Creative Every Day Check-In: January 23 – 29

January 23rd, 2012

This weekly check-in post is a place for Creative Every Day Challenge participants to share their creative activities. To those who celebrate, I hope you have a beautiful Christmas!

Join in the Challenge: You can now sign-up for the 2012 Challenge here!

Ways to share: Once you've signed up, you can leave a comment on this post and/or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a blog post(s) about your creative activities during the days of 1/23/12 - 1/29/12.

The widget below is an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post (or posts) or flickr image during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you! If you're unsure about how to use the widget, check out the "How to use the Mr. Linky widget" section on the Creative Every Day Challenge page. (If you're reading this in a RSS reader or email subscription, you will not see the "Mr. Linky widget", so click on over to the blog to use it.) If the Mr. Linky widget is missing from this blog post, it's probably a problem with their server and it will come back as soon as it's fixed. You can always leave your link in the comments.

You can also take advantage of the great CED flickr group to post your images and see what others are up to. If you're on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #CED2012!

Theme: The (totally optional) theme for January is New, which you can read more about and get ideas for here.

Happy Creating!

This is my first check in for 2012 and the technique I used is NEW so check me out in fitting with the theme.

Great to be here. Hope to hear from many of you!

My first time here, too. I forgot about the word New, but it’s a new challenge to me :)

NEW to me… taking on line digital editing class an learning a lot. Having lots of fun tweaking images in my files. Also wrote a post on how I came to call myself an artist. Blessings to you all.

Hi Leah, I’ve just signed up for your challenge, for the year of the dragon I am planning to make a dragon each week of 2012, I started on January 1st so have already finished my 3rd dragon and am posting them to my blog each Monday. Looking forward to exploring all the participants pages. Cheers…

This week’s post – following beauty to its source through self-trust.

This is the first time I was able to post in the first 25. Yeah!

I started a new way for myself to create mandalas this past week. One is still a drawing on watercolor board; the other is an underpainting in gouache which is a new medium for me. So I’m definitely into new things, especially this past week! Will post images of the mandalas soon, meanwhile I’m posting day-to-day new things I encounter, think about and create, even in the kitchen.

I’m in the final week of my Sketchbook Project 2012 – just posted my next to the last sketch. I’ll spend this week making the journal/description pages “pretty”, taking photos for myself, and then mail it.

Ah yes the high winds have given way to rains here. Today what is new is I am musing about the impact of the weather on my painting as I post a combination of recent Mayne Island weather photographs along with an underpainting detail from an ample 30 x 40 inch oil on canvas work I am just about finished. What will this week bring? I have no idea but I am curious to find out. Happy Creating everyone!

I made some “new” changes to a piece that had me stymied for awhile. I’m on a roll and hope to make more progress this week. Have fun everyone!

Looking forward to a NEW, healthy body as I kick cancer out and claim the healing power of God! Having fun making weekly Word art on old library catalogue cards and wondering how they will develop into a NEW piece of art put all together :)

My daughter and I worked together on a crazy inky page – it’s HUGE – so much fun!

Winter weather is conducive to painting, soup making and baking. Gardening? Not so much so. Have to make do with browsing seed catalogs :)

Yesterday, I posted a Digital Montage dedicated to “New Life” and also a post of some “New Inspiring Findings” since I’m in the process of re-decorating my home. Stop by and be inspired☺☺☺. Until next time, Stay well!

Happy Chinese NEW Year, everyone! Thanks for those of you who sent me encouragement to finish up the sketchbook project. It was a new endeavor for me and I had my doubts, thinking I’d bitten off more than I could chew. But I ended up putting in a couple of long days and now it’s done! Take a peek if you get a chance, I’ve posted the final pages and the cover.

This is a great challenge – I decided to give myself an hour a day with no technology in order to (hopefully) inspire new ideas…I am surprised how challenging it has been just to find the time! I am aware that creativity cannot be simply found at a given time, but I hoped that quiet and no distraction would help. On the plus side, I have managed to get a few things scribbled down and will develop these over the next few days.

Ready for the New Year!

Hi Leah
Apologies for double posting. I’ve been creating like a madwoman, so that could be why I got mixed up. lol
Stay inspired!

More photos and paintings. Feels good to be catching up, with my blog and to see so many beautiful artworks linked here!!

Rough week here so not a whole lot new…sucks having to find my warrior princess often. Watch for her!

Every Monday, I post about what I’m working on. I love that this challenge inspires me to be creative every day.

Getting jumpstarted again on my blog. Creative Everyday inspires me to keep posting and creating!

This is my first visit to your blog, and I’m thrilled to join your Creative Every Day Challenge. Today I sat in my redecorated art room and sighed. My art easel is up and ready for tomorrow.

I’m so excited to be a part of this challenge! What a great idea, Leah! I’ll be utilizing these themes mostly in my writing, but quite possibly mixed media journaling, and photography, too! I’m especially geared up for February’s theme, as night is my favorite time of day. :) But for the remainder of January, I’ll challenge myself with New. Happy art times to all!

I really don’t have anything to show for this week. That’s because I am busy re-posting my entire website. I moved both of my sites and have had a hard time getting everything to work. Now, I am putting the pictures back in because they all point to a folder that no longer exists. Perhaps I will be able to post new pictures next week.

I made my comic and finished painting my huge canvas and did some film stuff this week. Pretty good overall. ^.^ I even (finally) updated my resumé.

Can’t wait for February… :)

I love your site Leah, and love the pictures of your daughter in the snow, mine is 8 months now and is still to discover the delights of snow. Best of wishes to you and yours for this new year!

I have a new book and new Inktense Pencils … the combination is resulting in CREATIVITY every day this week

My first week done (well I started Tuesday when I found out!) Had good fun drawing, painting, tried out new rubber stamp tool too. Great project!

I’m still managing to stay on track with my photos – keeping up with posting them this week was a bit of a challenge since we were staying in a cabin in the mountains of NC with no internet! I’m happy to say that as of tonight I am caught up!!

You can see my favorite photo of the past week here http://my365.cryderphotography.com/2012/01/24/the-stars-at-night-day-twenty-four/

But I do hope you check out some of the others too :)
Happy creating to everyone!!
