Creative Every Day Check-In: January 16 – 22
January 16th, 2012
This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities. To those who celebrate, I hope you have a beautiful Christmas!
Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!
Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/16/12 - 1/22/12.
The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.
You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!
Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is New, which you can read more about and get ideas for here.
Happy Creating!
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, Begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it, Begin it now. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Hello Leah, Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year to you all.
I wasn’t able to participate much in the CED themes last year as I had two big projects on the go almost the whole year. Completing the second of those is the theme of the post I linked to above, but although it’s been up on my blog for over a week I was unwell and couldn’t post it for last week’s check-in. At least the delay means the second installment is now also posted, so if you’d like to see both of them – my second-half-of-last-year major project in all its glory! – here they are:

Wishing you a great week.

I have been sorting through older art, blogging about it, and deciding on doing some New art with their themes, like transforming a watercolor series into small metal shields, among other ideas.

I picked up some watercolour paper and masking fluid last Thursday, so will be doing some experimenting and shoe studies for my new shoe/feet series. I have a few reference images I took that I think will lend themselves well to watercolor. Also have some studies in oil pastel I will be working on.
I got a great new book on image transferring techniques, so may do some experimenting with that too. I did image transfer a while back, but with more toxic chemicals, so this looks like fun and more environmentally friendly.

It must be the fresh start of a new year that has me thinking in terms of reorganization right now though I did start on two small pieces last week. Didn’t like them much but a lot of good art starts as a bad art day….

What is new is that while I was working on my mountain photography I captured Killer Whales or Orcas! So exciting!!! The photographs are up in today’s Creative Potager post”A Whale of a Story.” This week is a painting week for me and I am wondering what new risks I can take as I work on a large 30 X 40 inch canvas. All the best of the week everyone!

I’m back after what seems like forever to me, but I actually think it has only been two weeks. I have been hit by an MS relapse, and find my creativity very therapeutic. It keeps me sitting down and relaxing, per dr’s orders.

I’m continuing to work on the sketchbook project, which is new for me this year, and have also posted a new, in-progress watercolor. My sketchbook project includes many watercolor sketches of El Salvador because I lead service-learning trips for teens and adults to visit and work in projects supported by the Palo Alto (California) Quaker Meeting. If you are interested in more information, drop me a comment at quakeryouthtrips@yahoo.com.

I am feeling very inspired today. I have the feeling that it is going to be a great week. I can’t wait to get upstairs in my studio and start some new work and plug away at some old work. Have a great week everyone!

this is by far my favorite place to share my link to my new art. It’s low pressure and there’s always other artist doing lovely work. THanks for being here!

Lots of “new” this week. I’m loving Monday check in days (also my day off) and enjoy looking at the work of other artists. Now to find a way to fund this gig!

I’ve been taking part in a ‘Write a Poem a Day’ challenge for the month of January. As everyone posts first drafts only, there’s no pressure for the poems to be perfect. This Friday will be my first painting class since high school. Can’t wait!

I made a commitment to do process art every day in 2012 and blog about it, and I’m doing it! I don’t always feel like doing art, but I like having made the commitment and knowing I’m going to keep my word. Some days I feel ambitious and get lost in making art for a long time. Other days, it’s just half an hour, but still, it’s half an hour of stillness in my life. How can that possibly be bad?
My blog/website is http://www.processartjournal.com/. If anyone here does process art and blogs about it, please contact me and I’ll add a link on my site. Happy creating, everyone!

Working away on a small series, any feedback? Sometimes I get caught up in what I’m doing and need some fresh perspectives

I’m still working on my Posemaniacs practice each morning and have a wonderful giveaway of Andrea Joseph’s latest zine at my blog. It is an absolute treasure.
All you have to do is leave a comment on yesterday’s post to be entered.
xoxo
P. S. Leah, your little girl is as beautiful as her Mother.

I’ve decided to give myself time (one hour a day at least) to just let my mind wander… to be free of the interference of technology and hopefully lead to some creativity!
I’m planning on documenting what each day brings on my blog:

I’m a bit late getting started, but better late than never – so they say!

Glad to get back to this challenge and enjoy how it is about being creative any way you can. This means I have a good chance of being able to contribute! Thanks for inspiring & supporting, Leah.

So happy that I managed the energy to create & blog. And love the fact that the ‘New’ theme and the IA ‘butterfly’ challenge have complimented each other perfectly and inspired me in a therapeutic yet fun way.
Wishing you all a Happy & Creative week!

I thought I would be doing more with the NEW theme and so I wasnt posting. A heartache erupted in my life and my art, poems etc has been focused more there. I wasn’t sure until today if I was going going to share it but after talking with others I think I need to share it as a form of my healing as well it may touch someone elses heart.
I posted my Pome from today but here are some other links if you want to go look

Hi Everyone!
It feels good to be getting back onto the blogging track. I’ve begun posting again to my blog after a long break in the latter part of 2011. Even so, I was still making photos and painting and writing. There will be much to share every chance I make it to the blog. Happy to be sharing again.

I posted the first scene of my first comic-web-series that I made with my new watercolor pencils. ^.^ I realize it’s not much, yet, but I’m hoping to continue the story weekly, scene by scene.

I’ve been working on more knitting The most creative thing that I have done this week is to put plans to move to my dream location into motion…this excites me beyond belief!

I’ve only just signed up for this year’s challenge so the best I can offer for this week a little feature posting on your challenge ~ it’s “new” and creative (writing) so I guess it counts. I know.. I know… I’m stretching it but it may help spread the word too and that’s always a great thing! Thanks for being so inspiring Leah!

So far, so good. I’ve taken at least one photo every day for 22 days!! Rather than list 7 links for the week, I’ll just list the link to my favorite photo of the week
http://my365.cryderphotography.com/2012/01/17/melt-my-heart-day-seventeen/
I walked into the living room to find my husband and son exactly as pictured. I quietly grabbed the camera and snapped away. It’s not a perfect photo, but it is perfect to me.
Wishing a creative next week to all!!

This week, I jumped in and did the GPP Crusade which involved going back through the year 2011 and writing a list of creative accomplishments. http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/vividlife/gpp-crusade-no-59-ta-da-list-2011-re-cap.html

Hi all – thanks for this site! Have recently found all these great art co-ops. Am linking to something very new (and very painful) I have been undertaking lately) but thankfully it will be over soon
