and have finished a small acrylic painting and three oil studies. Posted pictures and such on the blog!

Hey ya’ll….I was very inspired and busy last week working on a doll, a stuffed fish, and a collage…then the PMS hit hard! I cannot work on art…I get so frustrated and will throw things away. So I gardened! It was awesome to go get free composted horse poo, weed and clean up. Exhilerating to be outside (even though yesterday was 35 degrees).
Creating will resume in a day or two…Have a great week everyone!

I find it difficult to think about writing here. There is so much to do in a day that I really need to relax and play with fabric in the evening to find my rest. And that is the moment I am most creative. You will find out about what I am doing on my blog.

I have my weekly update up. Shows what all I did last week. Love Hugs and Blessings Ninnie

hi leah!
i had fun this week palying with doodling and embroidery in my doodle designs online class. :)

:) melissa

the post is 2D collage/abstract play. And there will be more play with beads…beads…and more beads! But I haven’t posted them yet. And I’m making some almost daily! and some are even good enough for jewelry to sell! woohoo! January play has been delightful and I do believe really helped with my bead attitude. Thanks!

my creativity last week was mostly photography, but i do plan to get some play in thsi week while flying off to work.

I’m acting out this month’s theme by playing with my new camera. :)

My creative everyday? Um, I put together a .com in 24 hours, ha!
xxoo,

bonus for knitters: I posted a great baby bootie pattern….

Continued to work in my art journal with prompts posted by Misty Mawn. My absolute favorite exercise all week was making a painting inspired by my favorite artist, Vincent Van Gogh. It was an exciting process for me.

Thinking ahead to the February theme — found some very old words to express my feelings lately.

Hi Everyone! Sounds like we’re all very busy… I’m amazed I got anything art-related done today! Yes, It’s time to think of Feb. isn’t it. Jan. went by so quickly…

I am still really enjoying keeping an art journal. I found myself thinking a song lyrics today and this picture seemed to go with it. I tried to remember not to take it too seriously and remind myself that I was playing. Such fun!

I can hardly believe that January is almost over and I have created and played each day of the month. What a fabulous way to start the year. Each time I log creativity in the log that you gifted us, Leah, I feel a surge of confidence and positivity. Again, I recommend using the creativity log to track artistic efforts. So so rewarding. Thanks!

perhaps a gift from God.

Some art. Fanart, actually:P

Wahoo! Managed to get some decent photographs of my sketches. Let me know what you think. Everyones opinions is positive :)

I’ve just posted a playful version of a San Francisco Victorian house (or “Painted Lady” as they are sometimes called).

Embroidery is a totally new-to-me art form, but I haven’t really known how to start. Finally I just “jumped in” with http://www.flickr.com/photos/raqkat/3232395134/.

Still having fun and getting more daring sharing sketches. I need lots of practice in order to get better, so I am trying to sketch something every day. I am still playing in my art journal as well.

Loving what you are doing, Leah!

Ok Leah, I am finally ready to jump aboard Creative Every Day for 2009. I added the button to my blog and have already been doing some fun things with words. As far as what I missed in January…I am always playing!

this drawing was very heavily borrowed from an image i saw online, using my tablet. friend is getting engaged and she and her hubby-to-be have a koi pond, so i thought the party invite needed some fishies. :)

I’ve been on the road and being creative – but not anything I could post… Most of it I’m not at liberty to even discuss with more than a few top managers. So it is with some relief that I have gotten to the end of a long January, and can post this comment on my stressful schedule the last two weeks. Such fun overlap with my post and the quote by Picasso. My emotions in this case might have come from the sky – all this cloudy gloomy weather, in particular.

Thanks for the ‘play’ category. I have spent the last few days stictly playing and it is amazing what I have learned by letting go!

Hi all!
I have been a slug lately…too many deadlines at work to do much in the way of playing and creating. But I am so glad that all of you keep me motivated!
Did I mention that my 10 year old son and I are taking a pottery wheel class? For 6 weeks we are meeting for 2 hours each Tuesday night. In the first two classes we have thrown a combined 7 pots! We are getting the hang of it. I am so thrilled to be able to do this with my son…he is the sport-o so this is so out of his comfort zone!
Also, I am working on submitting my jewelry to various publications. The next one I am in is an online readers’ gallery…at BeadingDaily.com for their Heart Felt theme.
And…my 7 year old daughter made me earrings the other day…complete with a simple loop to hook onto the ear wires! There is real talent there! So I convinced her we should try to sell them…so they are off to a local store that sells my earrings. It made for a very creative experience for us both…and a great math problem for her to figure out the bottom line!
Enjoy the day!
Erin

I’ve been playing with drawing – something I have not “stretched” myself to do until jumping on the bandwagon on being Creative Every Day 2009. It’s been a lot of fun! I’m probably going to be adding words to the piece I am currently working on – jumping ahead to February’s “Words” :)

When you get a chance, stop by and say hello and comment on any of the pieces I’ve been creating over the past few weeks! Would love to hear from you – artfully, sherry over at GOT ART?

More haiku/senryu this week!

I also did some word art. :D

Two new paintings I was very playful and experimental with.

New sketch from yesterday–didn’t have time to post it—had painting class ALL DAY! WHoopee!

Happy playing everyone!

Hi everyone! YAY, getting ready for next month and playfully playing with words and art–I wrote a new poem this morning and made an illo for it. http://nopolar.blogspot.com/2009/01/easter-gift-from-dead-mother-take-2.html

a few thoughts only…

I just found you through One World, One Heart! What a great idea. I wanna play! I’ve signed up under Jamie Lott but my alias is Peach Street! ;)

I just found the CED Challenge and love the idea! Crossed Purposes (my blog) is my way of showing my needlework progress each day and to share daily happenings in my life.

You need to make a comment on your organizational tips/time management success stories in order to win!

How do you do that?! Why do these quotes always hit me right in the chest – right on target for what I’m grappling with or experiencing this week? The Picasso quote was just the thing, as I “find” images in various messes of paint, and I know the images actually come from inside me in some manner that still confuses, delights, and surprises me every time. All these things that I’ve seen and absorbed and carried around until they came back out on the paper.
