Creative Every Day Check-In: December 13 – 19
December 12th, 2010
This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities. Normally, I post these on Monday morning, but with Art Every Day Month just ending, this one will be for a shorter week!
Join in the Challenge: You can sign up for the 2011 Creative Every Day Challenge here!
Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 12/13/10 - 12/19/10.
The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.
You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, there's a growing Twitter list of CED participants and you can use the hashtag #CED2010 for the rest of this year and then #CED2011 beginning in January to help others find your Creative Every Day tweets!
Theme: The (totally optional) theme for December is the element of Air. You can read more about the theme and some ideas to get you started here.
Happy Creating!

I’m afraid today’s painting (another Christmas market in Munich) is much too cute, but it’s all I’ve got! Hopefully I learned something from it.
There are still 2 more days left to enter my Faroe Islands goody bag giveaway, if anyone else is interested. Thanks to the CEDers who have already entered and helped to spread the word! I love this group.

So my link today is not a drawing or a painting. Its words. But I got on a tangent where I saw how much the language we use daily in self talk or aloud with others can either paint us into a box or allow our possibilities to flow and color the world.
Happy Monday Everybody!

All of a sudden my creativity is surging and I’ve had some time to give into it. Amazing during this busy season. It always helps to come here and see what youare all up to and to visit you sites for inspiration. Have a great week!

I am noticing how being in the wrong job adversely affects my outlook and well-being.
This time of year is hard for me anyway (my mother died unexpectedly on December 22nd when I was twenty-three), and it’s made harder by feeling like I’m not where I’m supposed to be. Working in an environment where I can’t trust anyone and everyone is afraid to tell the truth makes my soul shrink.
But being ever hopeful, I am dropping cosmic bread crumbs so the Universe can find me and help me along. I applied for three teaching jobs (I can teach other nurses now that I have my Bachelors!) and I sent my resume to a non-profit who is looking for a writer.
Come on, Universe. Show a girl what you can do.

Back from vacation, and randomly the photo I posted today is mostly of air… Love it.

My post was finished a couple of days ago in response to one of the reverb prompts. Though I have backgrounds laid down for more journal pages,it looks like knitting will take over my life for the next week. I’m making wrist warmers…think of it as protection from cold air…and a baby blanket. Working on a deadline at this time of year

Happy St Lucy’s Day! I know the theme of the month is air, but isn’t light illuminated air? At this time of the year, I like celebrating the dark days of winter with light. So, I drew a candle, thinking about illuminating the air, !

Leah, thanks again for hosting this site. It’s a joy to see all the other works, and also to find motivation by being able to share my work here.
It’s funny, but so many times your suggested themes and my works seem to jibe. Stars are in the air, right? I’ve blogged about my Lone Star quilt, almost abandoned (they’re difficult!) and now almost finished.
Hugs,

I posted a new painting and just a few random words about expectations of the season….I want to be all martha stewarty but some days I’m just a hot mess trying to keep it all together….then I look back and see what I’ve accomplished and realized, I did enough…the expectations are self induced and I feel a tiny bit better

Hope you all have a great week!

Last week I got caught up with my work and could do only a few drawings. Felt a bit guilty
Today I did an ecard for Christmas. If you like you can send it out for free. Spread your love!

Its a challenge trying to create amidst pre-Christmas madness & hyper kids. But I am managing a little daily.
Hope you’re all surviving the holiday madness and managing to find time to create.

I just signed up for your Creative Every Day challenge. This is perfect!! In October I set a goal to decorate an envelope every day and send a note to someone. I plan on continuing this for a year (or until I run out of stationery!!) so I’m looking forward to being included in your challenge. Thanks!

I posted a tutorial for making a nice holiday garland from stickers and string for about $2 – it was so much fun
I didn’t have the Air theme in mind but since I love how it wobbles in air currents… I guess it fits!

I;ve been doing little creative things every day…made a couple pairs of earrings, made Christmas bread, started writing 750words most days, and make an effort to sing at least once a day. Having the command to do something creative every day has helped me realize that I don’t have to be creative all at once…I can paint a couple wooden shapes (5 minutes), let them dry while I do other stuff, return to doodle on them (5 minutes), and return even later to add a coat of acrylic (2 minutes). And then at the end of the day, I have something pretty to give away. Yesterday, fridge magnets; today earrings, tomorrow bookmarks!

I love to make things out of remnants and and items I already have. Like these vintage buttons. I collect the buttons and feel drawn to use them in my art. It is evolving. This is my 2nd post Terah

I did a poetry mash, inspired by two works of Robert Frost, based on last two days driving to work. Now, let the vacation begin!
